The loss of country’s socio-economic development stability puts on the agenda the problem of finding solutions contributing to the maintenance of Russian households’ welfare. The authors believe that these solutions lie in the broader area than applying various instruments of monetary support. The most effective solutions are related to the actualization of own resources of households that can act as a safety margin as well as a source of social development. The attempt to evaluate the households’ resource provision and highlight the significance of each resource enabling or creating barriers to the growth of households’ welfare is made in this article. On the basis of received conclusions social policy areas directed at preserving or enhancing the welfare are defined.

Daily allowances and invalidity pensions were studied in order to identify morbidity differences between different occupational groups. The highest age-standardized number of daily allowances was found in ‘industry’ (males 257/1 000, females 373/1 000), and the lowest in administration (males 116/1000, females 170/1 000). The greatest number of new invalidity pensions for males was also in industry (20.3/1 000), and was 2.9 times as high as in administration. The greatest number of invalidity pensions to females was found in agriculture (18.3/1 000), and was 2.8 times as high as administration. These invalidity pension and daily allowance data measure the morbidity, which is closely associated with socio-economic development and the advances made in the insurance system of the country. Occupational differences in invalidity pensions and daily allowances can be affected by differences in working conditions or by differences in social conditions and life style. The morbidity differences are also affected by selection and survival processes. However, there were also real morbidity differences between occupational groups even after adjusting for bias and errors.

Recent global economic and social challenges confirm the existence of a number of systemic problems in socio-economic relations. Thus, the spread of the concept of sustainable development, which combines social, environmental and economic aspects, became a characteristic feature of the global development trend in recent decades. Highly developed world countries are currently implementing the principles of social economy (a special state management model for socio-economic development) in their policies with the aim to overcome abovementioned challenges and to reach the millennium development goals. The implementation of these principles, realized by the state management in these countries during the last decades, enables us to evaluate the available results and highlight the characteristics of individual national business models of social economy. The study of the most important social and economic global indicators by means of modeling, clustering and regression analysis made it possible not only to emphasize the most important indicators characterizing socio-economic development, but also, taking into account the establishment of interrelationships between social and economic parameters, to single out separate groups of countries (exclusively the European region has been selected for the research) united by common principles and methods of social and economic policy and its implementation outcomes. The obtained results allow us to predict further trends of socio-economic development of separate groups of countries taking into account the available material and technical resources, the situation on the labor market and the level of competitiveness of national labor resources, the features of the functioning of the monetary and tax systems, etc. Given the results of clustering, it was possible to identify both specific models for socio-economic development specific to certain groups and their inherent tendencies of functioning. Besides, a set of specific methods and mechanisms of government control which are common and the best suitable for these systems is determined.

The article considers the general principles and prospects of transport logistics in Ukraine, defines the directions of development and measures for its improvement. The main problems and challenges that hinder the growth and efficient operation of transport logistics are highlighted. The analysis of cargo transportation by types of transport was carried out, and the index of logistics efficiency of Ukraine was determined. It is concluded that gradual, purposeful integration of the transport complex of Ukraine into the world transport system through the development of international transport corridors can provide not only additional revenues to the budget, but also stimulate investment activity, improvement of transportation technologies, transport infrastructure of the country as a whole and economic development of the regions.

AbstractOur study area is from an early agricultural archaeological site named “El Tolar” (1st to 9th century AD), located in Tafí Valley (Tucumán, northwest Argentina). The objective was to identify geochemical signatures generated by the sustained agrarian use of soils. Chemical and pedological studies were made in different archaeological contexts. Physical and chemical features, such as bulk density, pH, organic and inorganic phosphorus, and available copper, manganese and iron, were taken into account. The results suggested that a buried paleosol identified was contemporary with the occupation of the site. It also showed characteristics clearly related to pre-Hispanic agrarian production. The concentrations of organic phosphorus and iron in agricultural soils probably reflect the use of fertilizers. The application of geoscience techniques allowed us to obtain important information on their behaviour and socio-economic development. This paper constitutes the first pedogeochemical approach to the study of Argentinean pre-Hispanic agricultural soils.

Creating competitive municipalities, as well as other entities, requires the ability of modern and innovative management, leading to the formation and transformation ofknowledge into new products, technologies or services. These skills decide today about the success of the market. Innovative transport solutions constitute a source of socio-economic development of not only municipalities but also the region and the country. This is particularly important during the intensive extension of an existing transport system and mounting congestion and increasingly growing environmental pollution. The author’s own research on Polish municipalities has shown how local authorities perceive the innovation and perform transport investments in this context.

This lecture explores the extent to which Ghana has paid sufficient strategic attention to the development of skills, competencies and capacities which would propel consistent socio-economic development. It argues that many initiatives and efforts have been made in the area of education. However these have been unfocused, disparate, not strategic and wasteful. Five policy and implementation gaps are identified and five recommendations are proffered for urgent consideration by policy makers.
