The article is devoted to the philosophical study of personal life as a process of constant formation, development and improvement of the personality during which its qualities, properties and functions related to the physical, social and spiritual aspects have been formed. The emphasis has been made on the differences in the interpretation of the characteristics of personal life and its dynamics in various socially-cultural and historical contexts — from antiquity to the present. Such aspects of personality formation in the space of society and culture as personal self-awareness, freedom and creativity have been analyzed. It has been concluded that personality is a sociocultural construct the development of which is determined by both biological and sociocultural factors.

Abstract On the basis of the author’s earlier works, the article proposes a new approach to creating an artificial intellect system in a model of a human being that is presented as the unification of an intellectual agent and a humanoid robot (ARb). In accordance with the proposed new approach, the development of an artificial intellect is achieved by teaching a natural language to an ARb, and by its utilization for communication with ARbs and humans, as well as for reflections. A method is proposed for the implementation of the approach. Within the framework of that method, a human model is “brought up” like a child, in a collective of automatons and children, whereupon an ARb must master a natural language and reflection, and possess self-awareness. Agent robots (ARbs) propagate and their population evolves; that is ARbs develop cognitively from generation to generation. ARbs must perform the tasks they were given, such as computing, whereupon they are then assigned time for “private life” for improving their education as well as for searching for partners for propagation. After having received an education, every agent robot may be viewed as a “person” who is capable of activities that contain elements of creativity. The development of ARbs thanks to the evolution of their population, education, and personal “life” experience, including “work” experience, which is mastered in a collective of humans and automatons.

The basic mechanisms of self-development are revealed: self-understanding, self-awareness, self-determination, self-government, self-improvement and self-realization. It is noted that they are all interconnected and interact with each other, their consistent implementation forms a kind of algorithm for moving to higher forms of self-improvement. The characteristic is given to the principles under which the social and cultural conditions for students’ self-development will be most vividly realized (subjectivity, motivational orientation of self-development, effectiveness of cultural activity, facilitation, focus, coherence, consistency and continuity in the content of the educational process, the connection of upbringing with life, the democracy of the upbringing system, interactivity, individualization, differentiation and tolerance of the education system, integrity and structure, variability and competitiveness of the activity of self-developing personality). Purpose – Three recent publications by noted authors offer valuable insights into the new directions that leadership development thinking and practice now need to take, with all of three books placing particular emphasis on the importance of character, identity and values, not just competence. Design/methodology/approach – Organizational psychologist Fred Kiel’s book, Return On Character sets out to show that the strength of a leader’s character is an important driver of business success and to examine the implications for leadership development. Discover Your True North by Harvard professor and former CEO of Medtronic Bill George examines why the self-development process of discovering one’s core values and passion (authenticity) to lead is essential to becoming an engaging and empowering leader. The theme of leadership as a life-long developmental challenge is Robert Kaplan’s primary focus in What You Really Need to Lead. Findings – Kiel’s data revealed a clear relationship between the strength of a leader’s character and demonstrated mastery of these key skills, with virtuosos “consistently” outperforming their more self-focused peers. Originality/value – One of the reasons that character matters is that leaders who more consciously and persistently search for greater self-awareness over the course of their careers tend to become ever more capable of questioning “not only the ideas of others” but even their “own most cherished beliefs,” and as a result, their understanding of their life, their business, their marketplace, and the global forces that shape them “enters a state of continual growth and development.”

The article is focused on the content and aesthetic potential of Belorussian literature, which still remains not widely known not for a foreign (including Russian) only, but native reader as well. It is shown that during its development from progressive beginning at the turn of XIX-XX centuries (Y. Kupala, Y. Kolos, M. Bogdanovich, etc.) to the postSoviet period (late “Sixtiers” 1960s, V. Bykov, A. Adamovich, S. Alexievich, V. Neklyaev and their young followers O. Bakharevich, Z. Vishnev, V. Martinovich), problematic array still focused on “marginal” point of view is showing stability. Interest in the problem is related to following historical, sociocultural factors that predetermined the peculiarity of the Belarusian cultural space as unstable national self-identity, geopolitical location at the multicultural cross-road of two major cultural influences of Europe and Russia. By the example of two texts: “Antinovel” by Zmitr Vishnev “If you look closely – Mars is blue” and “Dogs of Europe” by Olgerd Bakharevich (the second one was translated to Russian and granted the “Grand book" award, the reactualization of the “marginal” worldview in the modern Belarusian literature was presented, which actuality for Russian literature from Dostoyevsky to “other prose” late XX, comprehends the image of Russian-Belorussian literature references, caused by “existential type of artistic consciousness” common to a number of authors (V. Zamanskaya).

Introduction: Self-determination theory plays a crucial role in self-awareness forming. It suggests that people are motivated to grow and change as well as to be able to become self-determined by three universal psychological needs: for fulfillment of competence, connection, and autonomy. The article examines the main criteria and indicators of self-determination. Socio-pedagogical conditions are pro-posed which provide the effectiveness of the process of forming social self-determination among students. Materials and methods: the methodological basis is the ideas of personal and pro-fessional development as the basis the foundation of achieving a professional “acme” in the works of such scientists as A.S. Anisimov, A.A. Bodalev, A.A. Derkach, V.G. Zazykin, A.K. Markova, N.V. Kuzmina and others. Scientists focused on interdiscipli-nary connections and integration approaches in the study of the problems of personality self-determination. Results: recommendations are given for the design of activating methods of self-determination. The research hypothesis is based on the assumption that the for-mation of self-determination in the educational process of the university will be effective if proposed conditions are realized: providing the interconnection of formation processes and person’s self-development; inclusion of students in a variety of activities in order to acquire social experience and a system of social roles for further self-development; trainings for motivational growth and classes aimed at developing skills of self-organization and self-regulation in stressful situations. Discussion and Conclusions: according to these conclusions, a set of recommenda-tions were developed: external and internal factors of social self-determination should be considered in the system, with its inherent connection with the environ-ment, since changes in the social environment entail changes in the system of factors; in order to study personal properties, develop mutual understanding and determine ways of development and correction, one should use high-quality psychodiagnostic techniques, trainings for motivational growth, aimed at developing skills of self-organization and self-regulation in stressful situations; it is necessary to ensure the activity of students in a variety of activities.

A correlational study was conducted among attendees of three music festivals in Poland ( N = 828). The main goal was to examine how functions ascribed to music are related to (a) a feeling of being united with other attendees, (b) the perception of being independent from or (c) interdependent with other attendees, and (d) a feeling of self-growth resulting in self-expansion. Using structural equation modelling, we showed the following. First, people who feel stronger connections and experience more personal relationships with other attendees report a stronger feeling of self-growth during music festivals and ascribe more importance to the social functions of music. Second, a strong, direct relationship exists between independent self-construal (i.e., an individualistic view of the self as autonomous from other people) and the self-awareness function of music as well as between interdependent self-construal (i.e., a more collectivistic view of the self as embedded in the group and community) and the social function of music. Finally, the results of the mediation analysis of self-expansion for the relationships between different aspects of self and the functions of music indicated that self-expansion is a statistically significant partial mediator of these relationships for the social and self-awareness function of music but not for the emotional function. That is, participants, who experienced changes in self-construct related to self-growth and self-development from their participation in a music festival used music to facilitate self-awareness and social relatedness.

The article analyzes the digital footprint as a phenomenon of the emerging digital space and digital society. The purpose of the article is to study the digital footprint as a multi-layered phenomenon with multi-faceted features that manifest themselves in various spheres of life of an individual and society. The author considers three layers that characterize the digital footprint from the standpoint of its impact on the sociocultural component of society, the specifics of its formation, and its impact on the development and existence of the individual in the modern transformational era. The study highlights the positive (related to the possibilities of realizing personal potential) and negative (suggesting a distortion of the socio-cultural space) aspects of the functioning of the digital footprint. Conclusions are made about the need for a philosophical study of the phenomenon of the digital footprint in connection with its increasing importance in the formation of a new volume layer of socio-cultural space that creates qualitatively different forms of social existence.
