We explore our teaching of Biographical Explorations of Teaching and Learning, a Curriculum and Instruction Masters course in the Faculty of Education at Memorial University in which we develop creative and imaginative thinking and learning amongst educators. We invite students into a multi-modal exploration of their lives as teachers and learners via readings, visual art, drama, music, literary writing, and media pieces that explore themes in teaching and learning. Students think critically about how narratives work within personal/professional and societal cultural contexts. They learn about and engage in creative ways of telling a story. In this paper we critically reflect on the affordances and challenges of this approach to arts-informed critical graduate pedagogy.

Since the inception of Pragmatics as an independent approach to meaning has independent linguistic study, the approach to meaning has encountered an enormous change. Meaning has been perceived beyond the sentence level. The aim of this paper was to do a pragmatic analysis of selected obituaries in Nigerian newspapers; Nigerian Tribune, The Nation and The Punch. These papers were purposively selected because obituaries were regularly published and publicized through them in a mournful manner and this called for a critical linguistic study by analyzing the mournful use of language with a view to finding out their effects on the decoders. The study of language has been extended significantly beyond mere description of linguistic properties to the various ways which individual communicators convey meanings in different socio-cultural contexts. The theoretical framework for this study is pragmatics. This is because pragmatics has been able to account for social meanings and give new insights to the understanding of literary texts and thus, helping in formulating strategies for the teaching and learning of language. Three Nigerian newspapers namely Nigerian Tribune, The Nation and the Punch were purposively selected for data collection. Relevant texts on obituaries were extracted from them and were critically analyzed for the purpose of this study. It was found out that relatives and friends of the deceased publicized the death of the deceased as memories and sympathy for the departed souls. It is recommended that obituaries should be used for the teaching and learning of English as a Second Language because funerals and obituaries are a significant aspect of African culture.

The aim of this study is to determine the usefulness of Culturally Responsive Pictorial Module of Nature Tie-Dye Batik Craft for teaching and learning the topic ‘Batik Pelangi’ in Visual Art Education (VAE). The pictorial module was developed using the ADDIE Model that was supported by Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) – Scaffolding by Lev Vygotsky (1978). This study uses the Design Development Research (DDR) approach. The Pictorial Module was evaluated by two expert panels which is one experienced VAE school teacher and one Visual Art senior lecturer at a local university. A purposive sampling consisting of 29 VAE students and one VAE teacher were used in this research to measure their acceptance using the module. Both the responding groups of students and VAE teacher provided positive feedbacks toward learning and teaching using the module. Based on the findings, the Pictorial Module is relevant and appropriate to be implemented at secondary school level for art education in Malaysia.

AbstractTo uncover the causes that give rise to a lack of student interest in participating in language activities. To uncover strategies to increase student interest in participating in language activities in Arabic Language Study Program Faculty of Education and Teaching in IAIN Bengkul5.In this study, researchers used a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection methods for this study by observation, interviews and documents. Language activities include teaching and learning activities every Wednesday, Weekly Arabic activities, vocabulary sharing activities, lectures, dramas. Lack of a clear curriculum led to the failure to achieve the objectives of this activity, the lack of relationship between teachers and students, the relationship between students and the students because many students does not make affect other students, the lack of discipline in the MLA, no media to learn.Key Word: Enthusiasm of students; Language activity; Teaching Arabic

AbstractThis review traces the history of research on the teaching and learning of nature of scientific knowledge (NOSK), and its implications for curriculum and instruction. Initially, the complex rubric of NOSK is clearly conceptualized, while recognizing that there is no singularly accepted definition. As part of this conceptualization NOSK is distinguished from the body of scientific knowledge and science practices/inquiry, the latter of which is often conflated with NOSK. The empirical research on NOSK related to teaching, learning, and assessment is briefly reviewed, followed by a discussion of the challenges that teachers face and a delineation of research foci that can help alleviate teachers’ challenges. Finally, a variety of important questions yet to be answered are delineated and explained.

This case study delineates changes enacted in the cultural program for beginning-level Spanish language students at a private, faith-based university. Given the restrictions of the pandemic insofar as virtual teaching and learning, as well as the national and international context of racial strife and inequities, the instructors took the opportunity to utilize antiracist pedagogy in order to reach the goals of meaningful content and measurable student outcomes. One of the General Education learning outcomes demonstrates how well students understand the “complex issues faced by diverse groups in global and/or cross-cultural contexts.” Within the context of Latin America and the Latina/Latino experience in the United States, the assignments focus on the intersections of race and gender as they relate to cultural expressions, ensuring that the approach does not obfuscate contributions nor realities of people of color.

This chapter presents a review of important concepts for assessing creative work as noted in both the general literature and work in music teaching and learning. Definitions are established for terms such as “creativity,” “creative potential,” “naïve versus expert,” “person, product, process and place,” and “convergent versus divergent thinking”, and “creative achievement.” A case is made for the distinction between these and other key terms in the literature. The notions of levels of creative work is sstressed. Past research studies in the assessment of creative potential are reviewed including a summary of all published work using the Measures of Creative Thinking in Music (MTCM). Related work in psychology and directions for future study are noted.

Critical studies of Cyprian Norwid’s writing, just like the scholarship on the literature of Polish Romanticism, focus mostly on the religious, philosophical, ironic and aesthetic aspects of his works. The question of humour in Norwid’s literary output still has not been extensively examined. The paper analyzes Norwid’s comical works. In his early masterpieces, published between 1842 and 1852, comic elements were almost absent, but after his trip to the United States an important change can be noticed in his way of writing, and humour becomes a key elelement of his literary writing and visual art. It can be argued that his diffi cult American experiences (alienation, struggle with the new language, desperate attempts to fi nd work) changed Norwid’s perception of himself as an artist and taught him to look at his art from a distance.

This chapter opens a critical dialogue about the relationship between technology and the teaching and learning of music, with key emphasis on notions of power and choice. The chapter’s discussions revolve around technology as provision for (1) access to the musical world as sound through digital forms and formats, (2) greater opportunities for the most basic beginner in music to explore and experiment with sound, (3) wide/r choice and variety in listening, performing, and creating for both the “trained” and “untrained” musician, (4) compressed time and space in musical experiences and environments, and (5) questioning what constitutes musicality, a musician, and skill acquisition. Music educators need to draw closer links between the widening gap of school music with learners’ daily musical-technological experiences and become more cognizant of the multimedia and multidisciplinary space that the digital native learner is engulfed in, so as to further notions of creative work within the music classroom that might include these experiences.

<p><em>Abstract</em><strong> - The presence of Early Childhood Education (ECE) tutor in Cibitung Tengah Village Tenjolaya District Bogor Regency is really needed for early childhood in order to become a guide in the ECE institutions. The problem occurred is that the average education level of ECE tutor is diverse, from Middle School, High School, Associate Degree, and Bachelor Degree. In this condition, we can say that those ECE tutors had not had the knowledge and insight about the ECE, namely the 2013 Curriculum, the ECE concept, and the learning devices. Training, along with the research about the role of those training itself, are need to be done in order to answer this question for increasing the knowledge and insight of ECE tutor using action research method. The results showed the enhancement of conducted training, including the enhancement of interest and motivation to develop their knowledge and insight about the ECE. Extended with the existence of WhatsApp group as a platform for communication between ECE tutors and UNJ researchers in the efforts to enhance the professionalism of ECE tutors, in the context of mentoring, ECE Tutors in the Cibitung Tengah, Tenjolaya Village were also involved in the learning devices production training in order to apply the religious moral concept to the ECE in the teaching and learning process at the UNJ and also to observe Ceria Daycare of the Department of ECE, Faculty of Education, UNJ.</strong></p><p><strong>Keyword - </strong>Early Childhood Education (ECE), 2013 Curriculum, Learning Devices</p>

Кандинского городская тема представляет еще много возможностей для изучения средств художественной выразительности и развития его творческого метода. В результате анализа произведений разных лет в контексте биографии и мировоззрения художника автор статьи раскрывает развитие московской темы в искусстве В.В. Кандинского. Особое внимание уделено его московским картинам Москва I , или Москва. Красная площадь , Москва. Зубовская площадь и др. Как будто предчувствуя скорую разлуку с любимым городом навсегда, он хотел запечатлеть его в своих работах и в памяти. The article is devoted to the work of a Russian artist and visual art theorist who was at the origin of abstractionism Vasily Kandinsky. The author focuses on paintings dedicated to the city. In contrast to the most studied powerful abstract works of V.V. Kandinsky, the urban theme still presents many opportunities for studying the means of artistic expression and developing his creative method. As a result of the analysis of works from different years in the context of the artists biography and worldview, the author of the article reveals the development of the Moscow theme in the art of V.V. Kandinsky. Special attention is paid to his Moscow paintings Moscow I, or Moscow. Red square, Moscow. Zubovskaya square and others.
