Prospects and Challenges of Indonesian Exports to Non-Traditional Market: Measuring The Competitiveness of Indonesian Products in UAE Market

The US-China Trade War and the COVID-19 pandemic are unprecedented incidents involving Indonesia's traditional markets as the main actors, i.e. the US and China which impacted Indonesia's economy and trade indirectly. Market diversification to new market or non-traditional market is one way out that can be done to minimize the impact of the global crisis on the country, when traditional markets are unreliable, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that has made a positive contribution both in investment and trade for Indonesia in the midst of a pandemic. However, Indonesia's exports to the UAE experienced a significant decline in 2018 after previous two years continued to increase. So that knowing the competitiveness of Indonesia's export products in the UAE is the purpose of this study. This research answers the prospects and challenges of Indonesian export products in the UAE by measuring the export performance in 2016-2018 using the Constant Market Share (CMS) and Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) analysis methods. This research uses descriptive quantitative method with secondary data and triangulation of data sources, methods, and theories as the validity and reliability methods. The results of this study indicate that CMS and RCA analysis output are different so that the prospects and challenges for Indonesian products are also explained by the Indonesian approach and trade policies which lead to the conclusion that the UAE is a potential market to become non-traditional market for Indonesian economic development when its traditional markets are unreliable.

The growth of Modern Stores in Indonesia is very rapid, experiencing growth from year to year, this condition is offset by demand from large communities and increasingly enjoys the convenience and comfort of shopping in modern stores. However, Sleman Regency D.I. Yogyakarta provides a number of rules as outlined in Regional Regulation No. 18 of 2012 concerning Licensing of Shopping Centers and Modern Stores, which it is hoped that this regulation will have a significant impact on equitable distribution between modern shops and traditional markets in Sleman Regency, YogyakartaReferring to the Regional Regulation, this research was carried out to see the impact of the application of the Modern Shop business permit to the existence of traditional markets in Sleman Regency D.I. Yogyakarta. In this study 200 samples were taken by distributing 250 questionnaires with a distribution of 125 questionnaires to managers and modern shop owners and 125 questionnaires to traditional shop owners in the traditional market of Sleman Regency D.I. Yogyakarta, which finally received 200 questionnaires. The method used for sampling is a non probability sampling method that is sampling by specifying specific criteria on respondents. Data collection techniques using questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques using multiple linear regression analysis and data processed with SPSS software. The variables used in this study are 4 independent variables namely Business Location Aspects, Social Aspects, Partnership Aspects with MSMEs and Use of Local Workers Aspects, and 1 dependent variable namely the Existence of Traditional Markets. From the results of the research analysis it was concluded that the business location aspect variable (X1) had no impact on the existence of traditional markets with negative B1 (- 0.799) and t count was smaller than t table, Variable Social Aspects (X2) had no impact on the existence of Traditional Markets with B2 negative (-1,334) and t count smaller than t table, Variable Aspects of Partnership with MSME (X3) have an impact on the existence of Traditional Markets with positive B3 (9,153) and t count is greater than t table, Variable Aspects of Use of Power Local Work (X4) has an impact on the existence of Traditional Markets with positive B4 (1,646) and t count is greater than t table, and the four Independent Variables together have an impact on the dependent variable The existence of Traditional Market Sleman DIY Regency is allegedly also influenced by variables other variables not examined in this study.Keywords : modern shop, traditional market, Sleman Regency D.I. Pork consumers prefer it because it has a unique taste. This study aims to determine the factors that influence meat pork consumer behavior and determine the potential segmentation of consumers in traditional markets. The study was conducted in the traditional markets of Pematangsiantar City, namely Horas and Dwikora Parluasan traditional market. It lasted from September 2020 until November 2020. In this study, primary data was obtained from observations and interviews with 70 consumers of meat pork buyers in traditional markets. Secondary data were obtained from related agencies such as the Central Bureau of Statistics and Animal Husbandary Department. The results showed that the characteristics of consumers influenced the potential segment of consumers in meat pork purchasing decisions. The variables of quality and number of families show a relationship of partial influence with the amount of consumption in the analysis of consumer behavior. However, the variables of age, occupation, education, income, and price of pork do not show a partial relationship with consumption.

This study aims to explore more information about the economic performance of Nepal and the impact on the economy caused by foreign trade. The trade deficit impacted directly on the financial performance of the country. It affected the GDP of the nation, supply side, interest rate, price of commodities and FDI. The article has discussed the relationship with the major trading partner of Nepal and other countries. Besides this, a quantitative research method was used in this research paper. Information in this article was collected from a secondary source of data. The reliability of this study depended on the reliability of secondary data. The analysis was based on a simple statistical tool. Concerning the methodology, it is based on exploratory data analysis. The comparison has been made in this paper with primary trading partner countries India, China and other countries. This study has found the deficient export performance of Nepal, which has created the problem of rapidly increasing trade deficit. Trade deficit became one of the major causes that lead the national economy to downturn side.

The presence of modern market in Bengkulu city indirectly affects the shopping pattern of Bengkulu city community which in turn will affect the performance of traders in traditional markets. This research is conducted to investigate the impact of modern market presence on the traditional market with parameter observed including the turnover amount of merchants, merchandise turnover, number of traders, number of trader hours, profit margins of traditional traders in Bengkulu city before and after the establishment of a modern market. The population in this study are oil, sugar and durable goods traders and fruit traders in traditional markets, which are still actively trading before and after the establishment of modern traditional markets. Twenty fife durable good traders and 15 fruit traders are selected randomly. Data is analyzed using Paired t-test method. The results show that there are differences in turnover, opening hours, and profit margins of traditional traders in Bengkulu city before and after the establishment of a modern market. Suggestion in this research is to enforcediscipline and control of officer routinely to the illegal traders not to trade along the road and sidewalk.Keywords: impact, turnover, opening hours, profit margins

This article is data obtained from interviews with traders in traditional and modern markets about the impact of criminal acts due to the corona virus outbreak in Indonesia. The data is supported by secondary data collected from official sources, among others published by the ministry of trade and other social media. The purpose of writing this article is to provide input on a corona virus epidemic prevention plan and mitigate the impact of criminal acts due to hoax news related to corona virus outbreaks. The impact of the corona virus outbreak in the community is the accumulation of protective masks that cause the price of masks to rise in the market, the spread of hoaxes by people who are not responsible, among others; hoax news with the contents "corona virus cannot stand the heat", and "red ginger, kaempferiagalanga, curcuma, pepper are considered as drugs that can fight the corona virus" which results in an increase in the price of rhizomes and spices and is becoming rare in the traditional market. The stakeholders under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministers undertook strategic actions including the National Police and the Ministry of Health and the Regional Head who carried out market operations for the distribution of masks, ginger and spices distribution in traditional markets. As a result, the team formed by the National Police, assisted by the Ministry of Health, succeeded in capturing mask hoarders in the Jakarta area. The hoarders are prosecuted by carrying out law enforcement and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

MSME proved resilient to crises, but its performance did not improve. Indonesian MSMEs when compared to other countries have low export competitiveness. The Covid-19 pandemic has weakened more than 50% of MSMEs. The research objectives are to analyze the simultaneous and partial effect of the rupiah against the US dollar exchange rate, the growth of MSME, investment, and bank credit on the export of MSME products; analyze the influence of MSME exports on GDP growth; and analyze the effect of MSME exports on employment; and to find out the export performance of MSME during the Covid-19 pandemic. Survey research with technical analysis of OLS Multiple Regression data on secondary data for the 2010-2020 quarter. Research results are: 1) Stability of the Rupiah/USD exchange rate, growth in the number of MSMEs, increased investment, and increased bank lending to the MSME sector as well as controlled inflation rates had a very significant impact on increasing exports of MSME products; 2) Exports of MSME products contribute greatly to GDP and have an impact on increasing people's per capita income; 3) The increasing export value of MSME products encourages MSME entrepreneurs to continue to increase their productivity so that this sector can absorb a significant workforce; 4) MSME's performance in the Covid-19 pandemic was shown by the decline in the value of exports and employment, but the number, investment, credit, and contribution to GDP continued to increase until the end of 2020.

International migration and remittance are major areas of population and development. This study identifies the trend and destination of foreign labor migration in Nepal and highlights the flow of remittance status and its contribution to the gross domestic product in Nepal. This study is based on the secondary data collected from the various national and international organizations. Migration from Nepal has expanded tremendously since the mid-1990s, accompanied by a continuous broadening of the variety of destinations. Nepal has observed a rapid increase of absent population over census periods. International migration for work has changed significantly as is evident in the growing outflow of temporary migration of youths, both men and women, to work in newly emerging economies like Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. Emigration has come to be recognized as an important factor both for changing ways of life of people and for the positive contribution to the nation’s economy. In terms of remittance inflows as percent of GDP, Nepal is the third largest remittance receiver in the world. Taking all these factors into consideration, the only problem with it is that; until now, the government only seems to have adopted policies to encourage youth to find employment opportunities and provide remittance in turn but not for them to invest in productive sector to create more jobs and to retain working age population within the country.

Consumer experience born from the consumption of a product or service gives a distinct impression in the minds of consumers. This impression creates brand loyalty, provided that the appropriate marketing program is designed to provide a unique experience. Article explores a study that uses primary and secondary data at Bengawan Solo Coffee to see the impact of marketing programs based on experience upon customer loyalty towards the Bengawan Solo Coffee brand. Data were collected by direct interviews of selected respondents through purposive sampling. Furthermore, those data were analyzed using several statistical methods, such as normality tests, the validity and reliability, the classic assumption test, Pearson product moment, and multiple regression. The results shows that there are significant correlation between  marketing based on experience (feel, act, and relate) towards brand loyalty. The relationship between experiential marketing (feel and relate) towards brand loyalty is low, while the experiential marketing relationship (act) is quite strong.

The objective of study is to analyze the impact of modern market presence to performance of regional economic. Specification model using simultaneous equations and is suspected by the method of two stages least Squares. Using secondary data for series from 1980 to 2010. The results showed that the presence of a modern market significantly negative effect on the turnover of MSMEs trade sector. Conversely a positive impact on MSME sector of agriculture and manufacture. Scenario modern market presence is significantly negative effect on traditional markets. Number of traditional markets and local government original receipt (PAD) will be decrease. However, overall gross regional domestic product (PDRB) and purchasing power parity are increased, while the number of unemployed decreased. To reduce the negative impact of modern market presence can be done by restricted the license of modern markets, increased access to capital, increased market access by doing a partnership with a modern market.
