The study was carried out to observe the effect of this biofertilizer (MOC) on the Body Muscle Protein (BMP) of Channa punctatus having average length 15.26±0.52cm and weight 28.85±5.028gm. At sub lethal concentration (0.42g.l -1 ), fishes were exposed for prolonged period and muscle protein was measured on 0, 7 th , 14 th , 21 th and 28 th days respectively. Five fishes were sacrificed after each day of exposure to estimate the amount of protein concentration in the muscle following Folin-phenol reagent method. A significant (p<0.05) increase in BMP was observed with the advance of days treatment. After an initial fall, the rise in the BMP concentration, indicating the experimental fish were suffered initially and ultimately victorious and able to increase the protein level in their body.

Abstract In this study, daidzein long-circulating liposomes (DLCL) were prepared using the ultrasonication and lipid film-hydration method. The optimized preparation conditions by the orthogonal design was as follows: 55 to 40 for the molar ratio of soybean phosphatidylcholine (SPC) to cholesterol, 1 to 10 for the mass ratio of daidzein to total lipid (SPC and cholesterol) (w:w), the indicated concentration of 5% DSPE-mPEG2000 (w:w), 50 °C for the hydration temperature, and 24 min for the ultrasonic time. Under these conditions, the encapsulation efficiency and drug loading of DLCL were 85.3 ± 3.6% and 8.2 ± 1.4%, respectively. The complete release times of DLCL in the medium of pH 1.2 and pH 6.9 increased by four- and twofold of that of free drugs, respectively. After rats were orally administered, a single dose of daidzein (30 mg/kg) and DLCL (containing equal dose of daidzein), respectively, and the MRT0−t (mean residence time, which is the time required for the elimination of 63.2% of drug in the body), t1/2 (the elimination half-life, which is the time required to halve the plasma drug concentration of the terminal phase), and AUC0−t (the area under the plasma drug concentration-time curve, which represents the total absorption after a single dose and reflects the drug absorption degree) of daidzein in DLCL group, increased by 1.6-, 1.8- and 2.5-fold as compared with those in the free group daidzein. Our results indicated that DLCL could not only reduce the first-pass effect of daidzein to promote its oral absorption, but also prolong its mean resident time to achieve the slow-release effect.

Sepsis initiates a unique series of modifications in the homeostasis of N metabolism and profoundly alters the integration of inter-organ cooperatively in the overall N and energy economy of the host. The net effect of these alterations is an overall N catabolic state, which seriously compromises recovery and is semi-refractory to treatment with current therapies. These alterations lead to a functional redistribution of N (amino acids and proteins) and substrate metabolism among injured tissues and major body organs. The redistribution of amino acids and proteins results in a quantitative reordering of the usual pathways of C and N flow within and among regions of the body with a resultant depletion of the required substrates and cofactors in important organs. The metabolic response to sepsis is a highly integrated, complex series of reactions. To understand the regulation of the response to sepsis, a comprehensive, integrated analysis of the fundamental physiological relationships of key metabolic pathways and mechanisms in sepsis is essential. The catabolism of skeletal muscles, which is manifested by an increase in protein degradation and a decrease in synthesis, persists despite state-of-the-art nutritional care. Much effort has focused on the modulation of the overall amount of nutrients given to septic patients in a hope to improve efficiencies in utilisation and N economies, rather than the support of specific end-organ targets. The present review examines current understanding of the processes affected by sepsis and testable means to circumvent the sepsis-induced defects in protein synthesis in skeletal muscle through increasing provision of amino acids (leucine, glutamine, or arginine) that in turn act as nutrient signals to regulate a number of cellular processes.

The present study was conducted to determine the contribution of muscle protein synthesis to the prevention of anesthesia-induced hypothermia by intravenous administration of an amino acid (AA) mixture. We examined the changes of intraperitoneal temperature (Tcore) and the rates of protein synthesis ( Ks) and the phosphorylation states of translation initiation regulators and their upstream signaling components in skeletal muscle in conscious (Nor) or propofol-anesthetized (Ane) rats after a 3-h intravenous administration of a balanced AA mixture or saline (Sal). Compared with Sal administration, the AA mixture administration markedly attenuated the decrease in Tcore in rats during anesthesia, whereas Tcore in the Nor-AA group became slightly elevated during treatment. Stimulation of muscle protein synthesis resulting from AA administration was observed in each case, although Ks remained lower in the Ane-AA group than in the Nor-Sal group. AA administration during anesthesia significantly increased insulin concentrations to levels ∼6-fold greater than in the Nor-AA group and enhanced phosphorylation of eukaryotic initiation factor 4E-binding protein-1 (4E-BP1) and ribosomal protein S6 protein kinase relative to all other groups and treatments. The alterations in the Ane-AA group were accompanied by hyperphosphorylation of protein kinase B and the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR). These results suggest that administration of an AA mixture during anesthesia stimulates muscle protein synthesis via insulin-mTOR-dependent activation of translation initiation regulators caused by markedly elevated insulin and, thereby, facilitates thermal accumulation in the body.

Depressed patients tend to be forgetful, and for them a simple dosage regimen is particularly appropriate. The use of a single daily dosage depends on the drug having a relatively long (over 36 hours) half-life in the body and being tolerated in a single large dose. Many tricyclic anti-depressives fulfil these requirements provided that the single dose is given before the patient goes to bed. Unwanted effects such as dry mouth and blurred vision, which are troublesome during the day, are not a problem during sleep. The sedative actions of many of these drugs can help the insomniac depressed patient who might otherwise need a separate hypnotic.

This study's purpose was to examine whether functional overload with nandrolone decanoate (ND) administration increased muscle mass and steroid receptor concentration in aged rat soleus (Sol) and plantaris (Plan) muscle. ND (6 mg/kg body wt) was administered once a week for 4 wk, whereas control rats received sesame seed oil injections. Functional overload of the hindlimb Sol and Plan was induced by synergistic gastrocnemius muscle ablation at the beginning of the fourth week. Adult (5 mo of age) and aged rats (25 mo of age) were randomly assigned to four groups: control, overload, control-ND, and overload-ND. Seven days of functional overload increased adult Sol muscle mass 27%, whereas the aged Sol muscle mass did not change. The aged overloaded Sol muscle receiving ND significantly increased muscle weight by 35% and total muscle protein by 24%. Aged Plan muscle did not increase muscle weight with overload or ND treatment. Androgen receptor protein was induced by ND treatment and functional Ov, and combining the two treatments induced Sol androgen receptor protein concentration above either alone. Sol glucocorticoid receptor protein concentration increased in overload groups of both ages. ND administration can increase aged Sol muscle mass and protein content after 7 days of functional overload, and the cooperative induction of androgen receptor may be important for this response.

1. We have not observed gross increases in plasma volume in glomerulonephritis, nephrosis, or nephrosclerosis, even when the concentration of plasma proteins was much below normal. Our results indicate the probability that "hydremic plethora" does not occur. 2. The low protein concentration frequently observed in the plasma in nephritis is not due to increased plasma volume but to a decrease of the total amount of plasma protein in the body. 3. Changes in plasma volume showed no constant relationship to changes in edema.

ABSTRACTSeasonal fluctuations in oestrous activity and live weight were studied in ewes of the Marwari breed indigenous to the Rajasthan Desert in north-western India. Of the ewes examined 80 to 100% were in oestrus every month of the year, indicating thereby the non-seasonality of female reproductive activity in this breed. On average, each ewe exhibited heat 18 times a year. The incidence of silent heats was low (4·2 %). The average length of an oestrous cycle was 17 days, while the actual period of oestrus varied from 24 to 48 h with an average of 36 h. No seasonal effect on these activities could be observed. The maximum and minimum body weights of the animals were recorded during the autumn (October) and summer (June) months respectively. The body weights differed significantly (P<0·05) between months. Sexual activity in these animals is, therefore, apparently not affected by changes in body weight. The continuous nature of oestrous activity in Marwari sheep may be economically exploited by regulating the lambing season according o t the prevailing ecological conditions and market demands, without the use of hormones.

Several studies have indicated a positive effect of exercise (especially resistance exercise) on the mTOR signaling that control muscle protein synthesis and muscle remodeling. However, the relationship between exercise, mTOR activation and leucine-sensing requires further clarification. Two month old Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to aerobic exercise (treadmill running at 20 m/min, 6° incline for 60 min) and resistance exercise (incremental ladder climbing) for 4 weeks. The gastrocnemius muscles were removed for determination of muscle fibers diameter, cross-sectional area (CSA), protein concentration and proteins involved in muscle leucine-sensing and protein synthesis. The results show that 4 weeks of resistance exercise increased the diameter and CSA of gastrocnemius muscle fibers, protein concentration, the phosphorylation of mTOR (Ser2448), 4E-BP1(Thr37/46), p70S6K (Thr389), and the expression of LeuRS, while aerobic exercise just led to a significant increase in protein concentration and the phosphorylation of 4E-BP1(Thr37/46). Moreover, no difference was found for Sestrin2 expression between groups. The current study shows resistance exercise, but not aerobic exercise, may increase muscle protein synthesis and protein deposition, and induces muscle hypertrophy through LeuRS/mTOR signaling pathway. However, further studies are still warranted to clarify the exact effects of vary intensities and durations of aerobic exercise training.

The protein level of breast milk affected the growth and development of infants. Protein has special function which is irreplaceable by other nutrients to form and protect the body cells. Protein also plays a role as antibody, functions as the body defense mechanism against various diseases and infections. Infant death in Indonesia is mostly caused by respiratory tract infections and diarrhea. Breastfeeding can help to prevent the occurrence of morbidity and mortality of infants and toddlers in which the breast milk contains many essential nutrients needed by the body, one of them is protein. The aim of this research was to analyze the effect of contraception on breast milk protein level of breastfeeding mothers in Jember regency. The design of this research was observational analytic with cross sectional approach, using statistic test of logistic regression. The result of the research showed that the effect of contraception on the protein level of breast milk obtained p-value=0.021 with Exp(B)=566.263. Based on the research, it can be concluded that there was an effect of contraception on breast milk protein level. Keywords: infection; breastmilk protein; contraception
