The study sought to examine the differential effect of social commerce drivers on social commerce acceptance in the hotel industry. The study was driven by the need to elevate the usage of social networks from mere communication tools to business platforms that can be used for trade and commerce. In developing social commerce drivers, the study examined and unified nine previous theories of technology adoption. A positivist, quantitative methodology was adopted in this study. Data was analysed using a structural equation modelling (SEM) procedure. The study confirmed that all the five drivers namely, utility, simplicity, intrinsic, social and infrastructural, were statistically significant in driving social commerce acceptance. The most driving force was the infrastructural driver which entails availability of hardware, software and support systems. The study therefore concluded that the all-inclusive approach to social commerce drivers adopted in this study explains 58% of variance in social commerce acceptance. Thus, the study recommends the enhancement of social commerce acceptance through effective manipulation of the social commerce acceptance drivers.

Abstract:Objective:The quality of life (QOL) of patients with schizophrenia has been found to be positively correlated with the social network and empowerment, and negatively correlated with stigma and depression. However, little is known about the way these variables impact on the QOL. The study aims to test the hypothesis that the social network, stigma and empowerment directly and indirectly by contributing to depression influence the QOL in patients with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders.Method:Data were collected on demographic and clinical variables, internalized stigma, perceived devaluation and discrimination, empowerment, control convictions, depression and QOL. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was applied to examine the impact of the above-mentioned constructs on QOL.Results:The influences of the social network, stigma, empowerment and depression on QOL were supported by the SEM. A poor social network contributed to a lack of empowerment and stigma, which resulted in depression and, in turn, in poor QOL. Interestingly, however, the social network and stigma did not show a direct effect on QOL.Conclusions:Following a recovery approach in mental health services by focusing on the improvement of the social network, stigma reduction and especially on the development of personal strength has the potential to reduce depression in patients with psychosis and improving their QOL.

Purpose: The study is an attempt to elaborate on students' development explicitly, understanding and practices of Islamic Moderation Personality (IMP) in Malaysian Higher Learning Institution (MHLI). The measurement of the development of their understanding, especially in term of its representation of IMP is underlined. Based on this measurement, personal conceptual beliefs, understanding principles in life and the manifestation of IMP able to make a person different compared to others. In this article, the cause of differences is measured by comparing the intensity of IM practices and the manifestation types and patterns.  Methodology: The method used in this study is a quantitative methodology, and by using the questionnaires, the survey has been conducted to 508 respondents in six MHLIs. The data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) method with the help of AMOS software version 23.  Results: The survey administered to the students of MHLI showed a higher level of IMP manifestation expressed by their self-conceptual understanding and attitudinal paradigm through attitude to Allah SWT, attitude to own-self, and attitude to others. These strongly contributed to self-satisfaction personality in achieving awareness, perfection, and reasonable state of balanced and robust willingness. Simultaneously, item practices acted as a mediator between Islamic moderation conceptual paradigm and its manifestation practices.  Implications: The finding provides a foundation for further research in IMP manifestation, both as a general principle in life and specific domains such as religion, education, and socialization practices.Hence, IM as a complete balanced system in life should be adopted and practiced accurately and precisely according to the revelation sources.

This study examines the antecedents of social commerce intention by conceptualizing a model that includes two exogenous variables; relationship quality and social support, and an endogenous variable; social commerce, along with a mediation effect of relationship quality and moderation effect of cultures. This research model is tested by survey data collected in the United States and Korea, analyzed by a structural equation model. The results reveal that relationship quality generates the social commerce intention through commitment, satisfaction and trust, and becomes a maiden study with its mediating effect on social commerce intention. Social commerce intention is highly representative of social sharing and social shopping on social media. The social support is measured through emotional and informational support, proving to be a stronger predictor of relationship quality and social commerce intention. In addition, social support articulates differences in respect to the cultural differences. The model offers valuable insights to researchers and practitioners that aims to improve social commerce intention.

The relationships between social axioms, general beliefs that people hold about the social world, and values, defined as desirable goals for life, were examined in five cultural groups. Results show that the correlations between social axioms and Schwartz's (1992) values are generally low, suggesting that they represent two distinct types of construct. Based on a structural equation modelling approach, results further show that generally speaking, the five axiom dimensions are related to the value types in a meaningful and interpretable manner, and that these relationships are generally similar across the five cultural groups. Implications of these results and directions for future research are discussed. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

The urban transportation system impacts the sustainable development of a country. Ride sourcing is a transportation model that operates under the notion of sharing economy. This study attempts to identify the changes in travel patterns of the users, particularly female users and their access to space. Focusing on how for the women in Lahore, the mobility has changed? The data for this research has been collected from passengers and drivers of ride-sourcing in Lahore through structured questionnaires. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to do the econometric analysis of consumers and drivers. Main findings indicate that for females, there is a significant shift in travel patterns from conventional modes (family car, public transportation) towards ride-sourcing. The results indicate that Uber and Careem has improved mobility as women feel secure in ride-sourcing services compared to public transportation. The female population of Lahore have started taking more trips because of car availability. The paper also tries to calculate the carbon emissions of ride-sourcing. The increasing number of cars is contributing to the city's worsening air pollution as the concept of 'one person in one car' prevails. The social impacts are positive, where women have become more mobile and independent because of app-based transportation.

PurposeCoffee in capsules consumers’ behaviour depends not only on the products’ attributes, but also the consequences perceived by them and the alignment with their values. This paper aims to investigate the impacts of the Attributes of coffees in capsules on the consequences perceived by consumers concerning their consumption and the effects of these Consequences on consumers’ Values.Design/methodology/approachThis study developed a scale for assessing the perception of consumers of coffee in capsules about Attributes, Consequences and Values (A-C-V) regarding its consumption. A link to this survey’s electronic questionnaire was posted on the social networks Facebook and Peabirus. This research sample is for convenience and accessibility and has 213 consumers of coffee in capsules. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was the statistical method used for data analysis.FindingsAttributes have two sub-dimensions (Own attributes and Functional attributes), while Consequences have three sub-dimensions (Handling Benefits, Rational Benefits, Convenience Benefits) and Values have just one dimension. Also, SEM has shown a statistically significant positive relationship between A-C-V perceived by consumers of coffee in capsules. These results confirm the hypotheses developed based on the Means-End Chain Theory (MEC).Originality/valueAs academic contributions, this paper develops a structural model that quantitatively demonstrates the impacts of Attributes perceived by consumers of coffee in capsules on the Consequences of consumption and its effects on their Values. The present survey is the first in the literature that uses structural models contemplating A-C-V. As managerial contributions, this survey provides relevant information to the decision-making of several stakeholders of the chain of coffee in capsules.
