English is an International language that is used as an instrument to communicate. As a foreign language it is quite normal if  English difficult to learn, because the way to write and read or speak English language is dissimilar whereas  in Indonesian language the way to read or speak and write it is the same. Same as student in one of Junior High school in Lembang, some of them do not want to speak English language especially in from of the class. The author guest one of the factor students do not want to speak English is limitation vocabulary. In this article the author try to know is it true that limitation vocabulary is one of factor student do not want to speak English ? To answer that question, the author use qualitative method through questionnaire and interview for second grade student. The result finding that many factor student do not want to speak English one of them is limitation vocabulary, the student said that is no easy to memorize a lot of vocabulary, when they memorize it the feel bored. To make the student do not feel bored the author  suggest to use some games in the class to make the student more attractive. Keywords:  Vocabulary, Factor, Speaking

In this research, the writer analyzed the culture in the English textbook entitled “When English Rings a Bell for VIII Grade Junior High School (SMP/ MTS)” written by Siti Wachidah et al published by Ministry of Education and Culture. The research was conducted to find out what are the cultures shown on the English textbook. The writer tried to analyze the four categories of culture that stated by Patrriick Morran in the reading material on the English textbook. She wrote a paper entitled “AN ANALYSIS OF CULTURE ON READING MATERIAL TEXTBOOK AT THE SECOND GRADE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN SMPN 10 CIREBON”. Textbook is the important thing in teaching and learning process (Tomlison, 1999:2). The textbook is for students that make 2013 curriculum in their school. Relying on this, the present study, how culture disseminated in he textbook. The data for this study are collected from an English textbook for second grade of junior high school. The data for the study are in the form of structural an the reading text passages. The structure is categorized and analyzed based on the framework culture four categorized proposed by Patrick Moran . The sample of this study analyzed trough the reading material on the first semester. This study use qualitative method. This study conducted at reading material on the first semester. Further, the reading material on the English textbook include used almost Indonesian culture. Further, the structural of textbook culture is Indonesian culture. The reading material also almost using Inodonesian culture. The textbook is easy to use because the textbook was familiar by students own culture, it presented names, action, places and characters of Indonesian culture.

This paper looks into what Junior High School learners think of the Web 2.0 tool “Storyboard” for digital story telling purposes and investigates the extent to which it can enhance their receptive and productive skills of reading and writing in the English language. Fifty one randomly selected students, who created a digital story based on a relevant instructive scenario, and their teachers took part in the research. The quantitatively analyzed teachers’ and students’ interviews results and learners’ post-tests data revealed that the tool is considered very motivating and useful increasing learners’ aforementioned English language skills. As learners and teachers indicate “Storyboard” has offered them moments of happiness and joy during their school activities and made their lesson creative and interesting.

The aims of this study to know student vocabulary through drill vocabulary on second grade Elementary school in Sidomukti village, Kebomas Gresik. The participant from Elementary School until Junior high school and the enthusiastic of participant is good around 25-30 in every meeting.  Classroom activity was made fun but still get knowledge through game and material worksheet based on topic. Then drilling  method that is applied in the classroom, students not only listen theory but try to answer question in worksheet. Researcher want to make more relaxed learning atmosphere in every meeting in order to student did not bored, researcher try to guide student from worksheet to increase their  vocabulary. Vocabulary is the one of focus in this learning, their ability in vocabulary is variative because they are from different level Elementary School and Junior High School. Every meeting we try to drill their vocabulary so we hope their vocabulary increase step by step. We try to drill their vocabulary in every meeting to recognize some of vocabulary related with the material and  also try  to make student motivated for answer the question. This research method using pre-test and post-test for retrieve data .The result from this learning is participant happy and enjoy, their vocabulary ability and their vocabulary increase also.

The development of a teaching material must be based on the analysis of student needs. Development of teaching materials have to be able to answer or solve problems or difficulties in learning. This study aims to know the development of writing folk poetry teaching material according to the materials expert team with copy the master technique for seventh grade student of junior high school 1 Rantau Selatan, in Labuhan Batu District. This study was conducted by using Probability Sampling technique. The result shows that all teachers and students need modules in the learning process. Teaching material products developed in folk poetry writing materials with copy the master learning technique for seventh grade students of junior high school 1 Rantau Selatan meet the requirements and are appropriate to use based on the validation of material experts and design experts.

Abstract: Orthodontic treatment need increases with the number of cases of malocclusion as one of the major problems in Indonesia and an oral health problems are sufficiently large as dental caries and periodontal disease. Orthodontic treatment need in a population is described by one measure, namely Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN). The purpose of this study was to determine the needs of orthodontic treatment in the second-grade students of Junior High School 2 Bitung based IOTN consisting of Aesthetic Component and Dental Health Component. It was a cross sectional study of descriptive obsevational, conducted in Junior High School 2 Bitung at December 2013. It research was used the total population of the second grade students of Junior High School 2 Bitung, amounting to 460 students. The results showed, orthodontic care needs based on the AC is 304 people 77 % do not require nursing care or only mild, 74 people 19% of borderline and need care 18 4.5 really need treatment. While orthodontic treatment needs based DHC is 76% of 303 people do not require treatment or light treatment only, 63 people took care borderline 16%, 7.6% and 30 people really need treatment. Orthodontic treatment need by Index of Orthodontic Treatment Needs in second grade at Junior High School 2 Bitung mostly do not require or need minor maintenance in AC 77% and DHC 76%.Keywords: treatment need, IOTN, Student junior High School.  Abstrak: Kebutuhan perawatan ortodonsi meningkat seiring bertambahnya jumlah kasus maloklusi sebagai salah satu permasalahan utama di Indonesia dan merupakan masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang cukup besar setelah karies gigi dan penyakit periodontal. Kebutuhan perawatan ortodonsi pada suatu populasi digambarkan dengan salah satu alat ukur yaitu Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN). Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui kebutuhan perawatan ortodonsi pada siswa-siswi kelas II SMP Negeri 2 Bitung berdasarkan IOTN yang terdiri dari Aesthetic Component (AC) dan Dental Health Component (DHC). Penelitian ini merupakan suatu penelitian Cross sectional yang bersifat deskriptif observasional, yang dilakukan di SMP Negeri 2 Bitung pada bulan Desember 2013. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik total populasi pada siswa-siswi kelas II di SMP Negeri 2 Bitung yang berjumlah 460 orang. Hasil penelitian didapatkan, kebutuhan perawatan ortodonsi berdasarkan AC yaitu 304 orang 77 % tidak membutuhkan perawatan atau hanya perawatan ringan, 74 orang 18,7% butuh perawatan borderline dan 18 orang 4,5 sangat butuh perawatan. Sedangkan kebutuhan perawatan ortodonsi berdasarkan DHC yaitu 303 orang 76,5% tidak membutuhkan perawatan atau hanya perawatan ringan, 63 orang 15,9% butuh perawatan borderline, dan 30 orang 7,6% sangat butuh perawatan. Kebutuhan perawatan ortodonsi berdasarkan IOTN pada siswa kelas II di SMP Negeri 2 Bitung sebagian besar tidak membutuhkan atau butuh perawatan ringan pada AC 77% dan DHC 76%. This research aimed at developing culture-based English language assessment instrument for the second semester of grade seven of junior high school in Buleleng Subdistrict to support the implementation of Curriculum 2013. This research was categorized as research and development. Research and development model which was used in this research proposed by Peffers et.al (2007). The suitable English assessment for the second semester of grade seven of junior high school was English assessment with integrated Balinese culture in order to support the development of character building. The steps of developing this English assessment instrument included assessment goal analysis, assessment standard analysis, syllabus analysis, learning source analysis, designing blue print, developing assessment, expert judgment, and revision. This research produced English assessment instrument which assessed students’ affective, cognitive, and psychomotor domains. The reliability and quality of the developed assessment instrument were found out by giving expert judgment form to the experts of assessment and English language teaching. The scores which were given by the two experts were 650 from the first expert and 802 from the second expert. Based on those scores, the quality of the developed English assessment instrument was categorized as excellent. The reliability of the data was categorized as excellent in which the score of Alpha Cronbach’s coefficient was 0.9. It means that the developed culturebased English assessment instrument was suitable to be used in teaching and learning process that implements Curriculum 2013 in Buleleng Sub-district.

Abstract The study aims to evaluate of english learning at the Junior High School 3, Samaturu Kolaka. The method used is evaluative through the flow of the gap model (discrepancy evaluation model). Data collection through interviews, document tracing, and observation. Key Informant is the principal, teacher, and student. The results showed that: (1). The ten indicators of the principles in the preparation of lesson plan is only a contemporary-oriented indicator that is not contained in the lesson plan. This is because lesson plan is based on teaching materials and teaching materials. In addition, the lesson plan does not promote social, spiritual attitudes and only focus on English language teaching materials. Because of social and spiritual attitudes are hidden curriculum and can be applied to all subjects. Even the development of character is a program of Junior High School 3, Samaturu Kolaka. (2). All step-by-step indicators in lesson plan preparation are already loaded inside the lesson plan. But there is still an unprecedented indicator such as determining a monotonous learning strategy and not self-evaluation for the teacher to improve the strategy, and its teaching method. (3). Several indicators of lesson plan implementation have been carried out well in the classroom even though it is not maximized. This is due to preliminary activities, the teacher does not explain the importance of the material to be studied and competencies that students must master. The conclusion is related to the principles, application of steps and implementation of lesson plan in the classroom, although not maximized, but has been referring to Permendikbud no. 103 year 2014 about learning on primary education and secondary education.   Keywords: Evaluation, Lesson Plan, English Learning

The purpose of this study was to the influence reading habits and reading strategies on students reading comprehension at junior high school 1 in the district Benai-Kuansing.There were three questions contained in this study.Firstly,Is there any significant  influence of reading habit on students’ reading comprehension in junior high school 1  Benai.Secondly, Is there any significant  influence of reading strategies on students’ reading comprehension in junior high school 1  Benai.Thirdly, Is there any significant  influence of reading habit and reading strategies on students’ reading comprehension in junior high school 1  Benai.This study used quantitative explanatory research. The subjects in this study are 70 students of the second grade students. Data collection techniques in this study used questionnaires and tests. The questionnaires in this study related to students' reading habits and students' reading strategies, while the tests related to student reading comprehension. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics, classic assumption tests, multiple regression tests and hypothesis testing.The results of this study indicate that, student reading habits (X1) have significant results of 0,685. Student reading strategies (X2) have significant results of 0.379. And student reading comprehension (Y) has a significance result of 0.818. Therefore, the researcher concludes that there is a positive and significant contribution of student reading habits and student reading strategies on student reading comprehension. Keywords:Reading Habit, Reading Strategies, Reading Comprehension.
