Intersectional research on childhood suicidality requires studies with a reliable and valid measure of suicidality, as well as a large sample size that shows some variability of suicidality across sex by race intersectional groups. Objectives: We aimed to investigate the feasibility of intersectionality research on childhood suicidality in the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study. We specifically explored the reliability and validity of the measure, sample size, and variability of suicidality across sex by race intersectional groups. Methods: We used cross-sectional data (wave 1) from the ABCD study, which sampled 9013 non-Hispanic white (NHW) or non-Hispanic black (NHB) children between the ages of 9 and 10 between years 2016 and 2018. Four intersectional groups were built based on race and sex: NHW males (n = 3554), NHW females (n = 3158), NHB males (n = 1164), and NHB females (n = 1137). Outcome measure was the count of suicidality symptoms, reflecting all positive history and symptoms of suicidal ideas, plans, and attempts. To validate our measure, we tested the correlation between our suicidality measure and depression and Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) sub-scores. Cronbach alpha was calculated for reliability across each intersectional group. We also compared groups for suicidality. Results: We observed some suicidality history in observed 3.2% (n = 101) of NHW females, 4.9% (n = 175) of NHW males, 5.4% (n = 61) of NHB females, and 5.8% (n = 68) of NHB males. Our measure’s reliability was acceptable in all race by sex groups (Cronbach alpha higher than .70+ in all intersectional groups). Our measure was valid in all intersectional groups, documented by a positive correlation with depression and CBCL sub-scores. We could successfully model suicidality across sex by race groups, using multivariable models. Conclusion: Given the high sample size, reliability, and validity of the suicidality measure, variability of suicidality, it is feasible to investigate correlates of suicidality across race by sex intersections in the ABCD study. We also found evidence of higher suicidality in NHB than NHW children in the ABCD study. The ABCD rich data in domains of social context, self-report, schools, parenting, psychopathology, personality, and brain imaging provides a unique opportunity to study intersectional differences in neural circuits associated with youth suicidality.

BACKGROUND The Naranjo criteria are frequently used for determination of causality for suspected adverse drug reactions (ADRs); however, the psychometric properties have not been studied in the critically ill. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Naranjo criteria for ADR determination in the intensive care unit (ICU). METHODS All patients admitted to a surgical ICU during a 3-month period were enrolled. Four raters independently reviewed 142 suspected ADRs using the Naranjo criteria (review 1). Raters evaluated the 142 suspected ADRs 3–4 weeks later, again using the Naranjo criteria (review 2). Inter-rater reliability was tested using the kappa statistic. The weighted kappa statistic was calculated between reviews 1 and 2 for the intra-rater reliability of each rater. Cronbach alpha was computed to assess the inter-item consistency correlation. The Naranjo criteria were compared with expert opinion for criterion validity for each rater and reported as a Spearman rank (rs) coefficient. RESULTS The kappa statistic ranged from 0.14 to 0.33, reflecting poor inter-rater agreement. The weighted kappa within raters was 0.5402–0.9371. The Cronbach alpha ranged from 0.443 to 0.660, which is considered moderate to good. The rs coefficient range was 0.385–0.545; all rs coefficients were statistically significant (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Inter-rater reliability is marginal; however, within-rater evaluation appears to be consistent. The inter-item correlation is expected to be higher since all questions pertain to ADRs. Overall, the Naranjo criteria need modification for use in the ICU to improve reliability, validity, and clinical usefulness.

Materials and methods: This methodologically planned study was conducted with 128 Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who met the sampling criteria. Data collected using a personal information form to identify individuals diagnosed with diabetes and CH-ASIQ, which assessed their attitudes towards diabetes, and the form Insulin Therapy Attitude Scale parallel as a parallel form. For the statistical analysis of the data, Construct Validity, Exploratory Factor Analysis, and Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Pearson, Gutmann, Split Half, Spearman, Cronbach Alpha coefficient methods were used. Results: It was statistically significant; it is seen that 14.1% of the participants were in the 41-50 age range, 37.5% were in the 51-60 age range, and 48.8% were 61 and over. According to Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test, the result was found to be 0.626. According to the results of factor analysis, 4 factors have emerged which have Eigenvalues above 1 and explain 69.48% of the total variance. According to Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Structural Equation Modeling Results of the scale were found to be p=0.000. According to Cronbach Alpha result 0.756. Conclusion: There was a relationship between attitudes to having information about the treatment of diabetics and attitude, and there was the relationship between them. Effects of fear, pain on these findings were observed. The importance of education for a positive attitude was determined. The importance of patients' attitudes towards insulin therapy should be emphasized for adaptation to the disease.

OBJECTIVES: To assess the reliability and validity of the Brazilian version of the Attentional Function Index. METHOD: Methodological study. The sample was made up of 138 students from an undergraduate nursing course. The psychometric properties were assessed through the convergent construct validity, using the Brazilian version of the Attentional Function Index and the Portuguese-language version of the Profile of Mood States instrument, while the reliability was measured by its internal consistency, expressed by the Cronbach Alpha Coefficient. RESULTS: The Cronbach Alpha Coefficient was 0.86 for the total score, and varied from 0.64 to 0.86 in the three subscales. A strong significant negative correlation (r=-0.64; p<0.0001) was obtained for the convergent validity. CONCLUSION: The Brazilian version of the Attentional Function Index resulted in satisfactory levels of validity and reliability, demonstrating its viability for use in practice and in undertaking further research.

The Children's Attitudes toward the Environment Scale, developed by Musser and Malkus (1994), gave Cronbach a .73 and .83 at pretest and 3-wk. later for 274 children and a test-retest r of only .47. While Cronbach alpha was similar to the value reported by the test developers, it is close to the low end of acceptability.

Sarason's Test Anxiety Scale, translated into an Ethiopian language, was administered to 391 students in Grade 8 and to 422 students in preparatory school (Grades 11 and 12). In the first sample, 32 items loaded above the 0.3 criterion of acceptable item-remainder correlations and Cronbach alpha of .84. In the second sample, Cronbach alpha was .84 for the 34 items, but only 19 items had acceptable item-remainder correlations. The internal consistency reliabilities were comparable with those reported in the literature. However, the results of confirmatory factor analyses with extraction of four factors did not confirm the item loadings on factors as reported in the literature. Younger students (Grade 8) were found to have higher mean Test Anxiety than Grades 11 and 12 students. The Amharik version of the Test Anxiety Scale as a whole could be considered reliable and useful for Ethiopian students.

The study aims to explore the degree of awareness of Jordanian education college students to terrorism's definition, type and causes, and the universities' roles in addressing terrorism. A five- scale questionnaire was designed by the author and administrated to 130 students studying at the faculty of education, Al-al Bayt University. The external reliability coefficient for the total questionnaire domains was 0.84, and the internal reliability coefficient (Cronbach Alpha) for the total questionnaire domains was 0.88. This indicates that the questionnaire was reliable and suitable for a sample administration. The results indicated that students were aware of the concept and types of terrorism, but they have a misconception of its main causes. These, however, were relevant from the perspectives of economical and social causes. Students' misconception can be interpreted by students' social alienation, and their refusal based on economic and social circumstances. The author suggested that universities must hold intense rehabilitating programs for the youths. This is in addition to holding international conferences on human security as it could raise students' awareness of terrorism and help them in addressing it eventually.
