For the last few decades, the generalized pattern of tropical cyclones has gone through an unstable system transformation in the global changing climatic scenario. Thus, the broad aim of this research work was to explore the spatio-temporal changing pattern of tropical cyclones in the basin of the Bay of Bengal between 1985 and 2019. Cyclone track information data have been collected from Emergency Events Database (EM-DAT) server and Bangladesh Meteorological Department. The loss and damage statistics has been collected from different published sources. Geographical distributional characteristics such as mean center and standard directional distribution have been explored using the spatial statistical tool of ArcMap. The mean geographic center has been identified near the district of Bhola and Patuakhali. The cyclonic occurrences in the research area are oriented north-west to south-east according to standard directional distribution. Hot spot analysis was used to identify the most affected parts in the study area and found that there are no significant hotspots, but the distribution pattern is rather random. However, there are two minor concentration zones in the study area, one near Barguna and another one near Sandwip coast. SPSS software was also used here to analyze the relationship between cyclonic events and the loss/damage scenarios of the study area. The relationship between cyclonic velocity and damage of life and livelihood showed a strong correlation of .804 with a significance level of 99% (p < .01). Random cyclonic trends and patterns indicate a change in this region's climatic variability over the past 35 years.

A number of clinical studies have revealed that there is an association between major depression (MD) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Both the diseases are shown to affect a large proportion of the global population. More advanced studies for understanding the comorbidity mechanism of these two diseases can shed light on developing new therapies of both diseases. To the best of our knowledge, there has not been any research work in the literature investigating the relationship between MD and GERD using their miRNA biomarkers. We adopt a phylogenetic analysis to analyze their miRNA biomarkers. From our analyzed results, the association between these two diseases can be explored through miRNA phylogeny. In addition to evidence from the phylogenetic analysis, we also demonstrate epidemiological evidence for the relationship between MD and GERD based on Taiwan biobank data.

Living in a world where we can expand our economic wealth and the richness of human life is the core of the human development concept. Greater well-being for all can be achieved by improving people’s capabilities and more importantly, by giving individuals the ability to use their knowledge and skills. The economic complexity index (i.e., ECI) is a new indicator that defines a country’s complexity. Through a vast network, citizens can transfer an enormous quantity of relevant knowledge, leading to the creation of diversified and complex products. However, the relationship between economic complexity and human development is not that simple. Thus, this paper aimed to understand it deeper—international migration and logistics performance are used as moderators. Hierarchical linear modeling was the statistical tool used to analyze two groups of countries from 1990 to 2017. For robustness and to deal with possible endogeneity issues, different year lags were also included. The results show that international migration and logistics performance are decisive moderators as they change the relationship between economic complexity and human development.

AbstractIn recent years, the incidence of fatigue has been increasing, and the effective prevention and treatment of fatigue has become an urgent problem. As a result, the genetic research of fatigue has become a hot spot. Transcriptome-level regulation is the key link in the gene regulatory network. The transcriptome includes messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs). MRNAs are common research targets in gene expression profiling. Noncoding RNAs, including miRNAs, lncRNAs, circRNAs and so on, have been developed rapidly. Studies have shown that miRNAs are closely related to the occurrence and development of fatigue. MiRNAs can regulate the immune inflammatory reaction in the central nervous system (CNS), regulate the transmission of nerve impulses and gene expression, regulate brain development and brain function, and participate in the occurrence and development of fatigue by regulating mitochondrial function and energy metabolism. LncRNAs can regulate dopaminergic neurons to participate in the occurrence and development of fatigue. This has certain value in the diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). CircRNAs can participate in the occurrence and development of fatigue by regulating the NF-κB pathway, TNF-α and IL-1β. The ceRNA hypothesis posits that in addition to the function of miRNAs in unidirectional regulation, mRNAs, lncRNAs and circRNAs can regulate gene expression by competitive binding with miRNAs, forming a ceRNA regulatory network with miRNAs. Therefore, we suggest that the miRNA-centered ceRNA regulatory network is closely related to fatigue. At present, there are few studies on fatigue-related ncRNA genes, and most of these limited studies are on miRNAs in ncRNAs. However, there are a few studies on the relationship between lncRNAs, cirRNAs and fatigue. Less research is available on the pathogenesis of fatigue based on the ceRNA regulatory network. Therefore, exploring the complex mechanism of fatigue based on the ceRNA regulatory network is of great significance. In this review, we summarize the relationship between miRNAs, lncRNAs and circRNAs in ncRNAs and fatigue, and focus on exploring the regulatory role of the miRNA-centered ceRNA regulatory network in the occurrence and development of fatigue, in order to gain a comprehensive, in-depth and new understanding of the essence of the fatigue gene regulatory network.

Entrepreneurship, as one of the important factors to promote industrial innovation, is closely related to the development of the regional economy. Based on the methods of Kernel density and standard deviation ellipse, this article presents the spatio-temporal patterns of entrepreneurship and innovation performance. The article also examines the spatial spillover mechanism of entrepreneurship on innovation performance by establishing spatial Durbin models. The heterogeneous results of the spatial regression models in six clusters are also discussed. The final results show that the spatio-temporal patterns of entrepreneurship are gradually presenting three major hot spots and two secondary hot spots while the spatio-temporal patterns of innovation performance are presenting four major hot spots and a secondary hot spot; the spatial distribution of both entrepreneurship and innovation performance are changing regularly; the spillover effects of entrepreneurship and innovation performance are both significant; the spatial spillover mechanisms in six automobile industrial clusters are different. The results can provide empirical support for decision-making in the automobile industry in China in the future.

University students consume live music; however, almost 40% declare that they have never attended a flamenco show, an intangible heritage of humankind. Numerous studies have shown that cultural capital and socioeconomic profile, among other factors, are variables that influence cultural consumption, and therefore, cultural sustainability. Considering the relationship between several variables, this paper pursues a double objective. On the one hand, identifying the factors that influence attendance at flamenco shows, and on the other, proposing a predictive model that quantifies the likelihood of an individual attending a flamenco show. To this end, we analyse flamenco consumption by means of a survey conducted on 452 university students, using Multilayer Perceptrom (a non-parametric model), a methodology based on an artificial neural network. Our results confirm the importance of cultural capital, as well as personal and external factors, among other. The findings of this research work are of potential interest for management and planning of cultural events, as well as to promote cultural sustainability.

A spatially and environmentally explicit egg production model is developed to accommodate a number of assumptions about the relationship between egg production and mortality and associated environmental variables. The general model was tested under different assumptions for Atlanto-Iberian sardine. It provides a flexible estimator of egg production, in which a range of assumptions and hypotheses can be tested in a structured manner within a well-defined statistical framework. Application of the model to Atlanto-Iberian sardine increased the precision of the egg production time-series, and allowed improvements to be made in understanding the spatio-temporal variability in egg production, as well as implications for ecology and stock assessment.
