Abstract— An induction motors  (IM) in many industries is used because it has several advantages, such as a very simple and strong construction, the price is relatively cheap, has good efficiency, power factor is quite good, and maintenance is easier. Besides the advantages of induction motors also have disadvantages, one disadvantage of induction motors is not being able to maintain a constant speed when there is a change in load. If the load changes, the speed of the induction motor will decrease. One method of regulating the speed of an induction motor presented in this study is the regulation of an induction motor using a carrier based PWM (CBPWM) inverter with the field oriented control  (FOC) technique. The estimation of rotor rotation, torque and flux is done by carrier- based PWM  technique which is given input voltage and stator current. To achieve the desired flux and torque, estimation is used as feedback in the control system. In this study, it will be simulated the induction motor speed regulation with a carrier base-based inverter using Matlab. The results obtained through simulation show the length of time to reach the reference speed for speeds of 1500 rpm and 1450 rpm is around 0.45 seconds. And THD  average 2,675%.

This paper deals with study of Three phase Five Level and Seven Level inverter fed induction motor drive . Both five level and seven level are realized by cascading two H- bridges. The poor quality of voltage and current of a conventional inverter fed induction machine is due to the presence of harmonics and hence there is significant level of energy losses. The Multilevel inverter is used to reduce the harmonics. The inverters with a large number of steps can generate high quality voltage waveforms. The higher levels can follow a voltage reference with accuracy and with the advantage that the generated voltage can be modulated in amplitude instead of pulse-width modulation. An active harmonic elimination method is applied to eliminate any number of specific higher order harmonics of multilevel converters with unequal dc voltages. The simulation of three phase five and seven level inverter fed induction motor model is done using Matlab/Simulink. The FFT spectrums for the outputs are analyzed to study the reduction in the harmonics.

Currently, induction motors are widely used in industry because have a high potential for the efficiency improvement. Therefore, a topic of interest to the industry is to reduce the energy consumption of induction motors, as they represent almost half of the total electrical energy consumption in the world. The energy consumption of electric motors can be reduced by using motors that are more efficient and by using power converters to feed the motors, thereby enabling accurate control according to the load. The function of the power converter is to modify the intrinsic characteristics of the induction motor (speed and torque). There are different topologies of the power converter commonly called inverter for induction motors. An inverter requires a modulation strategy for its operation, there are several modulation strategies that are used in the induction converter-motor assembly. This paper presents the comparative analysis of the influence of the phase disposition modulation (PD-PWM) strategy with different modulation indices, on parameters related to the output signal of a seven-level cascaded multilevel inverter as well as on the nominal working conditions of a three-phase induction motor.

This research was conducted to regulate the three phase induction motor speed regulation system. Changes in load on the motor affect the motor speed response so it does not match the set point speed. This study uses the Direct Torque Control (DTC) method in regulating the speed of an induction motor. The DTC method is a vector control method that is directly assigned to the inverter. DTC method in controlling speed based on Proportional Integral Differential (PID) control. Determination of PID tunning using two methods, namely, ziegler-nichols and cohen-coon method. The ziegler-nichols method have overshoot speeds starting at 0.8% of the setpoint, whereas using the cohen coon method there is no overshoot and the speed at stable conditions matches the setpoint.

The paper presents a new approach in the analysis of a transient state in a system where the feeding source is a transducer-IGBT inverter and load is introduced through the induction motor with itsR-Lparameters. Induction motors with different parameters of powers and power factors are tested. MATLAB simulation of the three-phase inverter that feeds the induction machine has replaced the missing lab equipment with which mathematical model of this system was verified. According to the selected parameters of the inverter and induction machine and through the simulation in the MATLAB program, the results are obtained in the form of diagrams that verify the model of a transient state of the induction machine operation when it operates as a motor which is presented as a variableR-Lload. The transient process of the system three-phase bridge inverter whose active-inductive load is the induction machine in the conditions of the change of the load parameters is analyzed. The model of the transient process in the system formed by the inverter in PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) converter and induction machine is developed in the time domain and phase coordinates.

Almost 70% of the energy produced by the generator is consumed by electric motors. The use of induction motors in industry and factories is more profitable than DC or synchronous motors, one of the advantages is easy maintenance and high efficiency. On machines in the industry speed regulation is absolutely necessary. Along with the development of power electronics, this has become very easy to do, namely by supplying a motor with a variable speed drive (VSD) inverter. With the supply of a variable speed drive inverter, it is possible to adjust the motor speed by adjusting the voltage frequency. This study was conducted to determine the effect of decreasing the frequency using a variable speed drive inverter on the performance of a five-phase induction motor. Tests are carried out at a frequency of 50 Hz (grid frequency), 35, 40, 45, 50 Hz (inverter frequency) and the motor is loaded at 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5Nm. From the research, it was concluded that, among others, the use of a variable speed drive inverter resulted in greater motor losses and the motor produced a louder sound. At the same frequency (50 Hz) the efficiency of the motor is better when supplied directly from the grid.

A three-phase induction motor is one of the electric machines and is classified as an AC motor that is widely used in the industrial world. The development of control systems in the industry will not be separated from the data communication system. To send data from the field (sensor) to the controller, for communication between controllers, to send data from the controller to the computer, all require data communication. One of the most widely used data communication systems in industrial control systems is the Modbus protocol. Even in the world of education there are also many studies that develop control systems using modbus communication. The speed regulation of three phase induction motor can be done in various ways one of them is by using Variable Speed Drive which functions to adjust the frequency of the source so as to get the desired motor speed (rpm). Communication between VSD, Arduino and PC with the MODBUS protocol is a system built to be able to monitor the performance of a three phase induction motor.

Inverters on induction motor control are widely used both in industry, transportation, household, and agriculture. This inverter is designed to convert Direct Current electricity into Alternating Current electricity. In this study, the inverter is designed using the Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) switching method and is able to produce pure sine waves of two frequencies of 50 Hz and 25 Hz with input control based on the reading of the soil moisture sensor. The purpose of this research is to apply to the controller of automatic watering plants. This system uses Arduino Uno as a SPWM signal generator and processes the reading of the soil moisture sensor and controls the LC filter. Based on the test results of the inverter control system, it is obtained an output voltage of 200 volts with a measured frequency of 48.83 Hz and 24.61 Hz with an input voltage of 12 Volt DC. The inverter system when loaded with single phase induction motors obtained efficiency at a frequency of 50 Hz by 36% and at a frequency of 25 Hz obtained by 70%. Thus, it can be concluded that this single-phase inverter can be used for applications in single phase induction motor speed control.
