Counsellors routinely work in situations with students, parents and colleagues, where they need to use interpersonal helping and counselling skills. This function has been recently compounded by the emergence of multiple demands which place a new set of challenges on counsellors. Given that many counsellor training programs do not include time-limited counselling techniques, counsellors have traditionally drawn on more problem-focussed, longer-term theories when helping others. This has not always been appropriate or successful. Traditional counselling theories suggest that only highly trained counsellors should be involved in interpersonal helping, simultaneously placing a major emphasis on the clinical nature of problems. This paper presents a relatively new approach to counselling that does not delve intrusively into the past, and is not restricted to professional counsellors. Solution-focussed brief counselling techniques lend themselves well to the education context, and with appropriate attention, can be utilised by counsellors who will become more intentional and f acilitative in their daily interactions.

Learning by doing using 3D worlds is a relatively new approach for teachers and students. To date, a limited number of teachers have had the time or money to take university courses on this or otherwise develop in-world teaching that fully takes advantage of the unique opportunities virtual worlds offer. In this chapter, the authors will review the various virtual worlds teachers have been collaborating on to teach different subjects to different people in different languages. The authors will also detail the twists and turns they've encountered in their own attempts to teach together in-world. Finally, the authors will look at new developments on the horizon and how they might impact what is already happening.

The literature on clinical training lacks identifications of the factors that are most relevant in training programs; accordingly, the main aim of this work is to fill this research gap by assessing which factors that trainers, trainees and psychotherapists consider most relevant in psychotherapy training programs. A secondary aim is to identify whether these factors differ among trainers, trainees and psychotherapists. An ad hoc questionnaire was created and administered at 24 psychotherapy schools from 14 institutions; the sample included 641 trainees, 172 trainers and 218 psychotherapists of various theoretical orientations. The questionnaire included 63 items and used a 5-point Likert scale. An exploratory factor analysis was completed to identify the latent structure. The reliability of the dimensions was then checked. Finally, an analysis of variance and a multivariate analysis of variance were completed to achieve the study’s aims. Four factors emerged from the study’s results: trainers’ relational characteristics, supervision, transmission of clinical know-how, and theoretical background and technical support. All these factors displayed acceptable reliability and internal consistency. Moreover, their relative rankings varied based on the participants’ roles and theoretical backgrounds. This study’s results indicate that the new instrument’s psychometric qualities are acceptable. It thus could be used to develop a new approach to psychotherapy training, as this study’s results regarding trainees’ needs underline the differences between trainees’ perceptions of those needs, as compared to trainers’ and psychotherapists’ perceptions.

The computer inclination (CI) of 881 eleventh-grade students and of their 181 teachers in relation to their Science-Technology-Society (STS) views was assessed in randomly selected high schools in British Columbia using a two-part questionnaire: a short, modified version of the Survey of Attitudes Toward Learning About and Working With Computers for the CI, and a condensed form of the Views on Science-Technology-Society (VOSTS) Inventory for the STS views. Significant differences between the computer inclinations of non-STS and STS students and between the STS views of non-STS and STS teachers and students in the “attitude” category were found, but there were no differences between other subgroups on these dimensions. Computer Inclination Indices (CII) and Science/Technology Indices (STx) have been defined and used for the elucidation of possible correlations between the CIIs and the STxs. It is argued that the CIs and STS views of both students and teachers should be assessed and taken into consideration by the educational policy makers and developers of future science curricula and teacher training programs, if the goals of the currently sought reforms in science education are to be attained.

There has been an increasing interest in e-learning in teacher training at universities during the last ten years. With the developing technology, educational methods have differed as well as many other processes. Firstly, a definition on e-learning as a new approach should be given. E-learning could shortly be defined as a web-based educational system on platform with Internet, Intranet or computer access. In this model, the lessons planned were simulations and software’s for students on polymers and metals. Nine experiments were designed on the topic. Students were interviewed and administered laboratory attitude scales at the end of the experiments.  The study concluded that the experiments in the new model were appropriate to teacher training programs and could successfully be administered to large groups.

Curriculum evaluation is a process carried out to decide the effectiveness of training programs. In this process, the strengths and aspects of the training programs that are open to improvement are emphasized. Therefore, curriculum evaluation studies are an important part of curriculum development. In this respect, it is important to consider the research studies on curriculum evaluation studies together in order to develop curriculum. This study aims to review the postgraduate theses completed on the evaluation of curricula in Turkey between 2007 and 2019 according to several variables and to determine the research trend in this field. The method of the research was formed by systematic review. In this context, 586 postgraduate theses written on curriculum evaluation were reviewed. It was determined that the theses showed a balanced distribution according to years and were generally at master’s level. The postgraduate theses were mainly based on quantitative research methods, and in recent years, there has been a tendency towards qualitative and mixed-method studies. Questionnaires and interviews were used in the theses mostly prepared in accordance with the survey model and the data were collected from teachers and students. In the one-fifth of the theses on the evaluation of curricula which were examined within the scope of this research (105 theses), it was determined that curriculum evaluation models were taken into consideration and that the most preferred model was Stufflebeam’s CIPP model. Following this model, Erden’s "Element-Oriented Curriculum Evaluation Model" and Tyler’s "Objective-Centered Evaluation Model" were also preferred frequently.
