ABSTRACT This article is written to describe the correlation of the apreciprocative reading skills with the writing skills of the short-text student class XI MAN 3 Padang. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive methods and correlational design. This research sample amounted to 49 people. This research data is in the form of scores of apreciprocative reading skills tests and scores of test-writing skills for short-story text. The data, obtained through two types of tests, is an objective test to measure the test of apresiative reading skills and test performance to measure the writing skills of short story text. Based on data analysis and discussion, the following three things are concluded. First, the skill of reading the appreciative of class XI MAN students 3 Padang is in good qualification (78.81). Secondly, the writing skills of the text of the student's class XI MAN 3 Padang is in good qualification (81.04). Thirdly, there is a significant connection between the apresiative reading skills with the writing skills of the short-text short story at a significantly 95% level with dk = n-1. Based on the results of the research and analysis of data, it was concluded that there is a significant link between the reading skills of the appreciative with the writing skills of the text students of Class XI MAN 3 Padang because thitung > ttabel is 3.12 > 1.67. In other words, to write short story text is required apresiative reading skill.Kata kunci: Korelasi, Membaca, Menulis, Teks Cerpen

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was categorized into three. First, to describe the reading skills in understanding the short story of the second-year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang. Second, to describe the writing skills of a short story for the second year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang. Third, to describe the contribution of reading short story comprehension into the writing skills of a short story made by the second year students of SMK Negeri 9 Padang. The design of this research was quantitative with a descriptive method. Then, this study also was a correlational design. The population of this study was the second - grade students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang in the academic year 2018/2019 for about 232 students. The sample of this study was taken by using a proportional random sampling technique (20%), which was 46 students. The data of this study were the results of reading skills tests for understanding short story texts and the results of the text writing short story texts. The instrument of this study was an objective test to measure reading skills in understanding short story texts and performance tests to measure short story texts writing skills. There were several results of this study. First, the writing skill of the short story text of the second-year students at SMK Negeri  Padang was more than adequate (LdC). Second, reading skills understanding the short text of the second-year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang was in a Good qualification (B). Third, reading skills understanding the short story of the second-year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang contributed 72.1% to the short story writing skills of the second year students of SMK Negeri 9 Padang.         Kata Kunci: Kontribusi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman Teks Cerpen, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Cerpen

KONTRIBUSI SIKAP BELAJAR DAN PENGUASAAN KOSAKATA TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MENULIS CERPEN SISWA KELAS IX SMP NEGERI 1 RAMBAH SAMO KABUPATEN ROKAN HULUAbstractThis research aims to describe (1) the contribution learning attitude toward short story writing skills; (2) the contribution vocabulary mastery toward short story writing skills and (3) the contribution learning attitude and vocabulary mastery toward short story writing skills student 9­­th grade at SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo, Rokan Hulu Regency.This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods and using correlational design. The study population was all 9th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo totaling 119 people. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test of Product Moment (PPM), a double correlation test, t-test, F-test, and determinant coefficient formula to determine the contribution of independent variables on the dependent variable, either single or simultaneous. Results of this study are as follows: (1) learning attitude make a significant contribution to short story writing skills; (2) vocabulary contributed significantly to short story writing skills; (3) learning attitude and vocabulary mastery together make a significant contribution to short story writing skills. Thus, it can be concluded that learning attitude and vocabulary mastery, either single or simultaneous provide a significant contribution to short story writing skills of student 9­­th grade at SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo, Rokan Hulu Regency. Keyword: learning attitude, vocabulary mastery, short story.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan (1) kontribusi sikap belajar  terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen; (2) kontribusi penguasaan kosakata terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen, dan (3) kontribusi sikap belajar dan penguasaan kosakata terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo Kabupaten Rokan Hulu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif dan menggunakan desain korelasional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo yang berjumlah 119 orang. Data penelitian ini berupa skor hasil sikap belajar, skor hasil penguasaan kosakata, dan skor hasil keterampilan menulis cerpen yang diubah ke dalam bentuk nilai. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment (PPM), uji korelasi ganda, uji t, uji F, dan rumus koefesien determinan untuk mengetahui besar kontribusi variabel bebas terhadap variabel terikat, baik secara sendiri-sendiri maupun secara bersama-sama. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) sikap belajar memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen;(2)penguasaan kosakata memberikankontribusi yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen;(3) sikap belajar dan penguasaan kosakata secarabersama-sama memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sikap belajar dan penguasaan kosakata, baik secara sendiri-sendiri maupun bersama-sama memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Samo Kabupaten Rokan Hulu. Kata kunci: sikap belajar, penguasaan kosakata, cerpen.

This research originated from the low skills of grade IV SDN (public school) 1 Sigli students in writing short stories. Learning media to write short stories is an alternative means of delivering material to students through animated film media. This study aims to determine the improvement of short story writing skills using animated film media in fourth grade students of SDN 1 Sigli. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in three cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this study were 24 students of grade IV SDN 1 Sigli, consisting of 12 female students and 12 male students. The data collection technique was done by using tests, observations, and field notes. The data analysis used was a comparative descriptive analysis technique. The results of data analysis showed that the acquisition of student learning outcomes with an average value in cycle I: 60%, cycle II: 80%, and cycle III: 91%. Thus it can be concluded, the use of animated film media can improve students' short story writing skills, and teachers always improve their skills in using instructional media. This can be seen from the cycles obtained by students in each cycle.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is three. First, describing the reading skills of anecdotal text students XI MA Negeri 3 Padang. Secondly, it describes the writing skills of anecdotal text students XI MA Negeri 3 Padang. Third, describing the contribution of reading skills of anecdotal text to the writing skills of anecdotal text students XI MA Negeri 3 Padang. This type of research is quantitative by a descriptive method. The design used in this study is design contributions. The population of this study is the XI MA Negeri 3 class students enrolled in the 2018/2019 school year, with 250 students. The samples in this study were determined by simple random sampling 25% of the population, which is 61 students. This research Data in the form of scores of test skills reads the understanding of anecdotal text and scores test results of anecdotal text. The Data is obtained through two types of tests i.e. objective tests to measure the reading skills of anecdotal text and test performance to measure anecdotal text writing skills. The results of this study were three. First, the reading skills of understanding anecdotal text students XI MA Negeri 3 Padang are in good qualification (B) with an average value of 85.09. Secondly, the writing skills of anecdote-class students XI MA Negeri 3 Padang are on a good qualifying (BS) with an average of 86.13. Thirdly, there is a contribution of the reading skills of anecdotal text to the writing skills of anecdotal text students XI MA Negeri 3 Padang amounted to 17.56%. Kata Kunci:Kontribusi, Keterampilan, Membaca Pemahaman, Menulis, Teks Anekdot

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is three. First, describing reading skills understanding the text description of class VII students of SMP Negeri 33 Padang. Second, describe the writing skills of description text for class VII students of SMP Negeri 33 Padang. Third, describe the correlation of reading text description understanding with writing text description skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 33 Padang. The population of this study was seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 33 Padang who were registered in the 2018/2019 school year with 192 students. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling of 25% of the population, which is 48 students. Based on data analysis and discussion, three research results are obtained as follows. First, reading skills understanding the text description of class VII students of SMP Negeri 33 Padang in good qualifications. This can be seen from the acquisition of a calculated average of 81.35. Second, the writing text description skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 33 Padang are in good qualification. This can be seen from the acquisition of a calculated average of 77.15. Third, there is a significant correlation between reading skills in the description of text description and writing text description skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 33 Padang in the n-1 freedom degree and 95% significant level. H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted because the test results prove that the tcount is greater than t table, namely (4.51> 1.68). Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Deskripsi

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is as follows. First, describe the critical reading skills of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan. Second, it describes the writing skills text exposition of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan. Thirdly, analysing the contribution of the reading skills of critical writing skills text exposition of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan. Type of this research is a descriptive method quantitative research. The design of research i.e. research korelasional. This research population is grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan 2018/2019 school year with a total of 50 people scattered in two classes. A sample of these studies amounted to 50 people. Sampling techniques in the study are the total sampling. Variables this research is critical reading skills as free variables (X) and writing skills text exposition as a variable (Y). The instruments used in this research is an objective test for critical reading skills and test performance for writing skills text Exposition. The results of the research there are three, as follows. First, critical reading skills of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan qualified enough, with an average value of 57.08 is under the KKM (75). Second, the skills of writing a text exposition of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan qualified enough, with an average value of 59.67 is under the KKM (75). Third, there is a positive and significant contribution between critical reading skills with writing skills text exposition of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan at significant level 95% and the degrees of freedom (dk) = n-1 because thitung > ttabel IE 3.03 > 1.68.  Based on the results of this study it was concluded that there is a linear relationship between critical reading skills with writing skills text exposition of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan with a confidence level of 95%. In other words, if the student's critical reading skills are good, then the exposition text writing skills students are also good. In contrast, when bad Exposition text skills, then writing skills students also bad Exposition text. Kata Kunci: Kontribusi, Membaca Kritis, Menulis Teks Eksposisi

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is three. First, describing reading skills understanding text of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 32 Padang. Second, describing the exposition for writing the text skills of Grade VIII students in Padang Middle School 32 Third, describing the correlation of reading skills in the text comprehension and the exposition for writing text skills for grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 32 Padang. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive method. The design used is correlational design. The study population was grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 32 Padang who were enrolled in the 2018/2019 school year, which was 196 students. The study sample was determined by proportional random sampling of 25% of the population, namely 49 students. The research data is in the form of a reading skill test score understanding and the score of the exsposition for writing the text exsposition. There are two instruments for this research, namely objective tests to measure reading skills, comprehension  and performance tests to measure the exsposition for writing text skills. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that there was a significant correlation between reading skills, text comprehension, and exsposition writing skills in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 32 Padang. at the real level (α) of 95% with n-1 freedom degrees in other words if the reading skills of students 'exsposition text comprehension are good, then students' writing skills are also good. Conversely, if the reading skills of students 'exsposition text comprehension are bad then the students' writing exsposition text skills are also bad. Kata Kunci: Membaca Pemahaman, Keterampilan Menulis Teks, Eksposisi

The research aims to improve the learning process and short story writing skills using pop-up media in 4th grade students of elementary school Muhammadiyah Sidokarto. Type of research class action model Kemmis and Mc Taggart. Subjects class 4th students totaling 20 students. Method of data collection research uses the method of testing, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used quantitative and qualitative. The results of the study indicate that pop up media can improve short story writing skills. The process of improving learning to write short stories using pop-up media is students learn the material of short story elements, linguistic material, how to compile short story based on pop-up media, and write short stories using pop-up media. Improvement of short story writing skills first cycle 19.7 from the precycle average value of 59.9 to 79.6. The increase in short story writing skills the second cycle 25.85 from the pre-cycle average value to 85.75. Penelitian bertujuan untuk meningkatkan proses pembelajaran dan keterampilan menulis cerita pendek menggunakan media pembelajaran pop-up siswa kelas IV SD Muhammadiyah Sidokarto. Jenis penelitian merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV berjumlah 20 siswa. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian menggunakan metode tes, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu teknik kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran pop-up dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis cerita pendek. Proses peningkatan pembelajaran menulis cerita pendek menggunakan media pembelajaran pop-up dengan cara siswa mempelajari materi unsur-unsur cerita pendek, materi kebahasaan, cara menyusun kerangka cerita pendek berdasarkan media pembelajaran pop-up, danmenulis cerita pendek menggunakan media pembelajaran pop-up. Peningkatan keterampilan menulis cerita pendek pada siklus I sebesar 19,7 dari nilai rata-rata prasiklus sebesar 59,9 menjadi 79,6. Peningkatan keterampilan menulis cerita pendek pada siklus II sebesar 25,85 dari nilai rata-rata prasiklus menjadi 85,75.

This study aims, (1) to analyze and describe student responses through the determination of themes and characterizations in the Asa and Forest Kalimantan short stories. Secondly, analyzing and describing environmental phenomena in the short story through student responses according to Garrard's concept. The theory used in this study is Greg Garrard's (2004) ecocritical theory. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The population is 247 students. The samples were 28 students. Sampling is done by a purposive method. Research data sources, namely (1) short stories are downloaded via the web https://www.scribd.com, (2) questionnaires containing student responses. The research data is the students' responses according to the questionnaire given. Data collection is done through a questionnaire, read, and note down techniques. The validity of the data is done through the triangulation of theories and sources. Data analysis is carried out in stages: (a) reduction; (b) presentation; (c) the conclusion; and (d) verification of results. The results of this study indicate (1) Themes and characterizations. The theme of the Asa and Forest Kalimantan short stories is the theme of protection/preservation of the forest, the theme of animal hunting, and varied themes. Characterization, which is played by Asa figures who have never done damage to the forests of Kalimantan and Asa figures use nature as needed. In other words, the character of Asa has the character of ‘protect’ and is not greedy to nature; (2) environmental phenomena discovered through student responses are animal phenomena, namely natural destruction due to the hunting of Bornean Orang Utans.

ABSTRACT There are three aims of this study. First, describe the skills of reading comprehention of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. Second, describe the writing skills of the report observation text of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. Third, describe the correlation of reading comprehention with the writing skills of the report observation text of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. The  type of this research is quantitative in terms of descriptive methods. The design used in this study is correlational design. The population of this study was the seventh grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang which was registered in the 2018/2019 school year, it was 192 students. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling of 20% of the population, namely 36 students. The research data is in the form of scores on the skills test results of reading comprehention and scores on the results of the test writing skills of the report observation text. The instrument of this study is an objective test to measure reading comprehention skills and performance tests to measure report observation text writing skills. The results of this study are three. First, the skills to write report observation texts of  VII grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang is in accordance with the Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 82,99. Second, the skill of reading comprehention of VII grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang in accordance with Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 81,42. Third, there is a significant correlation betwen reading comprehention skills and report observation text writing skills of VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang on n-1 freedom degrees and 95% significant level. H0 is reject and H1is accepted because the tcount is greater than ttable (13,59 > 2,68).  Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Laporan Hasil Observasi.
