The teaching process of English writing in the colleges can be carried out with more effective and innovative approaches in the network milieu, and the concept of collaborative learning can also become the basic teaching philosophy of English writing. The teaching conditions of English writing in some colleges and universities were analyzed. In general, the overall teaching conditions suffer from many deficiencies, which become the aspects for developing English writing teaching activities based on collaborative learning in the network milieu. Achieving the teaching outcomes of either collaborative English writing or English writing on the basis of collaborative learning is not easy. This paper will analyze the difficulty of college English writing teaching based on collaborative learning in the network milieu, and put forward specific suggestions for teaching.

Teaching reform is an important part of addressing teaching standards in China in order to ensure quality in faculty performance and implementation of student outcomes is delivered at the highest degree of excellence in colleges and universities throughout China. This chapter makes a comprehensive investigation in the field of English teaching in 20 colleges and universities in Heilongjiang Province. This chapter will focus on aspects of English teaching reform. The College English Test (CET) is a large-scale standardized test administered nationwide by the National College English Testing Committee on behalf of the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in China. The chapter will describe the role CET 4 & 6, faculty, and scientific research played in the analysis of the findings. This chapter discusses progress in the field of teaching English, addresses challenges and makes appropriate recommendations.

With the rapid development of mobile information technology and social media networks, it is feasible for college English teachers to get access to social networks such as QQ, Email and MSN as a way of practicing English writing beyond classroom. Similarly, it is also possible for teachers to utilize WeChat Platform where online communities for students and teachers can be established to combine collaborative and mobile learning together as a complementary way of classroom writing teaching. WeChat Platform, as the most popular software in China, owns the advantages of transmitting instant message, videos and pictures, which supplies students more chances to collaborate and interact with each other/one another at different stages of writing tasks. This research explores the application collaborative learning of college English writing on WeChat Platform. Based on the one-semester research as well as the questionnaire of the pre-test and post-test, it is revealed that, although there are still a few challenges for students and teachers to face, this mode of college English writing contributes to cultivating the students’ team spirit, enhancing their initiative, improving their writing efficiency and developing their critical thinking by engaging in student-student and student-teacher collaboration and interaction, information sharing, communicating and socializing with classmates.

This research paper attempts to identify some problems and difficulties that impact the teaching of English language in grade nine in four fundamental stage schools in Misurata city. The study tries to explore what barriers and obstacles learners and teachers might face in the learning-teaching process. The research methodology underlying this research paper is a questionnaire. The questionnaire is administered to three sample groups: teachers, students, and inspectors of English. The presentation of the results of the questionnaire showed an illustration of several difficulties and problems that are encountered in the process of teaching English as a foreign language in the fundamental stage. These problems in brief are: the high number of students in class, the lack of qualified English teachers who could teach the syllabus appropriately, some teachers do not follow the instructions available in the teacher's book, the interference of the Arabic language on the English language, the students’ feeling when asked to speak in English, pronouncing some English sounds, and learning the English writing system. The results and discussion of the study suggest how to overcome these difficulties and problems by following the modern teaching strategies and approaches and their implications in classrooms.

With the development of the big data era and the opening of translation majors in colleges and universities, translation teaching is gradually receiving attention. However, there are still many problems in the training of translators in colleges and universities in terms of teachers, teaching time and teaching mode. In the context of the era of big data, this article uses questionnaires and data analysis, starting from the PACTE translation ability model, combined with constructivist learning theory, blended learning theory, and instructional design theory to analyze the problems of undergraduate translation ability. This article conducts a questionnaire survey on the 2018 students of XX University’s a major, and analyzes their English scores. Students’ bilingual ability is weak, and it is difficult to consider translation under the influence of context in the translation process; their strategic ability is not ideal, and they lack the ability to solve problems when they encounter specific translation problems. The English performance of the experimental class students who have undergone English translation teaching for one semester is significantly better than the control class students who have not received English translation teaching. Teachers can combine teaching theories to design English translation teaching and cultivate students’ awareness of comparative analysis in English learning. Teachers can cultivate students’ English thinking ability, promote them to master English better, and help them improve their English application ability.
