In this work, Pt(II) complexes of previously synthesized steroidal thiosemicarbazones were synthesized and characterized. The ligands and their metal complexes were studied by analytical and spectroscopic data (elemental analysis, IR, 1D NMR and 2D NMR, HSQC, HMBC, NOESY, COSY), the analysis of which enabled complete 1H and 13C assignments of each compound including E and Z isomers. All the synthesized ligands and complexes were screened for their cytotoxic and antimicrobial activity. The results demonstrate that new steroidal thiosemicarbazone complexes were significantly less cytotoxic than corresponding steroidal thiosemicarbazones. Also, complexes show lower antimicrobial activity than the standard drugs, similar to the activity of the starting thiosemicarbazones.

Herein, we report the synthesis of eight new mononuclear and binuclear Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+ methoxy thiosemicarbazone (MTSC) complexes aiming at obtaining thiosemicarbazone complex with potent biological activity. The structure of the MTSC ligand and its metal complexes was fully characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopic techniques (NMR, FTIR, UV-Vis), molar conductivity, thermogravimetric analysis (TG), and thermal differential analysis (DrTGA). The spectral and analytical data revealed that the obtained thiosemicarbazone-metal complexes have octahedral geometry around the metal center, except for the Zn2+-thiosemicarbazone complexes, which showed a tetrahedral geometry. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of the MTSC ligand and its (Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+) metal complexes were also investigated. Interestingly, the antibacterial activity of MTSC- metal complexes against examined bacteria was higher than that of the MTSC alone, which indicates that metal complexation improved the antibacterial activity of the parent ligand. Among different metal complexes, the MTSC- mono- and binuclear Cu2+ complexes showed significant antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Proteus vulgaris, better than that of the standard gentamycin drug. The in silico molecular docking study has revealed that the MTSC ligand could be a potential inhibitor for the oxidoreductase protein.

One pot synthesis and reaction of triazinthione and triazinohydrazide derivatives with different electrophilic reagents in ordered to synthesis of some interesting non-mixed heterocyclic compounds. Structures of thiazolotriazine, triazolotriazine, pyrimidinyltriazine, and triazinotriazine derivatives were established via spectroscopic data and elemental analysis. The synthesized compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity.

The reactions of dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates with various 2-oxo-acenaphthoquinylidene- and 4-acetyl[2.2]paracyclophanylidene-thiosemicarbazones were investigated. Using simple experimental procedures, 1,3-Thiazolidin-4-ones derived from acenaphthequinone or [2.2]paracyclophane were obtained as major products in good yields. In the case of allyl derivative of acenaphthoquinylidene-thiosemicarbazones, a complex structure of tetramethyl 5-(2-(((Z,E)-N-allyl-N′-(2-oxoacenaphthylen-1(2H)-ylidene)carbamohydrazonoyl)thio)-1,2,3-tris-(methoxycarbonyl)-cyclopropyl)-4-methoxy-7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]hepta-2,5-diene-1,2,3,6-tetracarboxylate was formed. Single crystal X-ray analysis was used as an efficient tool to confirm the structure of the synthesized compounds as well as different spectroscopic data (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 2D-NMR, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis). The mechanism of the obtained products was discussed.

Metal complexes of the title ligand (L) containing Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic spectroscopy and conductimetry. The new derivatives, possessing the following formulae, CuL2(OH)2, NiL2Cl2, and [Co2LCl4]n showed in vitro antifungal activity against Aspergillus and Candida spp.

The organic extracts of the Red Sea soft coral Paralemnalia thyrsoides has led to the identification of two neolemnane-type sesquiterpenoids: paralemnolins X and Y (1, 2). In addition to these newly characterized compounds, ten known metabolites (3–12) were isolated. Previously reported compounds were elucidated by literature comparison of spectroscopic data (1D and 2D NMR as well as MS data). In vitro antimicrobial activity was investigated for compounds (1–12) against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. Compound 5 showed antimicrobial activity against all assayed microorganisms.

By taking the biological activity of 3-chloro-4-hydrazinocarbonyl-methoxy-benzenesulphondibuthylamide and of some transitional metals (Cu, Co, Cr, Fe, Mn, Ni, Sn) into account we considered it useful to capitalize the already obtained hydrazide by complexion reactions with various metallic salts. The reaction was carried out in the organic solvent medium, by heating under stirring. The obtained products were purified by recrystallization from organic solvents (especially ethanol) and characterized by means of melting points, elemental analysis and spectral measurements.

Anthranilic acid was reacted with various substituted 6-bromoquinazolinones in the presence of Cu-powder and anhydrous potassium carbonate in DMF to give acid intermediates (Ullmann Type-II condensation). All these acids were then cyclized in phosphorus oxychloride to give 11-chloropyrimido[4,5-b]acridin-4(3H)-ones. All the synthesized compounds were identified by conventional methods (1H-NMR, IR, elemental analysis) and were screened for their antimicrobial activity on some bacterial and fungal cultures. The results were compared with standard bactericides and fungicides. All the synthesized compounds exhibited moderate antibacterial and antifungal activity. .

Pyrazoline is dihydropyrazole having only one endocyclic double bond. Synthesis of pyrazoline derivatives from chalcones is an active arena of investigation due to established pharmacological result. In present study, chalcones were prepared by reacting of acetophenone with benzaldehyde. Then prepared chalcones react with isoniazid in the presence of glacial acetic acid results pyrazoline derivative. Physical parameters such as color, crystal structure, solubility, melting point, retardation factor (Rf) and % yield was evaluated. Confirmations of structures of all synthesized derivatives, were done by spectroscopic data of IR, 1HNMR and Mass spectroscopy. Also, all synthesized compounds were evaluated for antibacterial activity against B. subtilis, S. aureus, P.aeruginosa and E.coli, and antifungal activity was accomplished against C. albicans and A. niger at the different conc. and concluded that some compounds have excellent antimicrobial activity and most of the synthesized compounds exhibits moderate antimicrobial activity.

The Schiff base complexes derived from 2-furancarboxaldehyde and N-methyl-2-amino phenol have been prepared and characterized using several physical techniques, like elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, magnetic moment measurements, infrared and resonance spectra.N-Methyl-2-amino phenol was condensed stoichiometrically with 2-furancarboxaldehyde in presence of methanol. The resulting 1,7-di(2-hydroxyphenyl) 1,7 di(N-methyl) aza-1,3,5 heptarine-3-ol hydrochloride was characterized by elemental analysis and spectral studies. The transition metal complexes of Cu2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Co2+and Mn2+of the synthesized complexes were prepared. Metal ligand (M:L) ratio, IR, reflectance spectral studies, magnetic properties and antimicrobial activity of the synthesized complexes and its metal complexes were carried out.
