<strong><strong></strong></strong><strong><em>Background:</em></strong><em> Type 2 diabetes is a disorder that is influenced by multifactors, involving both genetic and environmental factors. <strong>Purpose:</strong> This study aims to find a large estimate of hereditary risk factors for type 2 events by controlling controlling for other confounding variables. <strong>Methods:</strong> This study used a cross sectional design analysis model estimation with the main variable heredity. The research sample of at least 249 respondents. Measurement and observation of research variables using interview and observation methods. Multivariate analysis of estimation models uses multiple logistic regression tests and calculated attributable fraction percent (AF%). <strong>Results:</strong> The results of the final multivariate modeling analysis showed heredity was associated with the incidence of type 2 Diabetes (p value 0,000), after being controlled by confounding factors for BMI, occupation, age and central obesity with ORadjusted 19.8; 95% CI: 1,911-9,459). Calculation of the potential impact size (AF%) results of the analysis obtained 48.15%. <strong>Conclusion:</strong> The estimated magnitude of respondents who have inherited risk factors is 19.8 times more likely to have diabetes than those without heredity after being controlled by confounders of BMI, occupation and age and central obesity. People with Type 2 Diabetes who have a history of diabetes, live a healthy lifestyle, so that around 48.15% of diabetes can be prevented through hereditary factors.</em>

Background: In the past decade it has become obvious that the prevalence of type 2 diabetes is increasing very rapidly. Unless necessary and appropriate action is taken, it is predicted that there will be at least 350 million people in the world with type 2 diabetes by the year 2030. The aim of the study was to assess the risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) among fisherman community in Beypore area of Kozhikode.The objectives of the study were to identify the total number of participants with abnormal random blood sugar among Beypore fisherman community of Calicut; to identify risk factors associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus patients among Beypore fisherman community of Calicut. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted among fisherman colony of Beypore area, Calicut. All the eligible participants according to inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in the study. An pretested and piloted Finnish Diabetes questionnaire modified according to local settings was used to map the screened participants. As the first step, history and basic anthropometry measurements was taken. Then each participant underwent physical examination. Further random blood glucose was calculated using strip glucometric method. Once confirmed, the treatment for type 2 diabetes was started. Results: Overall prevalence was found to be 29.23%. Prevalence of T2DM was significantly associated with age i.e. as age increases there is the risk of developing T2DM and p value was found to be significant. Conclusions: Age, educational status, central obesity and addiction are major risk factors for type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Background: Studies show that diabetes mellitus is the greatest lifestyle risk factor for dementia. Appropriate management and treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus could prevent the onset and progression of mild cognitive impairment to dementia. MoCA test is high sensitivity with mild dementia but it have not been used and studied widespread in Vietnam. Aim: 1. Using MoCA and MMSE to diagnose dementia in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. 2. Assessment of the relationship between dementia and the risk factors. Methods: cross-sectional description in 102 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) were used to assess cognitive function. The diagnosis of dementia was made according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Results: The average value for MoCA in the group of patients with dementia (15.35 ± 2.69) compared with non-dementia group (20.72 ± 4.53). The sensitivity and specificity of MoCA were 84.8% and 78.3% in identifying individuals with dementia, and MMSE were 78.5% and 82.6%, respectively. Using DSMIV criteria as gold standard we found MoCA and MMSE were more similar for dementia cases (AUC 0.871 and 0.890). The concordance between MoCA and MMSE was moderate (kappa = 0.485). When considering the risk factors, the education,the age, HbA1c, dyslipidemia, Cholesterol total related with dementia in the type 2 diabetes. Conclusion: MoCA scale is a good screening test of dementia in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.When compared with the MMSE scale, MoCA scale is more sensitive in detecting dementia. Background: India has been recognized as the diabetes capital of the world by the year of 2025 Hypertension is a signicant danger factor for cardiovascular infection, stroke and ischemic coronary illness. Objective: The aim of this paper is prevalence of hypertension amid patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus- at a tertiary level hospital in central India. Methods: Present work is hospital based cross-sectional study was conduct in Chirayu Medical College & Hospital, Bhopal. The study population consisted of total 300 subjects. Data obtained directly from patients and patients medical les, and the following data were included in the study . Results: The results showed that the after using chi-square test we found that hypertension was signicantly higher p value(<0.05) among female patients (69%),patients with long duration diabetes (77%)10 years and more, also it was signicantly higher among patients with current smokers (69%). Conclusion: In this study the prevalence of hypertension is increasing in patient with T2DM. Hypertension was the most danger factor for micro vascular and macro vascular confusion of T2DM.

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) cases increased by 776 cases from the previous year based on data from Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Regional Hospital. There are many changes that occur in the life of people with type 2 diabetes, such as stress, anxiety, anger, and feeling useless. These problems can be minimized if the patient also has the knowledge and ability as well as good self-efficacy to manage the disease by doing self-care. Aim: To analyze the factors associated with the self-efficacy of type 2 DM patients. Methods: a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach. The purposive sampling technique for Type 2 DM patients at Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda, totaling 60 respondents from September-October 2018. Results: showed a significant relationship between duration of suffering and self-efficacy of DM patients with a p value <0.001, and there was no significant relationship between age, sex, education level, knowledge, motivation and self-efficacy with a p value> 0.001. Conclusion: The duration of type 2 diabetes is related to the patient's self-efficacy ability.

Background: Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease that presents a significant burden on health care systems in many countries. With the rise of obesity, the incidence of Type 2 diabetes has also been steadily increasing. A healthy lifestyle and understanding of diabetes management are important factors for delaying the onset of comorbidities associated with Type 2 diabetes. The objective of this study was to evaluate the self-perception of health in individuals with Type 2 diabetes as it relates to BMI status, which has important implications for the implementation of preventive programs. Methods: A cross-sectional lifestyle survey was implemented in the region of Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico, targeting 100 participants diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Anthropometric measurements and participant characteristics were also obtained. Fisher’s exact test was used to determine if the proportions of lifestyles perceptions differed by BMI status. Results:  Participants had a mean age of 56.12 ± 10.26, a mean BMI of 29.13 ± 5.48 kg/m2, were mostly married (67.0%), and female (70.0%). None of the normal weight participants perceived themselves as unhealthy. 95% of overweight/obese participants perceived themselves to be healthy, despite a diagnosis of diabetes and being overweight/obese, while only 5% perceived themselves to be unhealthy. However, these differences in the perceptions of health classified by BMI status were not statistically significant (p = 0.42).Conclusion: Our findings indicate that overweight and obese persons with Type 2 diabetes in Celaya, Mexico may have misperceptions about their own health, even though these findings were not statistically significant. These preliminary data highlight the importance of implementing prevention and educational programs among those with diabetes, in order to combat health misperceptions and raise awareness about the dangers of diabetes and obesity. Furthermore, more research with larger sample sizes is needed  in order to fully understand the effects of perception of health on actual health.

Abstract Background: Normoalbuminuric diabetic kidney disease (NADKD) is a newly defined DKD, the clinical features and pathogenesis for which are still being understood. This study aimed to investigate the features and risk factors for NADKD in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted. The related clinical and laboratory data of patients with T2DM hospitalized between August 2012 and January 2020 were collected for statistical analysis. We classified the patients with T2DM into four groups on the basis of the presence or absence of albuminuria and reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Analysis of variance, the Kruskal–Wallis test, and the chi-square test were used to compare the groups. Binary logistic regression analyses with a forward stepwise method were performed to explore the risk factors for renal dysfunction in hospitalized patients with normoalbuminuric T2DM.Results: Among the 1620 patients evaluated, 500 (30.9%) had DKD, of which 9% had NADKD. The prevalence of stroke, cardiovascular events, carotid plaque, and peripheral arterial disease in NADKD was significantly higher than in a non-DKD control group (normoalbuminuric T2DM patients with eGFR of ≥60 ml/min/1.73 m2). Regression analyses revealed that three significant independent factors were associated with NADKD: age (OR = 1.089, confidence interval [CI] 95% [1.055−1.123], p < 0.001), previous use of renin−angiotensin system inhibitors (RASIs; OR = 2.330, CI 95% [1.212−4.481], p = 0.011), and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c; OR = 0.839, CI 95% [0.716−0.983], p = 0.03). Conclusions: NADKD is mainly associated with macrovascular rather than microvascular complications. NADKD is more common in patients with normoalbuminuric T2DM with older age, previous use of RASIs, and good glycemic control.

Abstract Background: Little is known about the association between abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) and the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) among patients with diabetes. This study evaluated the cross-sectional association between AAC and CVD morbidity in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study enrolled 285 inpatients with type 2 diabetes. The lateral view of an abdominal X-ray image obtained while each subject was in a standing position was examined, and the AAC score and AAC length, corresponding to the area of calcific deposits in the anterior and posterior aortic wall for the L1-4 and L1-5 regions, respectively, were measured. The associations between the AAC scores and lengths and the presence of coronary artery disease (CAD), cerebral infarction (CI), and peripheral artery disease (PAD) were then assessed. The correlation between the AAC grades and other clinical factors were also evaluated. Results: The degree of AAC was significantly correlated with a higher prevalence of CAD and CI but not PAD after adjustments for cardiovascular risk factors. The AAC score was inversely correlated with BMI, and both the AAC score and the AAC length were correlated with the Fib-4 index; these correlations persisted after adjustments for cardiovascular risk factors and BMI, although AAC was not associated with ultrasonography-diagnosed fatty liver. Conclusion: AAC is associated with CAD and CI morbidity in patients with type 2 diabetes. AAC grading also predicts the Fib-4 index, a hepatic fibrosis marker, suggesting a novel potential predictor of liver disease that is independent of cardiovascular risk factors and obesity.
