This study aims to describe and analyze the motion structure of  Tampuruang dance in Batu Manjulua village, Kupitan district, Sijunjung regency, West Sumatra province.This  research belongs to a qualitative research. The types of data used were primary and secondary data. The main instrument in this research was the researcher itself and was assisted by supporting instruments such as writing tools, cameras, and flash drives. The data were collected through literature study, observation, interview, and documentation. The steps of analyzing the data was collecting the data, describing the data, and concluding the data.The results show that 1) related to the relationship system of basic elements, Tampuruang Dance has motions of body parts consisting of the head, body, hands, and feet. From the relationship system between the elements above, it produces the form of motives which are alternate and interrelated like a chain, 2) Related to the hierarchical grammatical relationship system, Tampuruang Dance consists of 42 motifs, 8 phrases, 5 sentences, and 1 cluster, 3) Tampuruang dance belongs to a syntagmatic relationship system which is like a chain, and it cannot be separated or exchanged between one another.Key words: Motion Structure, Tampuruang Dance, Batu Manjulua Village

This study aims to describe and analyze the structure of the dance movement of Lurah Kincia dance in Situjuah Batua village, Situjuah Limo Nagari district, 50 Kota regency. This study belongs to a qualitative research using analytical descriptive method. The data used in this study were primary and secondary data. The main instrument used was the researcher itself and was assisted by supporting instruments such as writing instruments, cameras, and flash drives. The data were collected through literature study, observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted by collecting the data, describing the data, analyzing the data, and making conclusions. The results showthat the movement structure of Lurah Kincia dance has basic elements related to the attitude and movement of the body parts starting from the head, body, hands, and feet. From the relationship system between those elements, it produces motive forms in the form of turn taking, and are related to each other like a chain.The hierarchical grammatical relationship system contained in Lurah Kincia Dance consists of 37 motifs, 6 phrases, 4 sentences, and 1 cluster. Lurah Kincia dance belongs to a syntagmatic relationship system. This study aims to reveal and describe the Choreography of Ratok Maik Katurun Dance in Padang Laweh Village, Koto VII District, Sijunjung Regency. Therefore, this study explores the problems related to the choreography contained in the Ratok Maik Katurun dance in Padang Laweh Village, Koto VII District, Sijunjung Regency. This research belongs to a qualitative research using descriptive methods. The main instrument of this research was the researcher itself and was assisted by supporting instruments such as writing tools and voice recorders. Types of data used were primary and secondary data. The data were collected through literature study, observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion making. The results show that Ratok Maik Katurun Dance is a traditional dance which uses a choreographic approach and is created by raising the life of nature and the people of Padang Laweh village. Ratok Maik Katurun dance has a unique cultural value. It is dancing at the death of a leader in Padang Laweh village. Ratok Maik Katurun dance has two main aspects. The first one is the aspect of form including: motion (10 types of motion); simple floor designs such as straight and curved lines, top designs such as angular, medium, low, high, contrast and curved designs; group composition such as synchronously and balanced;female dancers aged 30-50 years; music using gondang boghek, talempong, and gong instruments; costumes worn is black baju kuruang basibah (Malay traditional clothes) and black songket (skirt); and properties in the form of shawls which are only worn in the oghak salendang movement. The second one is the aspect of content including: The idea, in Ratok Maik Katurun dance the idea isrelated to death and the atmosphere whichis sad. Music and dendang ratok used as accompaniment of the dance movements make the dance conveyed and complemented. Thus, it can be concluded that Ratok Maik Katurun Dance has choreographic aspects so that it can be researched using choreography knowledge.Keywords: Choreography, Ratok Maik Katurun Dance

                                                                        Abstrak Budaya memainkan peran yang sangat penting dalam politik karena menjadi cerminan masyarakat dalam menentukan sikap dan pilihan politik atau membentuk karakteristik masyarakat dalam berpolitik. Contoh dari hubungan antara budaya dan politik bisa tergambarkan pada isu kekerabatan  pada pilkada Manggarai Barat 2020 yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini. Fenomena kekerabatan yang dimaksud adalah adanya kecenderungan dari masyarakat Manggarai Barat pada umumnya untuk memilih pemimpin yang seasal atau karena faktor kekerabatan dan kekeluargaan atau dikenal sebagai budaya lonto leok yang masih kuat mempengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat termasuk politik. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma interpretif dengan metode penelitian Fenomenologi. Adapun pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan dengan data primer yaitu melakukan wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi serta data sekunder berupa studi kepustakaan. Wawancara dilakukan kepada para informan yang melakukan lonto leok menjelang Pilkada Mabar Tahun 2020 dan juga pada pilkada-pilkada sebelumnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa makna kekerabatan dalam budaya lonto leok pada proses pilkada di Manggarai Barat adalah kebersamaan dan ketergantungan. Sementara peran budaya lonto leok dalam proses politik adalah pada saat pengambilan keputusan dan menumbuhkan ikatan kekerabatan.   Kata kunci: Budaya, Politik, Kekerabatan, Lonto Leok, fenomenologi, makna kekerabatan                                                                   Abstract   Culture plays a very important role in politics because it reflects the everyday life of society in determining political attitudes and choices or shaping the characteristics of society in politics. One of them many examples about the relationship between culture and politics can be illustrated in the issue of kinship in the 2020 West Manggarai regional election discussed in this study. The kinship phenomenon in question is the tendency of the West Manggarai community in general to choose leaders who are in the same kinship and it is known as the lonto leok culture which still strongly influences people's life, including politics. This study uses an interpretive paradigm with phenomenological research methods. The research data collection was carried out with primary data, namely conducting in-depth interviews and documentation and secondary data in the form of literature study. Interviews were conducted with informants who conducted lonto leok ahead of the 2020 Mabar Pilkada and also in the previous pilkada. The results showed that the meaning of kinship in the lonto leok culture in the election process in West Manggarai was togetherness and dependence. Meanwhile, the role of lonto leok culture in the political process is at the time of making decisions and fostering kinship ties.   Keywords: Culture, Politics, Kinship, Lonto Leok, phenomenology, meaning of kinship

This study aims to reveal the procedures for presenting Persembahan Bungo dance in a guest welcoming event in Bungo Regency, Jambi Province. This is a qualitative research resulting descriptive analysis data. The main instrument in this study was the researcher itself and was assisted by supporting instruments such as writing instruments and cameras. The data used were primary and secondary data. The data were collected through literature study, observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted bycollecting the data, reducing the data, presenting the data, and making conclusion. The results show that Persembahan Bungo dance has parts and sequences in each presentation. They are preparation before performing, initial stage, during the performance, and the end of the performance.Persembahan Bungo dance has 9 movements: Sembah Penghormatan, gerak selamat datang, sembah paduko, lenggang, putri malu, berinai, limbai, zapin bungo, and mambuko pagar ayu. The rules for performing Persembahan Bungo dance are compiled by custom or according to the customary rules in Bungo Regency, are in accordance with the motto of Bungo Regency, and pay attention to the values in a reception. For example, in the rule of washing betel, the betel must be washed first by the queen. This symbolizes cleanliness, purity, and respect for the welcomed guests by people of Bungo regency.Keywords: presentation, bungo dance, guest welcome

This is a qualitative research with a descriptive analysis method. The main instrument in this study was the researcher itself and was assisted by supporting instruments such as writing instruments and cameras. The data used were primary and secondary data. The data was collected through literature study, observation, documentation, and interview. The data analysis was conducted by reducing the data, modeling the data (data display), and taking / verifying conclusions. The results show that 1) extracurricular dance planning can be conducted well as expected, the material selection is in accordance with students’ needs and abilities, and the schedule selection has been determined by the principal and is always consistent in its implementation, 2) the implementation techniques taught to students give optimal quality such as doing varied warm-ups, teaching difficult to easy movements, and emphasizing parts of the motion by using words such as 1-2-Hentak-Turak, 5-6-Sorong-Turak, 3) students' abilities which looks very good consist of several parts, namely motion, rhythm, and expression. In terms of doing movements, the students are always consistent (there is no change). In terms of rhythm, the students are always good at doing movements because the trainer always provides varied counts and consistently provides rhythms with sound or music during warming up. In terms of expression, students are also spontaneous in doing movements and giving off a beautiful smile. This is due to the fact that the trainer always explains the meaning of motion in every movement the students do.Keywords: Tanun dance Training

This research aims to reveal and discuss the Meaning of Pegawai Dance in a Marriage Party in the Kampung Hulu Pasa Malintang, Nagari Inderapura Tengah, Pancung Soal, Pesisir Selatan District. This research is a qualitative research using analytical descriptive method. The Main Instrument was the researcher itself with primary and secondary data types. The data collection techniques were literature review, observation, interview and documentation. The object of research was the Pegawai Dance in KampungHuluPasaMalintang, Nagari Inderapura Tengah, Pancung Soal, Pesisir Selatan District. The results of this study indicate that the meaning of Pegawai Dance in a marriage party in the village of Kampung Hulu Pasa Malintang Nagari Inderapura Tengah can be analyzed from three aspects: (1) Bride and groom who stand at the aisle, in their own positions, holding a shawl that forms a swing. The shawl is tied in both thumbs of the bride and the groom. This means that both are ready to tie the relationship as a husband and wife and hope to get a good offspring.(2) Dancers who move (a) LangkahPanjang (long steps)means to see the bride and groom's descendants. (b) SeroangKanan (a right turn)means to seethe swingto keep it not to tilt so the bride is more careful and maintains domestic relations. (c)Seroang Kiri (a left turn) has the same meaning as the right one.(d) Ninjau (a review) meansto keep the position of the swing to be always in the middle so that the bride and groom work together and help each otherin difficulties and happiness as well as complement each other. (3) From the music lyric, it contains parents' prayers for their children so they can live a good marriage life and are blessed by God. Generally, the performance of the Pegawai Dance at a wedding can be seen as a manifestation of life values about responsibility and cooperation in carrying out the household ark, including giving a gala (a title) to the groom to equalize his status with the bride's so that he is respected by the bride familyKeywords: meaning, dance officer, wedding party

The background of this research is the loss of one of arts in Korong Koto Tinggi, namely Silek Sunua. This research aims to revitalize Silek Sunua in Korong Koto Tinggi community, Gunuang Padang Alai village, Padang Pariaman regency. The method used was descriptive analysis with a qualitative form. The types of data in this study were primary and secondary data. The main instrument was the researcher itself. The data were collected through literature study, observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted by using interpretation technique so that the truth can be obtained. The results of this study are efforts made to revitalize Silek Sunua. The efforts area ctivity excavation and re-activation as well as organization and socializat ionstructuring in Korong Koto Tinggi. Activity excavation and re-activation are done by holding back the Silek Sunua training and having organizational structuring torearrange the structure of the organization. This research aims to reveal and describe "The preservation of Piriang Rantak Tapi dance in Pitalah village, Batipuh District, Tanah Datar Regency". This research belongs to a qualitative research using descriptive method. The main instrument in this study was the researcher itself and was assisted by supporting instruments such as writing tools and cameras. The data were collected through literature study, observation, interview, and documentation. The steps of analyzing data were collecting the data, describing the data, and concluding the data. The results show that the effort to preserve the Piriang Rantak Tapi dance isby collaborating with the Tuo Tari and the community in Pitalah village, Batipuh district. With the training of Piriang Rantak Tapi dance, the number of performers has increased from 1 to 8 people in the dance, so that currently the RantakTapipiriang dance has had the next generation to maintain the existence of the dance. This has a positive impact and can be accepted by the community because there are many dance performers around the community. The impact learned in the PiriangRantak dance is that those who previously did not understand dance, but then they can dance a dance taught, namely Piriang Rantak Tapi Dance.Keywords: Preservation, Rantak Piriang Dance, Kenagarian Pitalah

This study aims to find out the ability of students at class VIII.1 in Padang city in playing Talempong Pacik with the song Cak Din Din. This research belongs to a descriptive qualitative research. The main instrument on this study was the researcher itself and was supported by supporting instruments such as writing tools and cameras. The data were collected through interview, literature study, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted by classifying the data, describing the data, and making conclusions. The results show that the students’ ability in playing Talempong Pacik with the song Cak Din Din is quite good after the learning process was evaluated. The assessment was obtained from the value of daily test results with assessment indicators including tempo and rhythmic accuracy as well as the students’ sense of musicality. The learning process was carried out in four meetings. In the fourth meeting, the learning evaluation was conducted. The learning activities were divided into three stages: preparation, process or training, and evaluation. The introduction of the song Cak Din Din was done by showing the song’s score and giving demonstrations by the teachers.Keywords: Talempong, Learning, cak din din

The research aims to reveal, describe, and analyze the development of Marcok Dance at Ilok Rupo Art Studio, Sungai Penuh City. This research belongs to a qualitative research using a descriptive analysis method. The types of data in this study were primary and secondary data. The main instrument was the researcher itself, and it was assisted by supporting instruments such as writing tools and cameras. The data were collected through literature, observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis was done through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions drawing. The results show that the traditional Marcok Dance had developed into a creation Marcok Dance. This development can be seen from the management of movements, dancers, floor patterns, accompaniment music, clothing, time performance, and place of performance. In motion, there are 2 new motion additions. Related to the floor pattern, there is a reduction from 26 to 14 creation Marcok dance floor patterns.  Costumes have developed in terms of accessories used. In addition, there is an additional musical instrument called gong. The development process of Marcok Dance at the Ilok Rupo Art Studio, Sungai Penuh City is supported because of the desire of Ilok Rupo Art Studio to keep the traditional Marcok Dance by develop it so it is attractive for the community to use. Moreover it is useful as a forum for young people to learn how to maintain cultural heritage, and it becomes an identity in the local area.Keywords: Development, Marcok Dance, Ilok Rupo Art Gallery
