This study aimed to investigate the implementation of snowball throwing technique in teaching speaking and to find out the students’ participation toward the implementation of snowball throwing. This study was conducted at SMK PGRI 1 Cimahi. The students of XI AP 1 class were selected as the respondents of the research. The research used descriptive qualitative method. The data was obtained from classroom observation and students’ interview. The result showed that snowball throwing technique can be used effectively to improve students’ speaking skill through several stages. First, every leader explains the material to their group. Second, every student writing one question about the material. Third, the paper is rolled  into a ball and thrown from one student in a group to the other student in another group for approximately 2 minutes. Fourth, after the student gets one ball (one question), he or she is given chance to answer the question. Fifth, every group has their turn to answer the question; the group that gave wrong or incorrect answers and gets the lowest score is given a penalty. Those stages gave the students more chance to interacted in the class. It was very helpful in provide the students with more enjoyable activities which made the students involved in teaching and learning process actively.

This research aims at finding out the teachers’ effort in developing the students’ ability in reading Al-Yaqūt Al-Nafīs at class two senior high school. This research employed the Descriptive Qualitative method. Its findings indicate an increase in the teachers’ effort in developing students’ ability in reading and translating Al-Yaqūt Al-Nafīs. The teachers applied sorogan method in the teaching and learning process and applied repetition and practice techniques in learning Al-Yaqūt Al-Nafīs.

<p>This research aims at improving the speaking learning process of the eighth graders of SMP Negeri 2 Wungu through Board Game “Snake and Ladder” in the academic year of 2016/2017 this research used qualitative research because the research wants to describe the implementation of Board Game “Snake and Ladder” in teaching and learning process. This research, the researcher got the data from collecting photos, syllabus, RPP, students’ name and students’ score. They are used to know how to use, what the advantages and what the disadvantages of teaching speaking using  using Board Game “Snake and Ladder” in the eighth graders of junior high school. Then, to collect the data, research need a technique that is called technique of collecting data. There were some instrument used by researcher: observation, interview and documentation. Based on the result of the research, using Board Game “Snake and Ladder” can make students to improve their speaking skill. With this game, the students can make a descriptive text orally. The students also feel confident when they come forwards in front of the class. The students can speak up in front of the class confidently.<em> </em>The students are dared to speak in front of the class because it has been used and the considered classmates as a family. The students are enjoying and having fun. The students are also not bored to be follow the lesson. The students have good respon to the teacher. It makes the students very fun and are not bored  because the game in Board Game “Snake and Ladder” is easy to play. Third, using Board Game “Snake and Ladder” this game was easy to implement in the class. This game makes the lesson understood well by the students. It means that by using Board Game media helps the students to comprehend the material clearly and easily because the media facilitate the students to catch the content of the story. Fourth, using Board Game “Snake and Ladder” is this game make students more active to speak up. It means that by using Board Game “Snake and Ladder” in teaching speaking make the students active follow the teaching and learning process. In this research, the researcher give some suggestion. First, the teacher is sugessted to apply various kinds of teaching techniques in teaching speaking. Second, the institutions are suggested to motivated teacher to apply various kinds of teaching techniques. Third, the students are suggested to be more motivated and serious in learning English. And the last , the other researchers are suggested to make further research especially concerning on teaching speaking through the other game or techniques.</p>

ABSTRACT The media essentially supports the teaching and learning process. Video such as from TED Talks source becomes one of the teaching media that can be used by both parties, a teacher and students to improve English skill, especially for speaking skill. In this paper, the purpose is to explore the students' responses toward the implementation of TED Talks in their speaking class. The subjects were 23 undergraduate students who have experienced to watch TED Talks video for supporting their learning process. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method. To gather data, a questionnaires that were distributed through google form with close-ended questions were employed. The findings showed that most students expressed a positive response to the use of TED Talks video to support their speaking class. They assumed that the TED Talks video encouraged them to improve their speaking skill. Besides, there were some benefits to their learning process. They mentioned that they could learn about how to deliver their ideas well, how to express their critical thinking, and how to use appropriate accent, dialect, pronunciation, and fluency. Thus, the students might overcome their difficulties in understanding the speech because of the video’s powerful topics and the delivery speech from non-native speakers.

Abstract The aim of this study was to figure out the reasons about the necessity of honorer teachers to continue their study and to reveal the implication of honorer teachers’ teaching and learning process at university into their classroom. Descriptive Qualitative Method was applied through interview and documentation. In this study, the researchers synthesized the results of interview from selected Islamic honorer teachers as the primary source. The secondary source was accomplished by related articles and books or documentations of the research.  The results showed that there were five reasons of the necessity such as (1). Based on the law number 14 of 2005 chapter 4 verse 8 – 13 and The Indonesian Republic Government Regulation No 49 of 2018 chapter 8, (2). To improve their teachers’ competences, (3). To raise their position to the next level such as bachelor degree (4). To get better salary,  and (5). To get Educator Identity Number. Meanwhile, the implication was studied and needed for further improvement for their competences. Furthermore, the honorer teachers required to have lots knowledge, apprehend to manage the classroom, understand to communicate, cooperate and  have a good relationship with students emotionally or even spiritually

This study aimed to investigate the implementation of the Bingo game technique in teaching writing and to find out the students’ participation toward the implementation of the Bingo game. The research instruments used interview and observation sheet. This study was conducted at Junior High School in Cimahi. The students of VII F class were selected as the participant of the research. The research used descriptive qualitative method. The data was obtained from classroom observation and students’ interview. The result showed that Bingo game can be used  to motivate students in writing skill. It was very helpful in providing the students with more enjoyable activities which made the students involved in the teaching and learning process actively. Keywords:  Writing, Bingo Game, Descriptive Text.

The approach is an essential part of language teaching. This is a way of looking at teaching and learning. One of the techniques of Arabic language teaching is the Integrated Skills Approach. This approach combines four language skills in the learning process. This study aims to describe the mastery approach and its implementation in learning Arabic. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study were collected through library research. Based on the study results, it was found that using the integrated skills approach in learning Arabic will train students in the use of language in its entirety and naturally, which includes receptive and productive language activities. Because in real life these four skills are not used separately.

This study is aimed to investigate how to teach English speaking or conversation interestingly for students by using a picture so that the students are easier to learn and enjoy in speaking English to others in the classroom. Method employed was descriptive qualitative method by doing observation and library research. Findings shows that using picture is one of good way to create an interesting learning process, so the students can easier to understand the lesson, and get enthusiastic to speak English to others in the classroom. Finally, if student always practice it repeatedly even out of the class, they will be able to remember permanently what they had learned and they will improve their ability in speaking English automatically.

The purposeof this studyis to describe the morphological and         Syntactic interference contained in a collection of short stories Biarkan Aku Memulai work Nurul F. Huda. Sociolinguistics is the study of language variation and use in society. Interference is the event of the use of language elements of one into the other language elements that occur in the speakers themselves. This research uses descriptive qualitative method because to describe the actual realityin order to obtainan accurateand objective. Qualitative descriptive methods were used to analyzethe elements ofa word orphrase that incorporated elements of other languages with the analysis and description of the formulation of the problem is the answer. Data collection techniques using observation techniques, the determination ofthe object of research, the selection of short stories.Based on the analysis of the data in this study can be found that there are six forms of interference morphology, namely (1) the prefix nasal N-sound, (2) the addition of the suffix, (3) the exchange prefix, (4) exchange suffixes, (5) exchange konfiks, (6) removal affixes. While the syntactic interference only on the words and phrases in a sentence. The results of the study it can be concluded that the interference morphology more common than syntactic interference.

Kamus baca bergambar merupakan salah satu media penunjang pembelajaran yang dapat membuat siswa lebih tertarik dan mempermudah dalam proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan observasi, bahwa banyak berbagai macam kamus baca bergambar yang ditemukan. Hal ini dapat mempengaruhi daya tangkap pemahaman siswa dalam Bahasa Mandarin. Oleh sebab itu, pada penelitian ini  peneliti berusaha menganalisis kamus baca bergambar Bahasa Mandarin sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini, yaitu 1) Mengetahui kebutuhan siswa akan kamus baca bergambar untuk mempermudah siswa dan guru belajar bahasa Mandarin, 2) Mengetahui kesesuaian kamus baca bergambar dengan kebutuhan siswa melalui analisis SWOT untuk mempermudah belajar bahasa Mandarin. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, karena peneliti akan menjabarkan kebutuhan kamus baca bergambar untuk mempermudah siswa belajar Bahasa Mandarin. Hasil dari penelitian ini menghendaki kamus baca bergambar yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa berdasarkan penyusunan kosakata, jumlah kosakata per halaman, tampilan/ layout kosakata, font Hanzi, font size Hanzi, font Pinyin, font size Pinyin, gambar/ ilustrasi.Picture reading dictionary is one of the supporting learning media that can make students more interested and simplify the learning process. Based on observations, that many various kinds of picture reading dictionaries were found. This can affect the comprehension of students' comprehension in Mandarin. Therefore, in this study the researchers tried to analyze the Chinese picture reading dictionary according to the students' needs. The purpose of this study, namely 1) Knowing the needs of students for picture reading dictionaries to facilitate students and teachers learning Mandarin, 2) Knowing the suitability of picture reading dictionaries with students' needs through SWOT analysis to facilitate learning Chinese. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji perbandingan kepercayaan masyarakat Talagadi Majalengka dan masyarakat Nagoya di Jepang. Kepercayaan yang dimaksud dalampenelitian ini adalah kepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan tabu atau pamali dankepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan keberuntungan pada kedua masyarakat tersebut.Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut digunakan metode deskripstif kualitatif. Dalam memupudata digunakan metode lapangan karena peneliti terjun langsung ke masyarakat. Disamping itu, digunakan pula metode survey melalui penyebaran daftar kuesioner. Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk kepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan tabu ataupamali pada masyarakat Talaga dan Nagoya meliputi kegiatan yang dilakukan oleh manusia.Adapun kepercayaan yang berhubungan dengan keberuntungan pada kedua masyarakattersebut berkaitan dengan binatang, benda, dan kegiatan manusia. Sampai saat ini baikmasyarakat Talaga maupun Nagoya masih memegang teguh kepercayaan tersebut.Kata kunci: kepercayaan, Talaga, Nagoya, deskriptif kualitatif, komparasi budaya.AbstractThe aim of this research is to review the comparison of belief between the society ofTalaga in Majalengka and the society of Nagoya in Japan. The intended belief on this study isthe one related with a taboo or pamali, and the belief correlated to luck on both societies. Inachieving the goal, this research uses a descriptive qualitative method. To get the data, thewriter uses a field method that he (/she) directly involves with the people. On the other hand,the writer also uses a survey method by distributing questioners. The result shows that the beliefcorrelated with the taboo or pamali of Talaga and Nagoya societies covers the activities doneby human. Also with the belief related to luck of both societies corresponds to animals, things,and human’s activities. Until now, either Talaga society or Nagoya’s still keeps those beliefs.Keyword: belief, Talaga, Nagoya, descriptive qualitative, cultural comparison.
