Este artigo analisa redes sociais compostas por travestis entre 35 e 68 anos de idade residentes no Rio de Janeiro. Com base em dados obtidos através do exame de suas narrativas biográficas, trajetórias sociais e da prática da observação participante, propõe-se refletir sobre suas redes sociais e demonstrar a importância das mesmas para os processos de construção de suas subjetividades, performances de gênero e formas de sociabilidade. Sob a perspectiva da Antropologia Urbana, o estudo das redes sociais ancorou-se nos trabalhos de Elizabeth Both, Ulf Harnnez e William Foote White. A partir de suas redes, seus itinerários urbanos, sociabilidades de caráter intra e intergeracional, mas especialmente, os intricados caminhos dos processos de transformação em travesti, são desvelados. Nas tramas das redes sociais travestis, compreendidas aqui não apenas como redes de apoio e proteção, mas também como lugares de memória, de troca e transmissão de experiências, corpos, sujeitos e ‘formas de ser’ e ‘fazer travesti’ são continuamente tecidos.Palavras chave: Travestis. Sociabilidade. Abstract In the woofs of the nets: ways of subjectiveness, urban itineraries and sociability of transvestites in the city of the Rio de Janeiro This paper analyses social networks composed of transvestites between 35 and 68 years old living in Rio de Janeiro. Based on data obtained through examination of their biographical narratives, social careers and practice of participant observation is proposed to reflect on their social networks and demonstrate their importance to the processes of construction of their subjectivities, performances of gender and forms of sociability. From the perspective of Urban Anthropology, the study of social networks based on the work of Elizabeth Both, Ulf Hannerz and William Foote White. From their networks, their urban itineraries, sociability character within and between generations, but especially the intricate paths of transformation processes in transvestite, are disclosed. In the frame of social networks travestis, understood here as not only networks of support and protection but also as places of memory, transmission and exchange of experiences, bodies, subjects and ways of being and doing transvestite are continuously woven.Keywords: Transvestite. Resumo: Este estudo etnográfico discute o processo de construção de identidades dos migrantes nordestinos na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, tendo como referência a transformação da Feira de São Cristóvão no Centro Municipal Luiz Gonzaga de Tradições Nordestinas. Parte integrante da dissertação Memórias repentinas: a construção poética do Nordeste pelos repentistas da Feira de São Cristóvão (RJ) defendida no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Memória Social/ UNIRIO[1], a presente análise faz uso da ideia de sociodinâmica da estigmatização para compreender as relações estabelecidas entre cariocas e nordestinos, bem como utiliza o conceito de lugares de memória para entender a importância da Feira enquanto bastião da cultura para a população migrante. Para tanto, fez-se um trabalho de campo entre 2010 e 2012, realizando observação não-participante e entrevistas semiestruturadas com atores sociais locais, além de pesquisa na hemeroteca digital do Centro Nacional de Folclore e Cultura Popular e revisão bibliográfica sobre o tema. Palavras chave: Feira de São Cristóvão. Rio de Janeiro  FROM A REGIONAL FAIR INTO A CENTRE OF TRADITIONS: THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BRAZILIAN NORTHEASTERN IDENTITY IN RIO DE JANEIRO.  Abstract: This ethnographic study discusses the process of northeastern migrants' construction identities in the city of Rio de Janeiro, taking as reference the change of the São Cristóvão Fair into the Luiz Gonzaga Municipal Centre of Northeastern Traditions. As part of the dissertation Sudden memories: the poetic construction of the northeast region by the troubadours of the São Cristóvão Fair (RJ) defended in the Post-Graduation Program in Social Memory / UNIRIO, the present analysis makes use of the ideia of the sociodinamic of stigmatization to understand the relationships established between cariocas and northeasterners, using as well the concept of places of memory to comprehend the importance of the Fair as a bastion of culture for the migrant population. To this end, a fieldwork was performed out between 2010 and 2012, with a non-participant observation and semi-structured interviews with local social actors. Besides, researches were made in the digital library of the National Center for Folklore and Popular Culture and a bibliographic review about the topic. Keywords: São Cristóvão Fair. Resumo O presente artigo tem por objetivo principal apresentar uma investigação acerca das múltiplas práticas de leitura em bibliotecas localizadas na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Para a realização deste estudo, buscamos delimitar o universo de frequentadores, suas práticas de leitura na biblioteca, os mediadores entre os textos, sons, imagens e a leitura, bem como as relações entre os espaços das bibliotecas e os territórios onde estão inseridos. Investiga-se ainda qual a importância e a função da leitura para os que a praticam, nos níveis objetivo, subjetivo, simbólico e imaginário. Através de entrevistas e da observação participante, procuramos trazer à tona a relação dos usuários com os livros, outros conteúdos, mídias e suportes. Cada vez mais, observamos práticas que combinam leitura, oralidade e escrita em um cenário transmidiático. Com os resultados, procura-se também contribuir com informações sobre a experiência dos usuários para a formulação e avaliação das políticas públicas de leitura e aquelas voltadas para as bibliotecas.   Palavras-chave: Rio de Janeiro, bibliotecas, práticas de leitura, leitura do mundo, experiências.   Resumen El presente artículo tiene por objetivo principal presentar una investigación acerca de las múltiples prácticas de lectura en bibliotecas ubicadas en la ciudad de Rio de Janeiro. The present article traces relations between three objects of analysis: some works from the photographic series “Buena Memória” by the Argentinian Marcelo Brodsky, the Memorial da Resistencia de São Paulo and the Ocupa DOPS movement in Rio de Janeiro; evidencing the importance of having institutional spaces which promote exhibitions with artistic productions about memory in the Fluminense capital. The text analyses the photograph “La Clase” and its “Puente de La Memória” with the city of Buenos Aires, relating its reflections with the history and potential of these two places of memory in Brazil as possible spaces of an art educational non-hegemonic and freeing narrative.

Abstract Inspired by the reflections on the concept of critique proposed by Luc Boltanski and Eve Chiapello, this article presents some elements for a sociology of critique of the Pacification Police Unit (Unidade de Polícia Pacificadora - UPPs) program. It offers a brief history of the project, typified in phases. We conduct a mapping and a temporal analysis of critiques made about the UPPs throughout the entire period of their existence from 2008 until today. This analysis is based on ethnographic research and interviews conducted by the authors between 2009 and 2015 in the first two "pacified" favelas in the city of Rio de Janeiro (Santa Marta and the Cidade de Deus), and on the analysis of news reports from the major and alternative media and of social networks.

Este artigo discorre sobre a utilização de uma oficina de culinária como recurso operador da desinstitucionalização. Trata-se de um relato de experiência da intervenção proposta por terapeutas ocupacionais com pessoas internadas por longo período em enfermarias de um hospital psiquiátrico universitário, no município do Rio de Janeiro. Discutem-se fragmentos da trajetória de quatro participantes que exemplificaram, através de seus percursos na oficina de culinária, questões relacionadas ao processo de desinstitucionalização, criação de redes, contratualização e fomento da autonomia. Percebeu-se que as atividades realizadas foram potencializadoras dessas questões ao permitirem transcender a rotina instituída e massificadora da internação e possibilitar novas e diferentes formas de estar na vida e de estabelecer conexões diversas. A intervenção terapêutica ocupacional permitiu a análise e a adaptação das atividades, o manejo das relações que se estabeleceram a partir delas, tendo em vista o compromisso com os processos de inclusão, participação social, bem como demais ocupações. This article discusses the use of a cooking workshop as a promoter resource of the deinstitutionalization. It is an experience report about an intervention offered by occupational therapists to assist people hospitalized for long periods in University psychiatric hospital, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. We discuss the fragments of trajectory of four workshop participants who exemplified issues related to the process of deinstitutionalization, networking, contractualization and increased autonomy. It was noticed that the activities offered potentiated these issues by allowing transcend the hospital routine and enabled new and different ways of being in life and establish several connections. The occupational therapy intervention allowed the analysis and adaptation of the activities, the management of relationships established from them, in view of the commitment to the promotion of social inclusion, participation, as well as other occupations.Keywords:Desinstituciozation; Mental Health; Occupational therapy .Este artículo presenta la utilización de un taller de culinaria como recurso operador de la desinstitucionalización. Se trata de un relato de experiencia de la intervención propuesta por terapeutas ocupacionales con personas internadas por un largo periodo en enfermerías de un hospital universitario de psiquiatría de Río de Janeiro. Se discute fragmentos de la trayectoria de cuatro participantes que ejemplificaron, a través de sus rutas en el taller de culinaria, cuestiones relacionadas al proceso de desinstitucionalización, creación de redes, contratación y fomento de la autonomía. Se percibió que las actividades realizadas  potencializaron esas cuestiones al permitieren transcender la rutina instituida y masificadora de la internación. La intervención terapéutica ocupacional permitió el análisis y la adaptación de las actividades, la administración de las relaciones que se establecen a partir de ellas, llevando en consideración el compromiso con los procesos de inclusión, participación social, así como otras ocupaciones. Este artigo teve como objetivo investigar o impacto da semântica negativa do lixo na organização do trabalho, o reconhecimento social e a identidade profissional dos classificadores de uma usina de separação de recicláveis na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Os dados foram obtidos mediante observação participante e entrevistas com 32 pessoas, entre cooperados e coordenadores de projetos. Por semântica negativa do lixo entendemos os significados atribuídos ao lixo que levariam a uma associação de seus trabalhadores (catadores, lixeiros) com o estigma (Eigenheer, 2003; Magera, 2003; Portilho, 1997). Os classificadores da usina de separação não interagem com a sociedade enquanto trabalham, o que amenizaria o impacto dessa semântica negativa do lixo. Todavia, prevalecem uma baixa autoestima e uma baixa valorização da profissão em função dos rendimentos e da assimetria de informação, impedindo a formação de laços (filiação) com a organização e, consequentemente, a identificação dos trabalhadores com a usina. Embora esta tenha sido criada com o objetivo de promover melhores ganhos, constatou-se que a organização do trabalho, o reconhecimento social e a identidade profissional permaneceram inalterados, exatamente pelo não alcance desses aspectos. Assim, os efeitos da semântica negativa do lixo, como a dificuldade de formação de laços de solidariedade e de confiança mútua (Carmo, 2009a; 2009b), seriam fruto da incompreensão sobre a lógica de negociação do produto do trabalho dos classificadores de lixo. Abstract The objective of this paper is to analyze the influence of a negative semantics of garbage in the social recognition and professional identity of the members of a separation cooperative in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The data was collected through participant observation and 32 interviews with cooperative workers and buyers and managers. We understand the association of the work with garbage to the idea of social degradation as a negative semantic association with garbage (Eigenheer, 2003; Magera, 2003; Portilho, 1997). The members of this separation cooperative do not interact with the passers-by (society in general) during their work. This absence of social interaction diminishes the impact of the negative semantics of garbage among them. Among the workers there is a low self-esteem and no official consideration of their job as a profession. This condition appears to be influenced by a lack of social recognition, low salaries and an asymmetry of information. Notwithstanding, we were able to identify a strong structure within the cooperative and the low impact of the negative semantics of garbage among the members. This paper concludes that the absence of social recognition and the lack of professional identity of these members is not a consequence of negative semantics (Carmo, 2009a e 2009b), but a result of the difficulty in understandinf the market logic that results from their work. This paper explores how outdoor performances actively define and create the essential character of open spaces in Brazil, a country known for its overwhelming abundance of outdoor life. We investigate the importance of open spaces within the urban fabric, and consider the ways in which the history and aspirations of the local community become meaningfully woven into these spaces. We chose an open space, or largo [3], in the city of Rio de Janeiro called Largo da Carioca, which embodies the relation between collective memory and appropriation. We then consider how the Largo has consistently been used as an arena of performance despite the intense urban changes and movement of people over the last 50 years. As a way of grasping the dynamic of the activities of the Largo da Carioca we adopted two approaches: historical-evolutive and participant observation. The first concerns the evolution of the urban space of Largo da Carioca and the background of outdoor performances as a way of introducing the popular arts of Rio de Janeiro, and as a way of connecting our theoretical analysis to the field research. In the second approach we use tools and methods from ethnographic research such as field annotations, direct interviews and visual resources, like photographs and video-shooting, so as to fulfill and complement our work. We argue that the urban essence of these performances is related to the ‘inviting’ conditions of this particular urban site and to its (in)formal structures, uses and regular activities. It invites – because of its openness, formal and social largeness and amplitude – a singular melange of uses and appropriations through which the formal and social are amalgamated – for, as one informant said, it is ‘an open space of constant comings and goings’ (Igor Ferreira, 13/07/03).
