AbstractThis review discusses a number of recent publications in the methodology of empirical social research. With one exception, all publications reviewed are in German and the point of view governing their evaluation is their significance for the teaching of sociology. By this we are referring to, on the one hand, their suitability for integrating instruction in empirical research methods into sociological curricula generally and, on the other side, to the question if the measure of consideration given in them to techniques of learning is sufficient to make them commentable for classroom use.

The size of the fly population at the time of Salted Catfish production (SC) is one of theimportant problems that will have an impact on the health and deterioration of fish quality, as well ashaving an impact on socio-economic conditions. Flies are mechanical vectors for the transmission ofdiseases carried through microorganisms Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus). To deal with this problemproducers use chemical insecticides which are sometimes used at inappropriate dosages, so that they willadversely affect human health and the environment. therefore it is used by Fragrant Pandan Leaves(FPL) which have chemicals as poisons for vectors and safe for humans. This study aims to identify thecontamination of S.aureus bacteria in SC from Penyasawan Village, to analyze the effectiveness of FPLextracts in reducing the number of flies in the process of drying the SC on product acceptance. Usingexperimental research methods, with RAL, it was carried out at the UPTD laboratory for fish diseasesand the water quality of the Kampar Regency Fisheries Service. Data were analyzed using the One-WayANOVA statistical test. The results showed that, for the most part Salted Catfish from PenyasawanVillage is identified contamination of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Pandan Wangi Leaf Extract caneffectively reduce the density of flies that perch during drying of Salted Catfish with the highestconcentration having the greatest resistance to the flies of flies. Salted Catfish soaked in Pandan Wangileaves are in demand by consumers

The use of triangulated research designs is becoming increasingly popular, particularly in applied sociology and evaluation research. There is a substantial amount of literature on triangulated research methods, particularly in the fields of social research methods and nursing. This paper examines the uses of the concept of triangulation in applied sociological research. It does so first by reviewing uses of the term in various applied contexts. We then turn to whether and how the information derived from multiple methods is actually integrated by the applied researcher. Finally, we discuss the importance of triangulation for the quality of work in the field of applied sociology.

This paper analyses the possibility of an analogous application of Art. 378 of the Law of Contract and Torts (LCT) to other similar (identical) claims. The aim of the research is to try to answer the central question of whether it is necessary to update the provisions of the LCT regarding the one-year Statute of limitations in accordance with modern trends in terms of the scope of claims that should become Statute-barred within this period. In order to answer this question, scientific research methods, that is, techniques are used, such as the dogmatic-normative, historical-legal, and comparative-legal one, content analysis and a questionnaire. This apparatus is used within the study of legislation, case law and legal literature, as well as in empirical research. Knowing the scope of claims that become Statute-barred in a year is not only important for theoretical analysis, but is also of practical importance for court actions , as well as for consumers.

This article examines the development of empirical social research in Portugal over about a century and its relation to the early institutionalization of sociology at the tail end of that period. Relying on new empirical data, coupled with a critical reading of the main sources on the topic, it brings to light some epistemic invariants in a disparate body of research, acknowledging the initial persistence of Le Play-inspired as well as properly Le Playsian research methods. Furthermore, it identifies the general continuation of a substantial concern with the (physical and then moral) condition of rural and industrial workers, leading to a disclosure of the political-economic and governmental roots of the social research in question. From a historical sociology perspective, the article explores the relation between state governmentalization and authoritarian rule, on the one hand, and the development of the social sciences, on the other. From a history of science perspective, it acknowledges the continuous use of the same research methods to carry out seemingly incommensurable social research programmes and the later pursuit of a properly sociological research programme that fell back on conflicting methodological and theoretical approaches. In broader terms, the article aims to put forward a historical sociology of theoretical approaches, research methods, and scientific concepts that will hopefully contribute to a clearer understanding of their respective fields of application.

The authors substantiate the relevance of the study of the processes of digitalization of modern society. They show that the main factor of transformation in all spheres is information technology, which is the driver of the next industrial revolution. The researchers prove that at the current stage of social development the level of ICT development is one of the key indicators of the competitiveness of national economies. The article presents a number of examples of developed and developing countries where programs and strategies for the development of digital economies are already being implemented. The authors review similar programs and projects implemented in Belarus, analyze the experience of the Belarusian state in the development of infrastructure conditions and the legal framework on the way to the creation of an IT-country. The thesis that the process of digitalization of the economy, society and the state, on the one hand, opens up Windows of opportunity and growth for economic and social actors; on the other hand, it leads to the emergence of new, as yet unexplored, risks and threats. The advantages of sociological science as a tool to explore these new opportunities and risks based on the assessment and expectations of the population are shown. The sociological concepts "standard of living" and "quality of life" are considered and compared, the authors offer their interpretations of these notions. They prove that modern rapidly digitizing communities have access to the latest technologies and the ability to use them become powerful factors affecting the living standards and quality of life of individuals. The scientists investigate a number of contradictions preventing improvement of quality of life in the conditions of increasing digitalization of social processes, namely: unevenness of development of ICT in different spheres of activity of society and higher rates of development of technologies in comparison with the speed of their development by the population. On the base of analysis of statistical information and sociological research data the authors point out the factors reducing the digital readiness of the population including insufficient computer and digital literacy of the population, psychological conservatism, fear of facing threats to information security, lack of confidence in the usefulness and practical applicability of new knowledge. The researchers also formulate prospects of further research within the given problematics.

Objective: To present the analysis of the bibliographic collection of the Universidad de Granada (UGR) taking as a reference the teaching guides of the Degree in Psychology during the academic year 2019/2020. Method: An analysis of the bibliographic collection of the teaching guides of the Degree in Psychology of the UGR was carried out. Documents were analysed by title, year, document categorisation, document type and subject data. Information on availability and the possibility of consulting the document online was also included. The search was carried out in the automated online catalogue of the UGR Library. Results: A total of 1,775 bibliographic references were contained in the teaching guides of the 49 subjects (distributed among six departments). A total of 76.8% were considered complementary by the teachers and 89.2% of the proposed documents were books. The UGR libraries had 81.8% of the references, while the Psychology library had 65.8% of the material. 24.4% of the references had a more up-to-date edition in the library.
