This study examined the effect of knowledge acquisition capability on organizational performance of firms in multiple industries in Oyo State, Nigeria, more so, it investigated the indirect effect of strategic response capability on the interaction between knowledge acquisition capability and organizational performance. The cross-sectional survey is designed with a sample of 343 employees from multiple industries; including banks, insurance, FMCGs, telecoms and small and medium enterprises in Oyo State, Nigeria. The multiple regression analysis to test the mediation hypotheses was conducted. The results show that knowledge acquisition capability has a positive and significant effect on organizational performance (R2 =0.306, F (1,341) = 150.057, β= 0.489, t= 12.250, p= 0.000),). Further analysis shows that when strategic response capability was incorporated into the model as a multiple regression analysis, (Adj. R2 = 0.462, F(2,340) =148.135 p= 0.000) reveals that while the coefficient of strategic response capability had significant effect (β=0.732, t= 10.092, p= 0.000) on organizational performance, the coefficient of knowledge acquisition capability became insignificant (β= -0.084, t= -1.262, p= 0.208) suggesting that a full mediation effect was established. The findings suggest that knowledge acquisition capability benefit organizational performance through the deployment of strategic response capability. Therefore, the study recommended that firms should strengthen their competency to develop innovative means of acquiring knowledge either from within or outside the organization, more so they should develop highly creative means to respond to both competitive rivalry and environmental challenges. This is because both capabilities can be adopted as competitive strategies in responding to changing environment and achieving significant superior performance

This study assessed the effect of strategic response capability on firm competitiveness of selected paint manufacturers in Lagos State, Nigeria, more so, it ascertained the moderating effect of Omoluabi leadership on the interaction between strategic response capability and firm competitiveness. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey design and a sample of 343 employees of eighteen selected paint manufacturers in Lagos State, Nigeria. A hierarchical regression analysis to test three-way interaction hypotheses was conducted. The results showed that strategic response capability had a positive and significant effect on firm competitiveness (R2 = 0.46.3, F (1,341) 294.165, p= .000). Further analysis showed that the interaction term of strategic response capability and Omoluabi leadership explained the increase in firms’ competitiveness (ΔR2 =0.039, p=0.000) with the introduction of Omoluabi leadership as a moderator. The study through its findings established that strategic response capability enhances firm competitiveness through the deployment of Omoluabi leadership. Hence, this study recommends that firms should strengthen their strategic response capability and encourages leadership to imbibe the philosophy of Omoluabi leadership this is because such a leadership attribute potentially improves firm competitiveness.

This chapter integrates collectivism with the dimensions of the Expectancy Theory to investigate the direct and indirect impact of horizontal and vertical collectivism on employee motivation of operational and non-operational staff. Data were collected from 205 employees using a cross-sectional survey. Hypotheses were tested with multiple regression analysis. Across both employee categories, horizontal collectivism improves motivation while vertical collectivism does not have a significant impact on motivation. Mediation effects were significant in the relationship between horizontal collectivism across both employee categories. However, there were some variations in the mediation effects on the relationship between vertical collaboration and motivation across the two categories. This chapter contributes to motivation literature by integrating the Expectancy Theory with two under-investigated dimensions of collectivism to compare motivation determinants among operational and non-operational staff. This chapter presents implications for managers and policy for improving employee motivation.

Methodology: The data was collected through online mode by providing google link to fill questionnaire form through various social media platforms. The questionnaire consists of demographic details, knowledge and practice related questions. SPSS was used to interpret data and chi-square test, independent T test, backward multiple regression analysis was done. Results: From the collected data a total of 1178 responses were collected (urban:726, rural:452). From independent T test the knowledge mean score of HH was: 10.07±2.136 for urban population and 9.79±2.138 for rural population. By this urban population has more knowledge than rural population. From backward multiple regression analysis of Knowledge score, the findings shown that the urban male residents with 2 members household residing in Tamilnadu have preferably more knowledge than others when compared with demographic details. From the independent T test the HH practice mean score was 11.25±1.991 for urban residents and 10.77±2.280 for rural residents. From the Backward multiple regression analysis of Practice score, the findings shown that most parsimonious combination of region (rural, urban), age group (10-30 years, 30-60 years and >60 years), gender(female, male), state and UT (Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Telangana, Andaman and nicobar, Puducherry, Lakshadweep), household (2, 3, 4, >4 members), education level (10 and below 10, intermediate, UG, PG, Ph. D) in predicting the practice score. Conclusion: The study results concluded that urban residents have preferably more knowledge than rural residents. Seaweed-Kappaphycus-Euchema Cottonii and Denticulum species was first cultivated at Sabah side of Sebatik in 2009. By November 2014, sixty one Sabahan seaweed farmers cultivated 122 ha or 3,050 long lines. Thirty Sabahan seaweed farmers in Kampung Pendekar (3.2 m.t dried) and 31 in Burst Point (12.5 m.t dried) produced 16 metric tonnes of dried seaweed contributed 31% to Tawau’s total production (51 m.t). The remaining 69% were from farmers in Cowie Bay that separates Sebatik from municipality of Tawau. Indonesian in Desa Setabu, Sebatik started in 2008. However, the number of Indonesian seaweed farmers, their cultivated areas and production (as well as quality) in Sebatik increased many times higher and faster than the Sabah side of Sebatik. In 2009 more than 1,401 households in Kabupaten Nunukan (including Sebatik) cultivated over 700 ha and have produced 55,098.95 and 116, 73 m.t dried seaweed in 2010 and 2011 respectively. There is a divergence in productions from farming the sea off the same island under similar weather conditions. Which of the eight explanatory factors were affecting production of seaweeds in Sebatik? Using Cobb Douglas production function, Multiple Regression analysis was conducted on 100 samples (50 Sabahan and 50 Indonesian). Results; Variable significant at α = 0.05% are Experience in farming whereas Farm size; Quantity of propagules and Location — Dummy are the variables significant at α 0.01%.
