This paper investigates the impact of a plausible set of determinants, namely, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), anti-bribery policy, the industry’s profile and the company’s size on the extent of CSR disclosure in the United States (US). The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) disclosure score is used as a proxy for the extent of CSR disclosure calculated by Bloomberg, incorporating different - in terms of importance - disclosure items. The relationship between the extent of CSR disclosure and its determinants was examined using multiple linear regression analysis incorporating 133 companies listed in S&P Composite 1500 Index for the year 2011. The results illustrate that the company’s size, GHG emissions, DJSI and anti-bribery policy are significantly positively associated with the extent of CSR disclosure. In addition, there are significant differences among the industries’ profile concerning the extent of CSR disclosure. The results cannot be generalized because the sample is based on US listed companies for the year 2011. This study presents initial empirical data investigating different types of disclosures and determinants which extend the scope of previous studies

The purpose of the chapter is to study what effect CSR has on firms' overall performance in a developing country context. While most of the previous empirical researches focused on the relationship between CSR and financial performance, the present study suggests exploring the impact of CSR on overall performance which encompasses economic, environmental, and social dimensions as well as stakeholders. The empirical study aims to analyze and measure the social and environmental involvement of large Moroccan firms operating in the main sectors of activity and located in different geographical areas. Using multiple linear regression analysis, the authors empirically test the impact of CSR on overall performance on a sample of 44 companies. The main findings reveal that CSR is a driver for improving image and reputation, enabling the firm to achieve overall corporate performance. On the basis of the main results, they set out some managerial implications and further directions for CSR research in developing countries.

This study aims to examine the performance of Sharia Banking in Indonesia after experiencing slowing growth due to the impact of the United States crisis in 2008/2009. Factors used to measure the performance of sharia banking represented by ROA are CAR, NPF, BOPO, NM and FDR. This research uses multiple linear regression analysis with sample of research of Bank Muamalat, Bank Mega Syariah, and Bank Syariah Mandiri with the period of research from the first quarter 2008 to the fourth quarter 2011. The result of this research that is NM and FDR have positive significant effect on ROA, while BOPO has a significant negative effect on ROA, CAR and NPF have no influence on ROA.

This paper brings in atention a concept emerging in the United States of America in the 1980s, which is then defined and developed as a theory in the 1990s, namely Public Service Motivation. Based on self-determination theory, the objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between the public service motivation variable and organizational commitment, abusive supervision and salary satisfaction. We have used multiple linear regression analysis as well as linear hierarchical analysis to test these relationships and to control two individual variables, the age and seniority of the participants. Results suggest that the organizational commitment is positively associated, and abusive supervision and satisfaction with salary are negatively associated with public service motivation. Age and seniority variables did not have a statistically significant relationship with the independent variable. Theoretical and practical implications will be discussed.

Purpose: The present study was intended to find out the impact of three important components of marketing mix for tourism i.e. People, Process and Physical Evidence on Satisfaction of Sikh Pilgrims visiting Pakistan and the moderating role of Personal Perceived Risk of Terrorism in the relationship between the aforementioned independent variables and Pilgrims Satisfaction. Design/Methodology/Approach: The present research is based on the philosophy of positivism and it is descriptive and deductive in approach. Data was collected from a sample of 357 Sikh Pilgrims. Multiple linear regression analysis was carried out to test the hypothesized effect of People, Process and Physical Evidence on satisfaction of Sikh Pilgrims and the moderating effect of Personal Perceived Risk of Terrorism. Findings: Findings of the study showed that Physical Evidence and People have a significant positive effect whereas Process has a significant negative effect on satisfaction of Sikh Pilgrims. Personal Perceived Risk of Terrorism was found to have an insignificant moderating effect on the relationship of Process, People and Physical Evidence with Satisfaction. Implications/Originality/Value: The study might help uplift the tourism sector of Pakistan and enhance the relationship between people of different religions of the region.

Abstract : Interpersonal Communication, Learning Motivation. Interpersonal communication between students and lecturers and among students suspected to be a factor that will contribute to increase learning motivation . The purpose of this study, to measure the relationship of interpersonal communication between students and lecturer and among students with learning motivation at Prosthetic Orthotic Department of Health Polytechnic Surakarta. This study was descriptive analytic research with cross sectional approach. The population of this study were all students of Prosthetic Orthotic Department of Health Polytechnic Surakarta. 234 students. The sample were 150 students. The technique to choose the sample used simple random sampling. The technique to collect data used interpersonal communication questionnaires and learning motivation questionnaire. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. There is statistically positive and significant correlation between interpersonal communication between students and lecturers and among students with learning motivation (r = 0.510). The impact amount of interpersonal communication between students and lecturers and among students with learning motivation is 26 % (r2 = 0.260). Interpersonal communication between students and lecturers and among students has correlation with learning motivation.

The tourism industry has come under scrutiny as a human activity that contributes to the increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. While tourism certainly contributes to GHG emissions, it would be interesting to know if the level of tourism has an effect on environmental performance. The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of the level of tourism on GHG emissions on a global level using WDI panel data from 1995 to 2016. The findings indicate that the level of tourism does have an impact on GHG emissions. There is evidence that countries that rely more heavily on tourism as a percentage of GDP, have more tourism arrivals, and have higher tourism density actually have lower amounts of GHG emissions and better environmental performance.

This paper investigates the adjustment of self-initiated expatriates, with a particular emphasis on organizational culture. One hundred and twenty-five self-initiated expatriates around the globe participated in the online survey. We examined the impact that organizational culture has on self-initiated expatriate work and non-work-related adjustment using multiple linear regression analysis. Four types of organizational culture (clan, adhocracy, market, and hierarchy) were explored. The results revealed that Clan culture has a positive effect on the work and non-work-related adjustment of self-initiated expatriates.

This research attempts to empirically identify the impact that SME Characteristics create on the access to finance by SMEs and how the characteristics of the entrepreneur or CEO who owns the SME moderates the relationship between SME Characteristic and their access to finance. Three constructs namely age, gender and educational level are considered to measure the characteristics of the CEO. Data has been collected from 432 SMEs spread across Tamilnadu, India through survey questionnaire. A multiple linear regression analysis is applied on the data collected to identify the relationship between the variables.

Purpose Among all forms of commitment, affective commitment has been shown to be the most desirable for enterprises. However, research on commitment among employees in family-run businesses in the hospitality industry is scant. To address this gap, this study aims to analyze the impact of employer image components on hospitality employees’ affective occupational commitment within family-run businesses. As one can assume specific employer image aspects when studying family-run businesses, this paper expects to achieve a better understanding of the relationship between employer image and employee commitment in this context. Design/methodology/approach This study adopts the employer image framework of Baum and Kabst (2013), emphasizing that in addition to considering potential employees, the commitment of current employees needs to be assessed. Convenience sampling is used to obtain a sample from the target population (Tyrolean hospitality and gastronomy employees) from June to September 2018. Multiple linear regression analysis is applied to test the influence of individual employer image constituents on employees’ affective occupational commitment. Findings Among the five components of the employer image framework applied here, working atmosphere, task attractiveness and payment attractiveness show a significant influence on employees’ affective occupational commitment. Originality/value This study connects an existing employer image model to employee commitment within the hospitality industry. The findings suggest that the model is applicable to current employees as a key stakeholder group and shows the utility of employer image theory in connection with employee commitment.
