Urbanization process in the Republic of Lithuania has formed a strong visual, cultural and economic gap between rural and urban areas. Lithuanian villages face major social, cultural changes and economic difficulties, which result in increasing migration of people to cities and foreign countries. Everyone could self-realize only in a safe and comfortable environment. The right environment, in which persons feel safe and are able to realize their potential in activities, can be created by spatial planning. Lithuanian scientists talk much about problems in territorial planning, but no particular proposals are offered and state institutions do not take any measures in order to stop this chaotic urbanization. There are a lot of problems related with land usage, so it is very important to create the sustainable model of land usage in Lithuania.

We have examined the history of education service provision in the Republic of Ireland for persons with intellectual disabilities. We distinguished between children with mild or general learning difficulties and those with severe and profound intellectual disabilities as the development of educational services for these two groups has differed dramatically. Distinctions between rural and urban educational systems were made where appropriate. We have purposefully neglected to address services for students with moderate intellectual disabilities as we believe that those services for students with mild and severe intellectual disabilities will give the reader an overall flavour of educational services in Ireland within the context of this brief report. The current context of educational service provision in Ireland has also been highlighted with recent debates and suggestions for future development presented.

Abstract As the competent laws on Health and Education of the Extremaduran Government read, all the Extremaduran people have the right to their benefits, irrespective of their social, economic and cultural characteristics. Nevertheless, in the Region of Extremadura there are still differences between the rural and urban areas, so, studying how the Extremaduran people can access, with the same conditions, to those services considered basic, such as health and education, is very significant. Using techniques as Network Analyst and the interpolation method IDW, we can note that in Extremadura there are still zones with a very-far- from- laws reality, rural areas with a difficult access to the named services and equipment due to the location on low developed in population and economy areas, and very far from the main communication roads

The text presents, through statistical data, a reflection on the situation of basic schooling of the population residing in the countryside, vis-à-vis the population residing in the urban area, in order to understand advances and permanence of the conditions of the educational offer and its effects in the distance and in the approximation of the guarantee of social justice and the right to schooling. The methodological process involved content analysis and the construction of quantitative data provided by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP) and the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA). For the study, these categories were selected: number of countryside schools, years of study and schooling access by location (rural/urban). The data express an inequality situation in the schooling indicators of rural areas and the Brazilian North and Northeast regions. Despite the advances, the inequalities in the Brazilian educational system are significant and strongly evidenced in the contrast between rural and urban areas. The persistence of unfavorable situations increases the inequality condition of the rural population.

Many studies have been conducted in the field of research on the stimulating domestic music environment, which show that the decision to engage children in music, in addition to internal factors in the family, can be influenced by external factors, such as the environment in which families live, too. Active inclusion of Slovenes in choirs is one of the most widespread free activities in the Republic of Slovenia, because according to the Public Fund of the Republic of Slovenia for Culture, more than 64.000 people sing in choirs. However, given that Slovenia is a very diverse country, especially in geographical terms, the mentality of people in different environments is very different, although in Slovenia creative people live in both rural and urban areas. Since in the article we discover, whether singing activity is higher in rural than in urban areas, we will define what both is and what are the characteristics of choirs in Slovenia, and then explore the differences between the above activities of parents and children in both areas. In this paper, we find that there are more active singing groups in urban areas, which include families, where both – children and parents – sing in a choir, than in rural areas, which we attribute to “rurbanization”, which blurs the boundaries between rural and urban settlements and their functions. The paper also confirms the assumption that the stimulating domestic music environment (singing at home, attending concerts with parents and parents' opinion that the stimulating musical environment offered to children at home strongly influences their participation in choirs) is related children's singing in choirs.

Integrated rural development enables linking agriculture with other economic activities whereby an adequate approach to regional development contributing to a more balanced development among regions. The aim of this research is to indicate that with the concept of integral rural development the differences between regions or rural and urban areas of Serbia could be reduced. Through the Kruskal-Wallis test for comparison of groups, the important differences were compared, where the results of research showed that they are very significant, especially between the Belgrade Region and the predominantly rural regions of Serbia. These differences can be overcome in rural areas if agriculture is more intensively linked with tertiary and secondary sectors.

Objective. To analyze the incidence of infectious diseases (IDs) and healthcare resources spent on treatment of ID patients in the Republic of Tatarstan (RT) in 2005–2017. Materials and methods. The analysis of ID incidence in the RT was based on the official statistics (report forms No 2 and No12) for 2005–2017. To assess the situation with medical care for ID patients, we used final reports for the ID service of the Ministry of Health of the RT for 2005–2017. Results. Between 2005 and 2017, the prevalence of IDs in the RT decreased by 10.8%; the incidence of IDs decreased by 17% during this period (primarily in adults (18.7%). In rural and urban areas, the incidence decreased by 29.2% and 16.6%, respectively. The number of outpatient ID departments was reduced by 28.8%; the number of hospital beds was reduced by 50.2%; the number of ID specialists was reduced by 27.1%. These reductions limited the availability of healthcare for ID patients. Conclusion. We observed a decrease in the ID incidence in the RT in 2005–2017, as well as a reduction of staff and funding in ID clinics, which reduced availability of specialized medical care to patients with ID. We found a significant correlation between the ID incidence and situation with medical care in specialized healthcare institutions for ID. Key words: infectious disease specialists, incidence of infectious diseases, outpatient departments for infectious diseases, number of beds, mortality

The paper focuses on the importance of organized educational support for students in their professional self-determination. It reviews the list of professional competencies defined in the professional standard for teachers dealing with self-determination in students and analyses the basic requirements set for teacher education programmes. The system of professional self-determination for young people is described basing on the experience of the Republic of Mordovia, where career guidance in schools is regulated by the Regional Educational Module “Start into the Profession”. This module was developed according to the specifics of the given region and represents an integrated system of activities aimed at efficient career guidance for students living in rural and urban areas of the Republic of Mordovia.
