Tactic learning in virtual reality (VR) has been proven to be effective for basketball training. Endowed with the ability of generating virtual defenders in real time according to the movement of virtual offenders controlled by the user, a VR basketball training system can bring more immersive and realistic experiences for the trainee. In this article, an autoregressive generative model for instantly producing basketball defensive trajectory is introduced. We further focus on the issue of preserving the diversity of the generated trajectories. A differentiable sampling mechanism is adopted to learn the continuous Gaussian distribution of player position. Moreover, several heuristic loss functions based on the domain knowledge of basketball are designed to make the generated trajectories assemble real situations in basketball games. We compare the proposed method with the state-of-the-art works in terms of both objective and subjective manners. The objective manner compares the average position, velocity, and acceleration of the generated defensive trajectories with the real ones to evaluate the fidelity of the results. In addition, more high-level aspects such as the empty space for offender and the defensive pressure of the generated trajectory are also considered in the objective evaluation. As for the subjective manner, visual comparison questionnaires on the proposed and other methods are thoroughly conducted. The experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve better performance than previous basketball defensive trajectory generation works in terms of different evaluation metrics.
Migration in the 21st century is one of the pre-eminent issues of our present historical moment, a phenomenon that has acquired new urgency with accelerating climate change, civil wars, and growing economic scarcities. Refugees and Migrants in Film, Art and Media consists of eleven essays that explore how artists have imaginatively engaged with this monumental human drama, examining a range of alternative modes of representation that provide striking new takes on the experiences of these precarious populations. Covering prominent art works by Ai Weiwei and Richard Mosse, and extending the spectrum of representation to refugee film workshops on the island of Lesvos as well as virtual reality installations of Alejandro G. Iñárritu and others, the chapters included here focus on the power of aesthetic engagement to illuminate the stories of refugees and migrants in ways that overturn journalistic clichés.
The environmental microclimatic characteristics are often subject to fluctuations of considerable importance, which can cause irreparable damage to art works. We explored the applicability of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to the Cultural Heritage area, with the aim of predicting short-term microclimatic values based on data collected at Rosenborg Castle (Copenhagen), housing the Royal Danish Collection. Specifically, this study applied the NAR (Nonlinear Autoregressive) and NARX (Nonlinear Autoregressive with Exogenous) models to the Rosenborg microclimate time series. Even if the two models were applied to small datasets, they have shown a good adaptive capacity predicting short-time future values. This work explores the use of AI in very short forecasting of microclimate variables in museums as a potential tool for decision-support systems to limit the climate-induced damages of artworks within the scope of their preventive conservation. The proposed model could be a useful support tool for the management of the museums.
The appreciation system of art works is a system that combines art with computer. The function of the system is mainly divided into two parts. The administrator part only realizes the operation of adding, modifying and deleting the relevant information of the art works, including the detailed information of the works, the relevant information of the painter, the background art management and comment management of the art works, and the user information management; In the user part, it mainly realizes the functions of browsing, understanding and learning art works, and increases the functions of attention and comment on works. After development and debugging, the system runs normally, all functions of the administrator side are basically realized, and relevant operations can be carried out; The functions of the client are basically all realized. Users can choose some functions of the system according to their preferences.
The following text explores performative art works commissioned within a specific “arts and health” cultural setting, namely that of a medical school within a British university. It examines the degree to which the professional autonomy of the artists (and curator) was “instrumentalized” and diminished as a result of having to fit into normative frames set by institutional agendas (in this case, that of “the neoliberal university”). We ask to what extent do such “entanglements,” feel more like “enstranglements,” suffocating the artist’s capacity to envision the world afresh or any differently? What kinds of pressures allow for certain kinds of “evidence” to be read and made visible, (and not others)? Are You Feeling Better? was a 2016 programme curated by Frances Williams, challenging simplistic expectations that the arts hold any automatic power of their own to make “things better” in healthcare. It included two performative projects – The Secret Society of Imperfect Nurses, by Anthony Schrag with student nurses at Kings College London, and Hiding in Plain Sight by Becky Shaw (plus film with Rose Butler) with doctoral researchers in nursing and midwifery. These projects were situated in a climate of United Kingdom National Health Service cuts and austerity measures where the advancement of social prescribing looks dangerously like the government abnegating responsibility and offering art as amelioration. The text therefore examines the critical “stage” on which these arts-health projects were performed and the extent to which critical reflection is welcomed within institutional contexts, how learning is framed, expressed aesthetically, as well as understood as art practice (as much as “education” or “learning”). It further examines how artistic projects might offer sites of resistance, rejection and mechanisms of support against constricting institutional norms and practices that seek to instrumentalise artistic works to their own ends.
NSGA-II is an evolutionary multi-objective optimization algorithm that has been applied to a wide variety of search and optimization problems since its publication in 2000. This study presents a review and bibliometric analysis of numerous NSGA-II adaptations in addressing scheduling problems. This paper is divided into two parts. The first part discusses the main ideas of scheduling and different evolutionary computation methods for scheduling and provides a review of different scheduling problems, such as production and personnel scheduling. Moreover, a brief comparison of different evolutionary multi-objective optimization algorithms is provided, followed by a summary of state-of-the-art works on the application of NSGA-II in scheduling. The next part presents a detailed bibliometric analysis focusing on NSGA-II for scheduling applications obtained from the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases based on keyword and network analyses that were conducted to identify the most interesting subject fields. Additionally, several criteria are recognized which may advise scholars to find key gaps in the field and develop new approaches in future works. The final sections present a summary and aims for future studies, along with conclusions and a discussion.
The purpose of this study is to increase the artistic value of hair art. And it is about providing basic data and expanding contributions to follow-up research. Hair art works reinterpret the inner beauty of winter flowers that bloom in full bloom in the cold winter. The research method collected prior studies and references based on winter flowers. Also, we selected four types of winter flowers and analyzed their shapes and colors. I created 4 pieces of hair art. As a result, the colorful color of work 1 increased the aesthetic effect due to its high chroma. Works 2 expresses the elegance of irregularly blooming petals on a single stalk. In work 3, warm yellow flowers are soft and cozy on a scrawny tree. The flower in work 4 is seductive navy purple. And the large and small flowers were placed stably with increased concentration. In conclusion, the possibility of creating hair art from a new perspective was confirmed by applying several colors with white wigs. In future research, we look forward to the possibility of combining hair art with nature motifs and re-lighting it with formative art to satisfy its value.
The U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) exhibition known as Native Voices reflected Donald A.B. Lindberg M.D.’s keen and long-held desire to help improve public understanding of Native American health challenges and honor the culture, tradition, and healing ways of Native Peoples. A centerpiece of the exhibition was a large set of video interviews that Dr. Lindberg conducted with Native health and community leaders. Dr. Lindberg and his team engaged Native advisors in the exhibition development; sought Native input through Listening Circles, Tribal Consultations; and site visits, and made the video interviews accessible via interactive kiosks and iPads. For its time, this was state-of-the-art exhibition technology. The exhibition also included Native artifacts and art works to complement the videos, including a scale model of the iconic Hokule’a Native Hawaiian voyaging canoe, and a full-size Lummi Indian healing totem pole. The totem journeyed across the U.S. prior to its installation next to the NLM herbal garden in Bethesda, MD. A traveling version of the exhibition visited more than 130 venues in 40 States across the U.S. The interview clips and other content are accessible on the exhibition website, and the full-length interviews are retained in the NLM permanent video collection.
A partir das disciplinas Educação e Tecnologia e Narrativa Ficcional e Documentário do Curso de Rádio e Televisão da UFMA, foi elaborado um produto audiovisual que relaciona arte urbana, comunicação e educação. O “documentário grafite.mp4” apresenta o processo de ensino baseado nas experiências de vida advindas dos educadores e educandos através do ato comunicativo, onde a arte urbana funciona como meio de repensar esses processos dentro do espaço escolar. Logo, este presente trabalho busca analisar teoricamente tais atos evidenciados na produção do documentário, traçando caminhos conceituais para compreendê-los, através do tripé teórico comunicação,experiência e educação.Grafitti.mp4 documentary: refletions on the education communication interfaceAbstractFrom the subjects Education and Technology and Fictional Narrative and Documentary of the Radio and Television Course at UFMA, an audiovisual product was made to relate urban art, communication and education. The “grafite.mp4 documentary” presents the teaching process based on life experiences arising from educators and students through the communicative act, where urban art works as ways of rethinking these processes within the school space. Therefore, this present work seeks to theoretically analise such acts evidenced in the production of the documentary, tracing conceptual paths to understand them, through the theoretical tripod communication, education and experience.Keywords: Communication; education; experience; documentary.
