Subject. The article investigates the basic principles of business valuation and ways to increase it within the development of the production and economic system of an industrial enterprise. Objectives. We focus on examining the possibilities of business valuation and the parties interested in its implementation, consider modern approaches and corresponding methods used in valuation activities, propose directions for increasing the market value of an industrial enterprise, and assess their economic feasibility. Methods. The study rests on the content analysis of available domestic and foreign sources. We employ general scientific methods, i.e. analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction, analogy, and special methods, like empirical, quantitative and qualitative analysis, situational and systems analysis, comparative, financial, and economic analysis. Results. We reveal the need to improve the efficiency of enterprise management in the context of economic instability in the country, resulting in an increase in its market value. We considered an industrial enterprise operating in the construction sector that was seriously affected by the pandemic. Using this case, we demonstrate the implementation of the lean production concept, which has proven to be successful. Conclusions. In the current economic conditions, Russian enterprises are forced to look for new ways of development and to improve the efficiency of business management. The optimal solution for an industrial enterprise can be the ‘lean production’ cost-saving concept. If implemented, the concept shows decent results, strengthens the enterprise’s position in the market, and increases its fair value.

Improvement of modern management systems for industrial enterprises involves the active use of risk management methods that are accompanied by their activities. Issues of production risks and their place in the General enterprise management system are discussed in the article. There is a classification of the main production risks and possible risk management methods applicable in the activities of an industrial enterprise.

The most important characteristic of the economic activity of an industrial enterprise is the level of its financial standing. The higher this level, the more attractive is the company for shareholders, banks, service, raw materials and components buyers and suppliers, the more competitive its products are. In recent years, we have seen an unfavorable business climate both in Russia and around the world, which, on the one hand, forces some companies to cut costs or completely withdraw from the market, and on the other, it fosters companies’ attention to creative function, and not only in relation to the products being created, but also to the enterprise management model, the distribution and use of resources. In this connection, the possibility of using sourcing’s technologies in the issue of improving the financial stability of an industrial enterprise through the restructuring of its distribution model and the use of resources is of interest. To achieve this goal, we have used the sourcing’s maneuver model "higher utilization of production areas by providing outsourcing services". The development of proposals for improving the financial standing of the enterprise was carried out through the application of the "direct-hosting" system. In the present work, the authors developed proposals for improving the financial standing of an industrial enterprise through the application of the sourcing’s maneuver model. The results of this work can be useful for further scientific research in the field of economy of sourcing and development of the "direct-hosting" system. They can also be useful for managers of financial and economic units of large industrial enterprises. The developed proposals for improving the financial standing of an industrial enterprise through sorsing maneuver suggest the prospect of further scientific work in the field of forming methodological approaches for making managerial decisions.

The purpose of the paper is to study the features of the lean production implementation in the dairy industry of Ukraine. Methodology. To achieve the purpose and solve the tasks set in the paper, a system of general and special research methods was used, namely methods of scientific knowledge (scientific abstraction, analysis and synthesis, deduction, generalization) to study the theoretical principles of the lean production implementation in Ukraine’s enterprises, and questionnaire to assess the lean production implementation’s effectiveness in the enterprises of Ukraine’s dairy industry. Results of the survey examine the theoretical and methodological foundations of the “lean production” concept: taking into account all the definitions mentioned above, the following author’s definition of lean production is put forward: lean production is a system of the enterprise, which is constantly improving, aimed at building all processes in a continuous flow of value creation by preventing and eliminating all types of losses, involving staff in teamwork based on project approaches and maintaining safe working conditions in order to create attractive value for the consumer. Methodological support for rapid assessment of the lean production implementation’s effectiveness on the basis of employee surveys has been developed and the efficiency of the lean production implementation at the enterprises of Ukraine’s dairy industry has been assessed. It is concluded about the lack of effectiveness of implementing lean production at three enterprises of Ukraine’s dairy industry. This is due to the short period of the lean production implementation, as Enterprise 1 only started implementation at the end of 2020. Based on the survey and questionnaire of employees and managers of Ukraine’s dairy industry, the main stereotypes related to the implementation of lean production are identified and refuted, and the reasons for the slow and inefficient implementation of lean production are identified. Lean manufacturing cannot be implemented once and for all, it must be done constantly, because lean manufacturing is a tool for gaining a competitive advantage. Scientific novelty: methodological support for rapid assessment of the lean production implementation’s effectiveness has been further developed, which, unlike others, takes into account the peculiarities of the dairy industry and allows to determine problems and prospects for enterprise development on the basis of a questionnaire. A promising direction of research is a more detailed analysis of the “lean production polygon”, which is based on the survey. A more detailed analysis of the underlying three pentagons will reveal problems in the three subsystems of lean production.

In the modern world, the terms enterprise value and valuation are of great importance. Knowledge about how much an enterprise is worth is of fundamental importance for both the owner of that company and investors when negotiating the price of an enterprise at the time of conducting a commercial transaction. The article presents the goals of the company’s valuation and characteristic stages of the company’s life at which such valuation is necessary. The article classifies the methods of enterprise valuation used today. On this basis, the valuation methodology is presented according to the MDI-R concept (Assets, Income, Intellectual Capital-Market), which in a broad spectrum measures the effectiveness of the company’s operations and, in accordance with the current features of good valuation, aims to determine the fair value of the company. The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the need to improve the code of conduct and valuation standards. As part of the implementation of the objective, multi-faceted and complex valuation issues are presented, as well as factors that may distort the determination of fair value. The methodology of the study is based on inferences about the methodology of business valuation, and verification is based on practical examples, by which a hypothesis on the existence of critical elements of valuation is verified that allows the use of broad subjectivity in estimating the value of assets. At the same time, the factors that determine the possibility of the existence of too wide a subjectivity in estimating assets, which is in contradiction with the features of good valuation, are presented. The attempt is made to draw attention to the threats arising from modern business valuation methodologies and their challenges in the future. Additionally, this article offers the authors’ proposed hybrid method MDI-R, which draws from existing solutions to improve their functionality and applicability.

Approaches to the application of methods of system analysis to solve problems related to information security of enterprises in transport, which have a complex IT structure with a large number of components. It is shown that the active expansion of the areas of informatization of the transport industry, especially in the segment of mobile, distributed and wireless technologies, is accompanied by the emergence of new threats to information security. It is shown that in order to build an effective information security system, the selection and implementation of adequate technical means of protection should be preceded by a stage of description, analysis and modeling of threats, vulnerabilities, followed by calculation of risks for IS and determining the optimal strategy for information security system. After evaluating the different NIB options according to several criteria, a decision is made: if the recommendations coincide, the optimal solution is chosen with greater confidence. If there is a contradiction of recommendations, the final decision is made taking into account its advantages and disadvantages, for example, the strategy of information security system development is chosen, which turned out to be optimal for at least two criteria. If different NIB development strategies are obtained for all three criteria, it is necessary to vary the values of pessimism-optimism in the Hurwitz criterion or change the data, for example, about possible threats to IP or automated enterprise management system. An algorithm for modeling the decision-making process for selecting the optimal strategy for managing investment design components of the information security system for the transport business entity is proposed.
