Activities including movements can make young learners understand something through their five senses. However, instead of accommodating them to learn physically, most of the teachers often tell young learners to stay still on their seat. Therefore, this article investigated on how movement activities can be used by the teachers to engage the young learners at school. In this study, library research method was conducted in collecting the data which is also analyzed by the researcher. Teaching young learners is not as easy as it seems. One of their characteristics is they like to learn through movement activities which can be done by seeing, hearing, touching and interacting with something. Unfortunately, this characteristic also can be a problem for teacher to engage them in the classroom activity since they can be easily distracted over things that they are curious about. There is one thing that the teacher could implement to make the students engage in the class which is by using movement activities. Instead pushing the students to stay still and keep silence, it is better to make use or utilize their characteristic as a way to learn. Some activities which are including movements like music or singing a song and playing games with some physical moves, total physical response activities, and some other activities which involve coloring, cutting, sticking, and any other movements activities could be done by the teacher inside or outside the classroom.

Abstract Understanding ageism is a key aspect of gerontological curriculum. Media examples (e.g., television and movies) can be effective tools, and yet gerontological educators should stay updated on new media trends to encourage student interest. This presentation will explore a new social media application (i.e., TikTok) to help students recognize and dismantle their own ageist beliefs. The presenter will describe and explain the classroom activity, instructions for finding and downloading content, as well as the social media application itself. In this activity, students brainstorm their preconceived notion of older adults to catalyze open discussion regarding societal beliefs. Next, a few video examples, with both positive and negative portrayals of older adults are presented for discussion. Students may also bring other examples for participation credit to this class. This symposium presentation will include an interview activity guide, additional breakout group instructions, and other tips for creating impactful class discussion on ageism.

The purpose of this study was to analyze mathematics teachers' mindset regarding GRP practices in their classroom set up and classroom activity at secondary school level. The respondents were 120 mathematics teachers (106 male, 14 female), who were teaching mathematics at grade IX and X and were selected randomly. The participants were from three districts: Kathmandu, Sindhuli, and Chitwan of Province Three of Nepal. Cross-sectional Survey design was employed for this study. Self- developed questionnaire was considered as the data collection tool. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (Mean and Standard Deviation) and inferential statistics (One Sample t-test). The result of the study indicated that secondary level mathematics teachers are practicing GRP on classroom set up and classroom activity. However, they did not give more time and effort for girls for learning mathematics and low practice of group work for cooperative learning, which is important for reducing gender bias and empower girls in learning mathematics. The Government of Nepal should provide teachers GRP awareness training about how to practice GRP in classroom through policy and changing concept in school curriculum and promote positive mindset towards GRP practice.

Abstract Small group discussion activities that capitalize on students’ interest in technology may generate enthusiasm for course content in gerontology. We describe a unique classroom activity that supports discussion about retirement issues in older adulthood by leveraging student dexterity in utilizing web applications. In this activity, students act as real estate agents for a retired older adult couple who is relocating to be closer to family. Students are presented with details about the couple, including demographic information (e.g., age, functional limitations, hobbies) and the couple’s “wish list” for features and amenities of their future home. Then, students use these details to choose a home for the couple on Zillow and prepare a “pitch” of the home that is presented to the class and judged by the course instructor. Feedback from students suggests that this activity offers a “real world application to course material” and facilitates enthusiasm about course content.

Mass trauma events affect everyone including children. Resulting symptomatic problems for children can be addressed by clinical professionals yet at some point following these mass trauma events children must return to school but their teachers are seldom prepared to work with them to facilitate a return to learning, though they undoubtedly spend much more time with children than do clinical professionals. Workshops held in Spain and Ireland brought together educators from around the world to offer their suggestions for activities that could help children return to learning. The suggested activities are provided in this paper.

Additionally, the study also revealed the teacher’s solutions for the challenges appeared during the English teaching process. Further, it is suggested for the teacher to use jigsaw strategy in teaching that will make the students take an important part in teamwork instead of without doing nothing in a group activity.
