<p>This research was conducted to solve the students’ problems in speaking. It is to improve the students’ ability in speaking through story-telling technique by using picture series in terms of content and delivery of the story. The design of  this study was classroom action research which was conducted in two cycles consisting of six meetings. The subjects of this study were students of grade X-9 of<em> MAN 2 Madiun </em>in 2014/2015 academic year. The instruments to collect the data were observation checklists, field notes, speaking task measured using scoring rubrics, and questionnaire. The finding of the study indicated that the implementation of the technique was successful in improving the students’ speaking ability, since the criteria of success were achieved. Implementing the story-telling technique using picture series in teaching speaking encompasses several procedures: 1) understanding the narrative text carefully, 2) understanding grammar and difficult words, 3) employing dictions based on its context, 4) discussing the text in groups, 5) using own sentences to deliver story, 6) avoiding mistakes by having picture series, 7) understanding the message or social value of the text, and 8) giving reward to enhance motivation.</p><p><strong>Keywords</strong>: <em>story-telling</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>picture series</em><em>, speaking ability</em></p>

Abstract: The Use of Picture Media to Enhance Students’ Writing Ability of Recount Text at MTs N 1 of Bengkulu City, Bengkulu. This study was carried out to improve the students’ writing ability through Pictures media in Second Year Students at Mts N 01 of Bengkulu in the academic year 2018-2019. The subjects of this study have consisted of 42 students. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The Classroom Action Research design applied in this study was a collaborative classroom action research. It means that the researcher collaborated with the English teacher of Mts N 01 of Bengkulu as an observer and collaborator. The study was carried out in three cycles. Each cycle consisted of three meetings. The data were gathered in this study through field notes, and test. The result of the study showed that there was an improvement in students’ writing ability. Most of the students gradually gained good scores at the end of each cycle. The score of Minimum Mastery Criterion- Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) of English subject was 70 (seventy). In the cycle, the result of the students' score was poor. In cycle 2 the result of the students' score has some signs of progress, and in the cycle 3, the result of the students' score has improved effectively than action in the cycle before where the mean score of students was in 75 (Good). In addition, there was a positive response from the English Teacher about implementing the action. In conclusion Pictures, media could solve the students’ problems and improve their writing ability.Abstrak: Penggunaan Media Gambar untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Menulis Teks Recount Siswa di MTs N 1 Kota Bengkulu, Bengkulu. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa melalui media Pictures pada Siswa Kelas Dua di Mts N 01 Bengkulu pada tahun akademik 2018-2019. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari 42 siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas kolaboratif. Ini berarti bahwa peneliti berkolaborasi dengan guru bahasa Inggris Mts N 01 dari Bengkulu sebagai pengamat dan kolaborator. Penelitian dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari tiga pertemuan. Data dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini melalui catatan lapangan, dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan kemampuan menulis siswa. Sebagian besar siswa secara bertahap memperoleh skor bagus di akhir setiap siklus. Skor Kriteria Penguasaan Minimum- Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris adalah 70 (tujuh puluh). Pada siklusnya, hasil nilai siswa buruk. Pada siklus 2 hasil skor siswa memiliki beberapa tanda kemajuan, dan pada siklus 3, hasil skor siswa telah meningkat secara efektif daripada tindakan dalam siklus sebelum di mana skor rata-rata siswa berada di 75 (Baik) . Selain itu, ada tanggapan positif dari Guru Bahasa Inggris tentang penerapan tindakan. Kesimpulannya Pictures, media dapat memecahkan masalah siswa dan meningkatkan kemampuan menulis mereka.

This study was aimed at finding out whether the implementation of picture series strategy can improve the ability of the students in writing narrative text. The research design was collaborative action research which consisted of two cycles, in where cycle 1 consisted of three meetings and cycle 2 consisted of four meetings. A cycle consisted of four steps namely: planning the action, acting on the plan, observing the action and reflecting on the observation. The subject of the study was the 34 students. The instruments used to collect data were observation checklist, field notes, questionnaires, scoring rubrics and the students’ writings. The data from the observation, scoring rubrics and questionnaires were analyzed and the results are presented in the form of tables and description, while the data gained from the field notes and the students’ writings were analyzed and reported descriptively. The result of the study showed that the picture series effectively improved the students’ ability in writing narrative texts. All students had reached the minimum score of 3. Moreover, the majority of the students gave positive responses towards the implementation of picture series, in the case that 70% of the students showed excitement. Furthermore, they found that picture series is interesting, easy to understand, moreover, it helped them to organize paragraphs and develop ideas in writing narrative texts. The objective of the research was to find out how students speaking in professional context at the 2nd semester of STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau can be improved through inductive approach. The researcher used Action Research or classroom action research. The research conducted at STKIP PGRI Lubuk Linggau academic year 2014/2015. The research conducted to the students who took speaking class (Speaking for Professional context). The class consists of 34 students. The procedures of the actions were four steps as follows: (1) planning, (2) implementing, (3) observing and (4) reflecting. The findings of the strategy implementation were analyzed from the research instruments used, observation checklists, field notes, speaking test and Interview. There were thirty four (34) students as the samples of class room action research. Based on the product of test, they were 30 of 34 students (88.24 percent) successfully passed the final of speaking test. Based on the interview of 34 students in second semester only 6 students who were still not confidence in speaking and there were 28 students or (82.35 percent) who did not feel easily embarrassed when they spoke in the class especially in formal class. Based on the data above, this classroom action research succeeds to improve students skill in speaking for professional context. It means that, inductive approach that has 6 steps, 13 meeting, and 7 topics was success. Keyword: Speaking, Professional Context, Inductive, Approach

 This study aims to determine the implementation of flash card media in improving Arabic vocabulary mastery. This research is included in classroom action research. The subjects of this study were students of class X IIS 2 Muhammadiyah 5 High School in Yogyakarta academic year 2017/2018. The method used to collect data is observation, tests, documentation, and field notes. The results showed an increase in vocabulary mastery after the use of flash card as a learning medium. The increase can be seen from the pre-test value and the post-test value. The average value of the first cycle class between pre test and post test showed an increase in value of 48 points from the average grade of 30 points in the pre test to 78 points in the test post. so that it can be seen that there is an increase in Arabic vocabulary mastery before and after the action. The increase has not been significant because the average grade is still below the indicator of success. And the average grade in the second cycle between pre-test and post-test shows an increase in value of 70 points from the average grade of 15 points in the pre-test to 85 points in the post-test value. Keywords: Media Flash Card, Arabic Vocabulary

This classroom action research aims firstly is to determine the feasibility of learning by using the physics experimental method, secondly is to improve the critical and creative thinking skills of students of class X MM1 at SMK Negeri 1 Bantul, to improve learning outcomes of class X MM1 students at SMK Negeri 1 Bantul. This research data collection technique using observation, evaluation, field notes, and documentation. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which has 2 (two) cycles through 4 (four) stages starting from planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The subjects of this study was 31 students of class X MM1 SMK Negeri 1 Bantul in the academic year of 2018/2019. The results of the study showed that the application of the physics experimental method was able to improve students' critical and creative thinking skills in class X MM1 SMK Negeri 1 Bantul in the 2018/2019 academic year. This is evidenced by the increase in value in the research instrument. In the student observation sheet, the shown 57.18 it was obtained with the criteria lacking at the initial observation stage, in the first cycle the value increased to 60.16 and in the second cycle the value was 69.56. In addition, classical completeness in the evaluation of learning outcomes also increased, at the initial evaluation classical completeness was 35.48%, in cycle I increased to 51.61% and in cycle II classical completeness became 77.42%.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan meningkatnya keterampilan menulis deskripsi berbahasa Jawa siswa kelas X SMA N 2 Kebumen dengan menggunakan pendekatan proses dan media foto. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas atau classroom action research. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian tindakan Kemmis dan Taggart. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dua siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X2 SMA Negeri 2 Kebumen tahun pelajaran 2011/2012 yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan observasi, catatan lapangan dan tes. Validitas yang digunakan adalah validitas demo-krasi, validitas proses dan validitas dialogis. Teknik yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data dalam penelitian tindakan ini adalah deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) siswa dapat menemukan ide lebih cepat, (2) siswa dapat membuat kerangka karangan, (3) siswa dapat mengembangkan kerang-ka karangan, (4) siswa dapat berpikir sistematis, (5) siswa semakin antusiasnya dalam mengikuti pembelajaran menulis karangan, (6) siswa paham melakukan proses mengarang. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ PHOTOGRAPH MEDIA TO IMPROVE THE DESCRIPTION WRITING SKILL OF THE STUDENTS AT SMA NEGERI 2 KEBUMEN   Abstract This research is aimed to describe and to explain the improvement in the description writing skill of the tenth grade students at SMA N 2 Kebumen by using  approach process and photography media. This research is classroom action research or classroom action research. The design used in this research was action research design by Kemmis and Taggart. The subject of the research was X2 class students at SMA Negeri 2 Kebumen in the academic year of 2011/2012, consisted of 32 students. The data collection was done by using observation, field notes and description during the time of the learning activity and also tests (pre test and post test). The validity used was democratic validity because the researcher truthfully collaborated either with the teacher and the students, the research also used process validity, marked by accuracy in the research process and dialogic validity can be shown that the research was implemented by having dialogue with the teacher and the collaborator to seek for critics and suggestion. Reliability in this action research was based on contextual and situational and localized. The technique used to analyze the data in this action research was descriptive. The monitoring on the learning process shows that (1) the students can find ideas faster, (2) the students can make essay framework, (3) the students can develop essay framework, (4) the students can think systematically, (5) the students are more enthusiastic in attending the learning of writing essay, (6) the students understand the process of writing essay. This research was conducted based on the problems found from observation in the teaching and learning process. This research aimed to investigate how the use of storytelling technique through webtoon improved students' confidence in speaking to class X IPS 3 students of SMA Negeri 5 Pontianak Utara in academic year 2018/2019. The method implemented in this research was Classroom Action Research with two cycles. The subjects of the research were 32 students of class X IPS 3. In collecting the data, the writer used observation checklist table, field notes, and questionnaires. The result showed that students’ confidence in speaking improved by using storytelling technique through webtoon. Most of them are active in speaking English in the classroom. In conclusion, storytelling technique through webtoon was useful to help students to improve their confidence in speaking English. Thus, the writer recommends the teacher to use storytelling technique in teaching learning speaking to the student.This research was conducted based on the problems found from observation in the teaching and learning process. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran PPKn melalui penerapan model  Problem based learning di kelas VIII A semester 1 SMP Negeri 2 Manisrenggo Kabupaten Klaten tahun akademik 2014/2015. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research) dengan desain Kemmis & Taggart yang dilaksanakan dalam III siklus. Jenis tindakan yang dilaksanakan adalah penerapan model Problem based learning dalam pembelajaran PPKn.  Langkah-langkah pembelajaran meliputi mengidentifikasi masalah, menggali sumber informasi yang relevan, belajar secara mandiri, menyelidiki dan menginterpretasi data yang terkumpul, memilih beberapa alternatif solusi masalah, dengan mempertimbangkan pendapat atau informasi dari kolabolator. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, tes tertulis, wawancara, dan catatan lapangan. Analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan teknik yang dikembangkan Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan model Problem based learning dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran PPKn pada aspek proses pembelajaran dan hasil belajar yang komprehensif (kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik). THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE CIVIV EDUCATION LEARNING QUALITY THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF THE PROBLEM BASED–LEARNING  AT SMPAbstractThis study aimed to improve the Civic Education learning quality through the application of the problem- based learning model at Grade VIII A of SMP Negeri 2 Manisrenggo in semester 1 of the 2014/2015 academic year. This was a classroom action research (CAR) study employing the design by Kemmis & MacTaggart, carried out in three cycles. The action implemented was the application of the problembased learning model in the Civic Education learning. The learning steps included identifying problems, looking for relevant information sources, learning autonomously, investigating and interpreting the collected data, and selecting several alternative problem solutions by taking into account of opinions or information from the collaborator  The data were collected through observations, tests, interviews, and field notes. The data were qualitatively analyzed using the technique developed by Miles and Huberman. The results of the study showed that the application of the problem-based learning model was capable to improve the Civic Education learning quality in the aspects of the learning processes and outcomes which were comprehensive (comprising cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects).

Abstract This study is aim to identify improving student’s reading skill using jigsaw. Whether jigsawcan improving students ability in reading skill. The research method used in this research is Qualitative Method and Classroom Action Research as a design.The subject of this study were 32 students of the tenth gradesin one of SMK in Bandung Barat. There were seven encounters covered on those two periods; three encounters were for tests, and the other four encounters were for doing treatment. The treatment was teaching reading skill, especially in reading Narrative text, with the used of Jigaw method.The instruments used in this research were observation, interview, field notes and tests. The tests were used to test the students on pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2. The tests given subsisted of 10 items in the form of find out the structure of Narrative text and Comprehenison questions based on the text. This research aims at improving reading ability by using jigsaw method in understanding generic structure, language feature and kinds of narrative text. Through two periods, three tests and four treatments, the teaching and learning process is done and run very well in the year of one SMK in Bandung. As shown in the data above that the increase in score almost reaching KKM is 6.5 while the specified KKM is 7.0. Keywords:Reading, Jigsaw, classroom action research

The problem of classroom action research is the low learning outcomes of VC grade 164 students in Pekanbaru. This study aims to improve social studies learning outcomes of VC grade 164 students in Pekanbaru by applying the cooperative method of numbered heads together (NHT). The results of the research and class actions of the Social Studies Course conducted at the VC class SDN 164 Pekanbaru students concluded; Learning outcomes in the first cycle have increased compared to conventional learning. Pre-cycle learning outcomes are an average of 50.25 or sufficient categories; in cycle I, learning outcomes reached an average of 71.75 or in the Good category; in cycle II it increased again by 80.25 or in the Good category; Prasiklus classical completeness is 10 students (25.00%.); the first cycle is 27 students (67.50%); and in the second cycle were 38 students (95.00%). Students who have not been completed are remedial. Observers observed that VC grade 164 students at Pekanbaru Pekanbaru seemed to understand the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) Cooperative Method. They learn and understand shared material in heterogeneous groups of 4-5 students. Based on the results of improved learning studies, the application of the cooperative method of numbered heads together (NHT) succeeded in correcting the problem of the low social studies learning outcomes in VC Class SDN 164 Pekanbaru 2017/2018 Academic Year.
