This research aims to determine the role of bonus allocation and balanced scorecard training in the selection of investment projects. This research used a controlled laboratory experiment method with a pretest-posttest control group experimental design which involves two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experiment was carried out on 46 accounting graduate students as participants. The results of this research indicate that in selecting the investment projects, participants tend to comply with the bonus allocation policies and that balanced scorecard training is capable of predisposing participants to select projects that are oriented to long-term benefits by observed to financial and non-financial aspects. This research is specifically expected to contribute in the form of an illustration to the company about the importance of training related to the concepts and assignment techniques as well as an overview of the importance of providing appropriate bonus allocation bases to improve employee performance and evade opportunistic behavior

Objective: India is the second country after China having the highest population prevalence of diabetes. Several research studies investigating diabetes have been done, but not much work has been done on prediabetes. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of nutrition and lifestyle modification on prediabetic females. Methods: A total of 120 prediabetic females from Ludhiana city were divided into 2 matched groups: control group (n = 60) and experimental group (n = 60). Impact of nutrition intervention for dietary and lifestyle modification (for 3 months) was assessed on the anthropometric, dietary, biochemical parameters, and diabetes risk score of the experimental group and control group (no intervention). Results: All the selected 120 subjects completed the study (experimental group = 60; control group = 60). There was significant difference in the changes between the 2 groups throughout the study. The fasting blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin A1c levels of the experimental group subjects reduced significantly ( P ≤ .01). However, no change was observed among the control group subjects. The lipid profile of the experimental group showed a significant improvement ( P ≤ .01). Conclusion: Nutrition counselling of the prediabetics regarding dietary and lifestyle modification is recommended so as to improve their metabolic control, thus preventing them from being diabetics.

Recent research has explored the role of empathy in the context of music listening. Here, through an empathy priming paradigm, situational empathy was shown to act as a causal mechanism in inducing emotion, although the way empathy was primed had low levels of ecological validity. We therefore conducted an online experiment to explore the extent to which information about a composer’s expressive intentions when writing a piece of music would significantly affect the degree to which participants reportedly empathise with the composer and in turn influence emotional responses to expressive music. A total of 229 participants were randomly assigned to three groups. The experimental group read short texts describing the emotions felt by the composer during the process of composition. To control for the effect of text regardless of its content, one control group read texts describing the characteristics of the music they were to hear, and a second control group was not given any textual information. Participants listened to 30-second excerpts of four pieces of music, selected to express emotions from the four quadrants of the circumplex theory of emotion. Having heard each music excerpt, participants rated the valence and arousal they experienced and completed a measure of situational empathy. Results show that situational empathy in response to music is significantly associated with trait empathy. As opposed to those in the control conditions, participants in the experimental group responded with significantly higher levels of situational empathy. Receiving this text significantly moderated the effect of the expressiveness of stimuli on induced emotion, indicating that it induced empathy. We conclude that empathy can be induced during music listening through the provision of information about the specific emotions of a person relating to the music. These findings contribute to an understanding of the psychological mechanisms that underlie emotional responses to music.

An intensive physical exercise program could lead to a decrease in immune system function. Effects of long-term supplementation of bovine colostrum on the response of immune function on physical exercise test in athletes were examined. Twenty-seven elite female basketball players (age 16–19) were randomly assigned to either an experimental group or a control group. Eventually, n = 11 athletes completed intervention in the experimental group (3.2 g bovine colostrum orally twice a day for 24 weeks), while n = 9 athletes in the control group were given a placebo. Before the supplementation, after 3 and 6 months, subjects performed the physical exercise stress test. Before, just after, and 3 h after physical exercise testing, blood was drawn and immune system indicators were examined. Plasma interleukin (IL)-1alpha, IL-2, IL-10, IL-13, tumor necrosis factor (TNF) alpha, creatine kinase (CK MM), immunoglobulin G (IgG), insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), and WBC, lymphocyte (LYM), monocyte (MON), and granulocyte (GRA) were measured. A statistically significant change in IL-10 in response to the exercise program during the supplementation period in both groups was observed (p = 0.01). However, the results of the rest of the comparisons were statistically insignificant (p > 0.05). Contrary to our initial hypothesis, there were no significant effects of bovine supplementation on the dynamics of immune system function indicators.

Increasing the production of pork meat requires careful work not only in terms of breeding, but also in the organization of complete feeding of animals, the correct selection of feed and feed additives containing the necessary nutrients. The purpose of the work was to analyze the use of premix in feeding young pigs on fattening. Two groups of fattening young pigs (Large White×Landrace) have been selected for the researches using the method of analogous groups, taking into account the breed, age, and live weight per 20 heads in each group with a live weight of 35 kg. Pigs of the control group have received the main economic diet, and animals of the experimental group have received an additional premix Khutorok at the rate of 10 g of premix per 1 kg of feed. The results have shown that the best age to reach 100 kg was in the experimental group of pigs – 215,8 days, which received premix with feed that characterizes their higher precocity by 36,3 days (P < 0,001) than in the control group of animals. The use of this premix had a positive impact on the livability of young animals, in the experimental group it was by 9,3 abs.% more than in the control group of animals. Thus, the best fattening traits have been possessed by young pigl of the experimental group have been received the premix Khutorok in their diet at the rate of 10 g of premix per 1 kg of feed. The obtained data indicate the feasibility of using the premix Khutorok in the feeding pigs for fattening.

In 2010 and 2011 two experiments on gimmers of Šumava mountain sheep were performed. The first experiment was carried out on 12 animals (experimental period was 11 months); control group was fed with 3 mg I*kg−1 in dry matter per day and experimental group was fed with 5 mg I*kg−1 in dry matter per day. The second experiment lasted 10 months and it was carried out on 12 animals. Feed ration for control group contained 10 mg I*kg DM−1. Feed ration for experimental group contained 10 mg I*kg DM−1 too; moreover it included rapeseed meal and 1 g of sodium nitrate. The aim of the first experiment was focused on impact of high iodine intake on structure of thyroid gland. The aim of the second experiment was to discover effect of strumigens during high iodine intake on structure of thyroid gland. The animals were slaughtered after the experiment and there was executed the dissection of thyroid gland. The samples of thyroid gland were processed during classic paraffin method and dyed with haematoxylin and eosin. For finding of histometrical parameters was used program Leica IM 500 Version 4.0. The length, the width and the area of follicles were measured. The follicles were divided into three groups after this procedure (by the length); in each group were measured 20 thyreocytes. In group with intake 5 mg I*kg DM−1 (experiment from year 2010): higher weight of thyroid (p < 0.01), significant higher (p < 0.05) proportional representation of large and medium follicles, significantly (p < 0.05) higher average size of follicles, demonstrably lower (p < 0.05) height of epithelium were found. There were not found any differences in monitored parameters between the groups from experiment which was carried out during the year 2011. After comparing results from the both experiments significantly higher percentage representation of large follicles a significantly lower representation of small follicles, distinctly higher average size and higher height of epithelium in all size categories, in groups with iodine intake 10 mg I*kg DM−1was found (from second experiment – year 2011).

Background: Liver metastases are the leading cause of death in patients with colorectal cancer. Despite advances in chemotherapy, surgical resection of hepatic metastases is still considered the only curative options. However, the majority of patients have inoperable disease at presentation. Perioperative chemotherapy is the most successful way for improved selection of patients for resection. The aim of the study was to demonstrate if and to what extent does bevacizumab, introduced in chemotherapy, increase response rates, and development of liver metastases. Methods: Our study included 50 patients who were divided in two groups. The experimental group included patients who were treated with bevacizumab plus chemotherapy, and the control group included patients who were treated with chemotherapy only. Results: The comparison showed that the patients who were treated with bevacizumab became candidates for resection of liver metastases in higher percentage (85%:52%). In addition, distribution of patients regarding the development of metastases resulted in statistically significant difference. Ratio between the patients with good response from the experimental and the control group was 67%:39%. Ratio of patients with stable disease was 26%:48%, and of patients with progressive disease, it was 7%:3%. The estimate of margin after resection was statistically insignificant. Conclusion: Bevacizumab in combination with chemotherapy in therapy of liver metastases from primary colorectal cancer improves and increases response rates and development of liver metastases.

The present study examined the role of awareness of metaphor in learners’ lexical learning. A total of 35 intermediate English as second language (ESL) students participated in this study. Participants were randomly divided into two small groups. One (N = 17) served as the control group and the other (N = 18) as the experimental group. Both groups were taught several metaphorically-used expressions over a period of six weeks. The groups differed in that the experimental group received systematic and explicit explanations of the source and target relationships that underlie metaphor, while the control group did not receive such instruction. Pre-tests and Post-tests were administered in order to measure lexical understanding of metaphorical items. Two journal entries were given out to students at two different intervals throughout the teaching period in order to tap into their views of how their lexical understanding of metaphor was changing, or not changing, over time. Results revealed that those students who received systematic and explicit explanations on the concrete experiential basis of metaphor showed greater understanding of metaphorical meanings, and seemed more inclined to unpacking their metaphoricity by looking at what lies behind them.

Introduction. Currently, due to environmental and social problems, nervous strain, muscle inactivity, more and more people are starting to engage in health fitness in the hope of improving health, improving physical condition, learning how to deal with stress and lose weight. Nowadays, compared to other types of fitness, shaping classes have become more and more popular as an effective way to lose weight and body shape. Although shaping was originally developed as a system of individual classes, the current practice of group classes requires the search for new approaches in planning shaping programs: there is no research on the selection of exercises, volume and intensity of classes based on individual physiques of those involved. Aim: to increase the effectiveness of classes in order to correct the figure of women 21-35 years old through the use of shaping programs, taking into account their body types. Material and methods. The study involved 30 women aged 21 - 35 years, divided into control and experimental groups, in which 15 people each were divided by somatotype. The pedagogical experiment was conducted on the basis of the sports club "Fitness Box" in Kyiv. Results. It was found that as a result of the application of the developed shaping program in the women of the experimental group there was a decrease in the fat layer in endomorphs by 13.2%, and in the control group of endomorphs by 7.2% (p < 0,05). Changes in the fat layer in the control and experimental groups are supplemented by changes in girth: chest, shoulder, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, the dynamics of which proves the effectiveness of our program compared to traditional. Conclusions. The application of the developed shaping program allows to solve the problem of improving the efficiency of shaping in order to correct the figure taking into account endomorphic body type of women first adult age.
