The “1+X” system has a great impact on the development of vocational education. Based on this system, it is imperative to carry out the reform and practice of the core curriculum of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Several vocational colleges have made attempts in the reform and practice of the curriculum, but the effect is not ideal. Under the influence of various factors, such as the lack of experience, there are also several problems in the reform and practice of the curriculum. Among them, the most apparent problems are as follows: the curriculum reform is not synchronized with the development of teaching materials, the pertinence of practical teaching is lacking, and the guidance provided for professional certificate examinations is not well-established. This paper specifically analyzes the problems existing in the reform and practice of the core curriculum of Civil Engineering and Architecture under the “1+X” system, and then puts forward effective strategies for these problems.

The text of the articleis a proposal of a way of working in the new high school (after primary school), whichfunctions in the conditions set by the structural and curriculum reform. The author distances himself from the concept of historical and literary education, at the same time showing the inability to maintain the problematic order in literary and cultural education under the conditions of implementing the obligation of the core curriculum. In opposition to the sanctioned model of education in the education of high school students, it proposes a concept of work that, on the one hand, respects the curriculum requirements, and on the otherhand, meets the authentic needs and expectations of students, and includes broadly understood popular culture in the scope of teaching interests. Such thinking is exemplified by the presentation of anexcerpt from the work plan implemented in the firstgrades of the new high school. Introduction: One of the objectives of the core curriculum reform was to diversify school physical education and to adapt it to the interests of students. Nowadays, there is an alarming decline in physical activity among young people, both in school and non-school classes, and the school offers to choose a favorite sport discipline lose with out-of-school offers. Searching for effective solutions was a necessity. Methods: The research was conducted in 2013 among 74 junior high and high school teachers. The method of a diagnostic survey using a questionnaire was used. The arithmetic mean of the results was calculated. A chi-square goodness of fit test (x^2) was performed to determine the significance of differences. Results: In most cases, the assessments of men and women were very similar. The data show that the highest ratings of suitability and feasibility were obtained by the thematic blocks: "Sports of all life and leisure" and "Sport". For many years, sports games have been the most desirable content of physical education lessons by students and, as shown by the results of the conducted research, also physical education teachers. Conclusions: The obtained results indicates that physical education teachers positively assess the content of the core curriculum implemented in 2009. The surveyed teachers assessed the usefulness of the core curriculum content much better than its feasibility.

This study seeks to identify the level of general competency of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) lecturers of construction technology civil engineering (CTCE) of vocational college using the standard model of competency requirement based on grade of lecturer and years of teaching experience. The data were analyzed using the SPSS Version 20.0 software, which involved descriptive statistical method, mean, and standard deviation. Data collection for the assessment phase involves construction technology lecturers from 45 vocational colleges in all the states in Peninsular Malaysia. The respondents of the study were 304 lecturers who taught CTCE courses in vocational colleges from 14 states, namely Johor, Sarawak, and Federal Territory (Kuala Lumpur and Labuan). Finding shows that the professional general competency level of TVET CTCE vocational college lecturers based on years of teaching experience is high with satisfactory interpretation. It also shows that the level of professional competency of TVET CTCE lecturer of vocational college based on grade of the post is high, whereas the level of entrepreneurship skill competency as a whole is at moderate level. There was a slight decrease in the proficiency level profile of the CTCE lecturer who had more than 15 years of experience compared with those with teaching experience of 15 years or less. There found positive relationships between the dimensions of professionalism and the generic skills. The findings of the study will help the Ministry of Education in particular public or private institutions of higher learning in preparing TVET lecturers to become specialized, highly skilled, competent, and efficient in civil engineering courses in the attempt to strengthen the teaching profession, especially in technical and vocational education, which is in line with the aspirations of the 21st-century education.
