Despite its natural beauties, Bali is also well-known for its traditional cultures which can attract many tourists to come. Along with the development of tourism, traditional cultures are performed as tourist attractions. This article analyses the development of omed omedan thug of war in Banjar Kaja, Sesetan Village, Denpasar, as atourist attraction. This tradition has been praticed for many decades yet since 2009, the community adopted it as “Sesetan Heritage Omed-omedan Festival” (SHOOF) with two aims, that is to support the Denpasar as “city of cultural” and to perform the tradition in a more professional festival thus not only to maintain the pride of young generation of the local community to preserve their tradition, but also as a unique tourist attraction in an urban setting. Survei was coducted to get perception of both local people and visitors who watch the festival. The article concludes that Sesetan Heritage Omed-omedan Festival has a great potential to develop as a cultural icon for Denpasar tourism. However, to make it a more an attractive event for visitors management improvementis required.

This research aimed at finding out the condition of tourist attraction of Loloan traditional houses from the internal and external aspects. This study is a descriptive qualitative study using a SWOT analysis. The informants were chosen based on purposive sampling. The results of the internal aspect analysis reveal that Loloan traditional houses are unique and have their own characteristics. Besides, other tourist attractions can support the attractiveness of Loloan traditional houses. They are Makam Keramat Buyut, a sacred cemetery, Baitul Qhadim Mosque, and Ijo Gading River. But, on another side, Loloan traditional houses also posses some weaknesses that need to be improved. Their weaknesses are no an organization manage the tourist attraction as well as the facilities which are still considered lack. The results of external aspect analysis show that Loloan traditional houses bring the possibility for the local community to earn more income and to improve their economic state. It also can be a form of culture conservation. But it cannot be neglected that Loloan traditional houses will disappear one day as most of the local people started to build their houses in modern style. This study aims to describe the efforts of the Culture and Tourism Office in developing the Toba Lake recreation area in Parapat-Simalungun Regency and to identify the driving factors in the development of recreational facilities based on the reference of visitors to Toba Lake in Parapat, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. The respondents in this study amounted to 50 people including the community and tourists who took a recreational tour of Lake Toba Parapat-Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. The tools used to collect data are questionnaires and Likert scale techniques used to analyze and describe research results. he results showed that the factors that led to the development of recreational facilities were based on the reference of visitors to Toba Lake in Parapat, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. The potential of the tourist attraction in Parapat, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra was one of Lake Toba's recreational sites, tourist attraction development in Parapat - Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra, is quite optimal both from its development factors, distance and location, in terms of promotion and processing, and so on. In supporting the interest of tourists to visit recreational attractions based on the reference of visitors to Toba Lake in Parapat, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra, including lodging facilities, restaurants, places of worship that are already strategic and tourist attractions in the mountains. As for the efforts of the Culture and Tourism Office in developing recreational facilities based on the reference of visitors to Toba Lake in Parapat, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra, it has been carried out. The factors that encourage archipelago tourists to come to visit Parapat are facilities that are already quite good. Furthermore, the added value of recreational Lake Toba is the holding of cultural parties such as the Lake Toba party which is held annually so that it is used as one of the recreational areas that can be developed, benefit the government or the local community, create livelihoods if the Lake Toba recreation area is developed, creating comfort with the construction of more complete facilities in Simalungun District of North Sumatra and the presence of transportation facilities that are also very supportive when visiting Lake Toba in Parapat, North Sumatra Regency

This study aims to identify local wisdom in Green Village Gedangsari, Gunungkidul Regency. This research uses qualitative method with combined data collection technique, there are observation, interview, and documentation. Some invention that have been identified as the findings of this research are (1) Tourism development in Green Village Gedangsari; (2) Some of the taboos that local people believe; (3) Local culinary; (4) The place of the sacred; (5) Nyadran and Rosulan Traditions; and (6) 4G development plan by Gedangsari community. Sipiso-piso Waterfall located in Karo District, North Sumatra can be used as a superior attraction because it has great potential to be developed compared to other attractions around Lake Toba because this waterfall is one of the most popular tourist attractions. However, there are several obstacles on the development of Sipiso-piso Waterfall tourism such as tourism stakeholders who do not cooperate well such as the provision of supporting facilities that should be provided by the tour manager, namely the Karo District government instead, provided by the local community. Based on this phenomenon, it is necessary to know the management of Sipiso-piso Waterfall and how much participation of local people in the management of Sipiso-piso Waterfall. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This research aims to To find out how to manage Sipiso-piso waterfall in Karo District, North Sumatra To find out how far the participation of local people in the management of Sipiso-piso waterfall. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and literature. Determination of informants using Purposive Sampling techniques. The results of this research is that the  community in the management of Sipiso-Piso Water Tourism Attraction at the planning stage is at the encouraged participation type, at the community organizing stage is at the spontaneous participation as well as at the mobilization stage, while at the community supervision stage is at the encouraged participation type.   Keywords: participation, development, local community

Vatuvou beach, located in the Village Vatuvou, Liquica District      of East Timor, has the potential to be developed into a tourist attraction, but until now its potential has not fully developed yet. The aim of this study is to determine the potential of Vatuvou Beach, to know how the local community have been involved to develop Vatuvou beach, to formulate the most effective strategies to develop it has a community based tourist attraction. The results of this study indicated that Vatuvou coastal region could be used as a tourist attraction in the District of Liquisa, because it has the existing potential such as beach panorama with sunset, black sandy beaches and under–sea wealth, availability of facilities and infrastructure to support tourism, such as water, electricity, road, telecommunication, public toilets, parking, and accommodation (but still limited). Socio-cultural potential as hospitality of the people in the village of Vatuvou, traditional activities, such as handcrafted, and rituals performed by people in the village of Vatuvou. In addition, the strategic location of the Vatuvou beach easily leads to some nearby tourist attraction, such as lake Maubara, Maubara Fort, historical buildings of Portuguese’s heritage, and souvenir center. The involvement of community participation in the coastal development of Vatuvou has been through the initial proceses, namely planning stage, development and evaluation of activities that have been implemented. Through the description, it can be concluded that the strategy of tourism development of Vatuvou beach can be made by the following procedures (1) Increasing the quality and quantity of human resources in tourism, (2) Inviting foreign or local investors to the potential of the existing tourism sectors, (3) Developing the potential of cultural as tourist attractions, and (4) Improving tourism facilities and infrastructure to support tourism activities in Vatuvou coastal areas.


East Nusa Tenggara Province surrounded by many potentials nature-based attractions, one of them is Mulut Seribu beach, in the Rote Ndao Regency. This beach is one of seven priority tourist attractions by the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government. Local Government initiation is welcomed by the local community and this research aims to create a strategy to develop the Mulut Seribu beach attraction with marine-based tourism to support sustainability. The research type is using descriptive qualitative, with interviewing stakeholders from five key informants living around the tourist attraction namely government representatives, tourists, and the local community. The results showed that according to SWOT analysis Mulut Seribu Beach is among Curve 1, which means the development of this destination still aggressive to be developed with a concentration of development in SO, namely strength and opportunity. This result is shown by the Mulut Seribu festival as a form of coordination between community and government participation in developing marine tourism in Mulut Seribu Beach. Tibu sampi waterfall is a waterfall that has the potentiality and opportunities to be developed into a tourist attraction. However, the development of this waterfall has not been optimally reached. This study aims to determine the development of Tibu Sampi Waterfall as a tourist attraction. This study uses qualitative data with data sources in the form of primary data and secondary data. Data sources are obtained through observation, interview and documentation techniques with the technique of determining individual sample selection. The results of this study indicate that there are internal and external obstacles in the development of Tibu Waterfall as a tourist attraction. The internal obstacles are divided into three, namely the limited capital owned by Gunung Salak village; lack of adequate human resources in the field of tourism; and lack of promotion in the development of tourist attractions. The external obstacle is lack of contributions from investors.  Of the various obstacles faced and slowing down the development of Tibu Waterfall as a tourist attraction, the community must create several efforts including the government or related parties to provide tourism education and training to the local community; to improve tourism products; to disseminate information in the form of brochures and guidebooks; to improve structuring and infrastructure; to cooperate with investors; to make local culture an attraction for tourists;  and to develope tour packages.    Keywords: Study of development, tourist attraction, Gunung Salak Village, Tibu Sampi Waterfall

This article discusses the impact of the management changes ofTanah Lot tourist attraction on community of Beraban village,Tabanan, Bali, and efforts of the new management in realizing Tanah Lot as a sustainable tourist attraction. The research method used is a qualitative method with data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The management changes of Tanah Lot tourist attraction have direct and indirect impacts to the local community. The impacts are divided into three aspects, namely physical, social cultural and economic aspect. Efforts made by the new management in order to realize Tanah Lot includes adding tourist attractions, tourism facilities, distributes the location of trade, organising and supervising activities of the tourism business, and forming a group of merchants as well as establishing good relationship and communication with private land owner. Indicators used as a benchmark is the Magic Pentagon, namely a healthy economy,the welfare of the local community, does not change the natural,healthy culture, and tourist satisfaction.

Alas Kedaton tourist is a natural tourist attraction. The tourist attraction offered such as forests, monkeys and bats in this natural attraction. In the middle of the Alas Kedaton forest there is a Dalem Kahyangan Kedaton temple that is unique. The choice of this location as a place of research is to find out how the management and role of the local community of Kukuh Village in developing Alas Kedaton as a tourist attraction. The research methodology used is this study is a descriptive qualitative research, with observation, interview, literature study and documentation techniques. Data sources are obtained from primary data and secondary data. The theory or concept used is the concept of role, local society, tourist attraction and management. The result of this research is that management in Alas Kelaton tourist attraction involves local communities actively. The involvement and role of the local community of Desa Kukuh is empowered to become a member of the management body, counter staff, janitors, local guides, security officers, Alas Kedaton Trader Group (KPAK) and as well as forming tourism awareness organisations such as tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis). Village of Yehembang Kangin is one of tourism village which has various tourism potential inside which have not been optimized as a tourism destination or tourist attraction. The purpose of this studies to know potential of tourism in the Yehembang Kangin Village Tourism and know the efforts to development of tourism potential in the Yehembang Kangin Tourism Village. The research method used in this research, is a qualitative research, where the qualitative research used, observation, in-depth interview technique and qualitative documents. The concept of tourism supporting components in formulating the existing conditions in the Yehembang Kangin Tourism Village. And data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results of this research is Yehembang Kangin Village have two potensial tourism among others is natural and culture potential tourism and the effort to the development of tourism potential in the Tourism Village Yehembang Kangin there are two aspects is mapping of tourist attractions and local community empowerment in the Village Tourism Yehembang Kangin.
