The objectives of this research is to find out the effectiveness of retelling short story toward students’ accuracy in speaking skill. This research employed pre-experimental method which entails pre-test, treatment, and post-test. Speaking test was used in collecting the data. A total of 39 students of MTsN Makassar as the subject of this research.. The data on the students’ speaking skill were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results demonstrated that there was a differentiation between the students’accuracy in speaking skill before and after being thought through retelling short story. The null hypotesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (HI) was accepted because the t-test value was 5,42 which was higher than t-table value 2,024.. The mean score of the students before teaching retelling short story was 2,95 classified as poor score. After teaching retelling short story the mean score was 3,38 classified as a good score. Based on result of data analysis above, the researcher drew conclusion that retelling short story could effective toward students’ accuracy in speaking skill.

This research aims to see the students’ speaking skill before and after learning process by using expression card media at the second grade of SMA Negeri 1 Parepare. The results of the research are useful for the teacher and students. The teacher should aware that it is important to supplied the technique or strategy before teaching and the students also can be easier to express their ideas, make the students more active in learning process. The subject of this research is XI IIS4 class which is consisted of 30 students. The sample was taken by using simple random sampling. The design in this research was pre-experimental with pre-test and post-test design. The student did the pre-test, got the treatment and did the post-test. Then the criteria of speaking skills are fluency, accuracy, content, pronunciation and they were usedto measure the students’ speaking skill. It aimed to know whether using expression card media can improve the students’ speaking skill. The result in this research was indicated that there was improvement of the students’ speaking skill. It was indicated by the students’ mean score of post-test (73.3) was greater than pre-test (41.9). Even, for the level significant (p) 5% and (df) = N-1=30-1=29, and the value of table is 1.699, while the value of t-test is 16.18. it means that, the t-test value is greater than t-table (16.18 ≥ 1.699). Thus, it can be concluded that the students’ speaking skill is significant better after getting the treatment. So, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is fail rejected.

<p>This research presented about the effect of CLT Method on Students’ Speaking Skill at the Second Grade of MTsN 1 Kolaka. The research question was “is there significant effect of CLT Method on Students’ Speaking Skill at the Second Grade of MTsN 1 Kolaka?” The objective was to find out the effect of CLT method, the data and information about students’ speaking skill at the second grade of MTsN 1 Kolaka. The design of this research was quasy expriment in two classes with pre-test and post-test design. The sample were class VIII MTsN 1 Kolaka of 208 students and took 54 students as the sample. The instruments were speaking test comprehension. Data collection techniques in this research were giving pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The result it was found that in expriment class the mean score of pre-test (52,2) was smaller than the mean score of post-test (62,6) it means that the increased of the students’ speaking SKILL was 37% (0,51) and the value of was bigger than at the significant level 0,05 and degree of freedom –26, it means that   was rejected and  was accepted. It can concluded that there was an effect of CLT  method on students’ speaking skill at the second grade of MTsN 1 Kolaka.</p>

This research aimed to find out the effectiveness of a hot seating strategy to improve the students' speaking skills at SMP NEGERI 3 Madang Suku III OKU TIMUR. This research adopted a pre-experimental research design. The subject of this research was the first students' of SMP NEGERI 3 Madang Suku III OKU TIMUR which consisted of 31 students with 12 boys and 19 girls. Pre-test and post-test were done to collect the data. The instrument of the test was the oral speaking test. A paired sample t-test was used to compare the data from pre-test and post-test. The finding showed that the Mean score of the pre-test was 46.63 and the mean score of the post-test was 53.27. The value of t-obtained = 2.653 was more than t-table = 2.024 with df = 30 and the value of sig. (2-tailed) was 0.000 less than significance level (α = 0.05).). The conclusion, a hot seating strategy was significantly effective to improve students' speaking skills. It implies that this technique can be used to improve students’ speaking skills among the many existing methods and techniques.

This study was aimed to improve the students’ speaking achievement by using storytelling technique. The subject of the study was the eight grade students of Public Junior High School 22 Medan in academic year 2018/2019. This study was conducted by applying Classrom Action Research (CAR), which had been conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments of collecting data were quantitative data (speaking test) and qualitative data (observation checklist and field notes). The result of the test shows that the mean score of pre test is 40, formative test is 46.34, and post test is 62.89. The percentage of the students’ means score improve from pre test to post test 57.2%. The result of observation checklist and field notes showed that the students were interested in teaching and learning English especially speaking skill by using storytelling technique. These indicated that there was a significant improvement of the students’ speaking achievement by using storytelling technique.

This study aimed at finding out the students’ speaking skill by using debate.The research design used a pre-experimental, in which it used the pre-test and post-test comparison to find out the result of the research. The population of the research was all students of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Perguruan Tinggi Islam Makassar which consisted of three classes. Each class consists of more than 20 students, so the total number of population was 85 students. Among the total number of population, the researcher took one class to be a sample of this research by using purposive sampling technique. The instruments of this research were speaking test and recording. To analyze the score of the students’ achievement in pre-test and post-test, the researcher used t-test analyses. The result of the data showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test. The value of t-test (6.35) was greater than the t-table (1.729) at the level of significant (p) = 0.05 and degree of freedom (df) = 19. It can be said that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Which means that there was a significant difference between the students’ speaking ability before and after using debate or it can be said that the use of debate was effective in improving the students’ speaking skill at the Eleventh Grade of SMA Perguruan Tinggi Islam Makassar?Keywords: Debate Technique, Speaking Ability

This study aims to determine the process of improving speaking skill through role play for tenth grade students of MANida'ul Khairaat Pombewe in the academic year 2020/2021. This study used pre-experimental design research methods. The researcher chose class 10thas a sample consisting of 10 students. In collecting the data, researchers used four types of instruments, namely: pre-test, treatment, post-test and documentation. The result of the data calculation showed that mean score of the students’ pre-test was 40.9, it was lower than the mean score of post-test 52.6. In analyzing the data the researchers used the 0.05 and 0.01 degree of significance and df (degree of freedom) N-1. This study has two hypothesis which are the null hypothesis or Ho (there is no improvement of using role play to the students’ speaking skill, and the alternative hypothesis or Ha (there is improvement of using role play to the students’ speaking skill). It can be concluded that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. The use of role play was effective to improve the students speaking skill at the tenth grade of students in MA Nida’ul Khairaat Pombewe.

This Collaborative Classroom Action Research aimed at enhancing students’ speaking skill through the application of Circle Game. It was conducted in one cycle consisting of two meetings. The subject was the seventh of C class of SMPN 2 Alas Barat consisting of 22 students. The types of data were qualitative (acquiring observation during the learning process) and quantitative (speaking tests). The results qualitatively showed that the implementation of Circle Game enhanced the students’ speaking skills. Such improvement could be seen from their enthusiasm, their interesting feeling in various materials presented by the teacher, their active involvement. In the quantitative findings, the result also showed a higher value of the mean score of the post-test (77.34) rather than the pre-test (75.75). In conclusion, the use of Circle Game can improve students’ speaking skill.

This study aimed at investigating the effect of strategies-based instruction on students’ speaking skill at Lakidende University and the students’ interest in learning English through strategies-based instruction. This research employed Quasi Experimental Method, with non-equivalent control group design. This research assigned experimental group and control group (30 students for each).Speaking test was used to see the effect of strategies-based instruction on students’ speaking skill and questionnaire was used to see students’ interest in learning English through strategies-based instruction. The data obtained through the speaking test were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Meanwhile, the data from questionnaire were analyzed in percentage and descriptive statistics. The students’ speaking skill covered three components: accuracy, fluency, and comprehensibility. The findings showed that there was an improvement on the students’ speaking ability after the treatment. There was a significant difference between the results of post-test of experimental and control group, where the mean score of post-test of experimental group was 70.37, which was higher than the mean score of post-test of control group was 59.63.The value of P-value or sig. (2-tailed) shows that P-value or sig. (2-tailed) is smaller than α (0.00 < 0.05).Furthermore, the data that were collected from questionnaire showed that the students were very high interest toward strategies-based instruction. This study was aimed at finding the effect of small group discussion in improving speaking skills at the seventh year students of SMA Plus NW. This research was conducted as quasi-experiment using a quantitative approach with One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The population of the research was the eleventh-grade students of SMA Plus Munirul Arifin NW Praya in academic year 2018/2019. Each class consists of 28 students. The total population was 95 students. In this study, the researcher took one class as a sample. The class was eleventh Grade of MIPA 1 consisting of 28 students as the experiment. The researcher gave treatment to the experimental group and it used Small Group Discussion as the treatment of teaching speaking. The purpose of using the Small Group Discussion was to give new inspiration that can be applied in teaching speaking. Referring to the result pre-test and post-test showed that the sig (2 tailed) > 0.05, it means that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. So the use of Small Group Discussion in teaching speaking is effective. The value of t-test was higher than the t-value of t-table (t-test 8.5148 > t-table 2.006). It showed that teaching speaking using small group discussion has a positive effect to improve students' speaking skill. Besides that, the result of the mean of post-test was higher than the mean of pre-test (M2 = 18.43 > M1 = 14.25). It means that teaching speaking by using small group discussion was more effective than teaching speaking without using small group discussion. In addition, small group discussion can improve students' speaking skill in the eleventh-grade students of SMA Plus Munirul Arifin NW Praya.

The objective of this research was to find out the improvement of students’ speaking skill teaching through Whole Brain Teaching method. The design used in this research was pre experimental. The population of this research was at the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 OKU and the sample were which consisted of 36 students. The researcher used purposive sampling in taking the samples. The pre-test and post-test were used as the techniques for collecting the data. Instrument in this research was an oral speaking test. Based on the result of the pre- test, the mean score of the pre-test was 56.28. The result of the post-test the mean score was 68.89. Based on the statistical analysis, the researcher found that the value of Sig.= 0,000 less than the value of Significance level (a=0,05 and df = 35). It means that  there was significantly improvement in teaching speaking by Whole Brain Teaching method at the the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 OKU.
