Physical exercise is any form of activity carried out by an individual, especially the elderly, to improve physical fitness and physical conditions, with the main objective being to increase strength, cardiorespiratory endurance, speed, skills,, and flexibility. In the elderly, physical training aims to improve the quality of life, so they can get through their old days in a fit. The purpose of this study is to find out how the relationship between active physical activity and sleep quality with physical fatigue that occurs in the elderly in the working area. This research is a descriptive qualitative study using a cross-sectional study approach. Sampling is done by the method of Total Sampling, where all respondents will be involved in research activities, with a total sample of 125 respondents. The research activity was carried out for approximately 1 month starting from July 23-August 24, 2019 at the Harapan Baru Health Center in Samarinda. The result of this research showed the significant relationship between physical activity with fatigue.

Introduction: The aging process in the course of human life is a natural thing. Elderly with age> 60 years who can maintain functional physical fitness will slow down degenerative processes. However, the fact found in the community is that there are still many older people who experience physical deterioration because they do not maintain the physical fitness of the elderly. This study aims to determine the level of physical fitness in the elderly.Method: This study used a cross-sectional study. The total sample in this study was 108 respondents who were determined based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The independent variables in this study were individual characteristics (gender, age, marital status, and several dependents), physical activity, and lifestyle. The dependent variable in this study is the level of physical fitness in the elderly. The instruments in this study used questionnaires and physical fitness tests for the elderly. The analysis in this study used the chi-square test.Result: The results of this study indicate an association between age (0,000), marital status (0,027), physical activity (0,508), and lifestyle (0,034) with physical fitness levels.Conclusion:  The elderly do physical activities according to their abilities and diligently exercise and live a good lifestyle; their physical fitness will also be functional.

Data collection techniques using interview techniques, observation, and research questionnaires. Data processing and analysis using univariate analysis using frequency distribution tables for the description of the study, and multivariate analysis using chi-square analysis. The research activity was carried out for approximately 1 month starting from July 23-August 24, 2019 at the Harapan Baru Health Center in Samarinda. Based on the results of tabulation of data conducted using univariate analysis for physical activity variables showed that the majority of respondents were in the high category with 71 respondents (57%), for the sleep needs of 125 respondents showed the majority in good sleep needs with the number of respondents as many as 68 people (54%), and for the variable physical fatigue the majority of respondents were in the category of Tired with the number of respondents as many as 72 people (58%). For bivariate analysis between physical activity with fatigue where 43 of 71 respondents (34%) did not experience fatigue after doing physical activity, with a P-Value of 0.025 <0.05, so that there was a significant relationship between physical activity. with fatigue, and the OR value = 2,298 shows that the elderly who are active in physical activity will not experience physical fatigue. For the sleep needs variable of 39 people (31%) of respondents with sleep deprivation problems do not experience fatigue, with a P-Value of 0.442> 0.05, so there is no significant relationship between sleep needs and fatigue of an elderly person. With OR value = 0.755 where elderly people who have adequate sleep will not experience physical fatigue.

COVID-19 pandemic has caused the changes on the physical activity of elderly. Physical activity can affect the sleep quality of elderly. This research aims to analyze the correlation between physical activity and quality of sleep during the COVID-19 pandemic at UPT PSTW Bondowoso. This research uses a cross sectional study design. There are 44 samples of elderlies using consecutive sampling. The instrument of this research is the characteristics of the elderly questionnaire. The elderly's physical activity instrument uses the Physical Activity Scale for Elderly (PASE) and the elderly's sleep quality uses Pitssburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The analysis of research data uses Spearman-rho (p-value <0.05). The results show that on physical activity, the median result (69.98) and good sleep quality (65.9%). The result of the correlation test shows that there is a correlation between physical activity and sleep quality (r = -0,364; p = 0,015). The conclusion of this research, is that the important of physical activity in maintaining the quality of sleep. Therefore, elderly should maintain physical activity to obtain a good sleep quality.

Background: Vietnam is entering the stage of aging population; as a result, the quality of life (QOL) of the elderly is really a matter of concern. There is a great deal of research on the quality of life of the elderly while Vietnam witnesses a lack of research on this topic, especially on how physical and social activities have impact on QOL of the elderly. Objectives: (1) To describe the situation of participation in physical, social activities and QOL of the elderly residing in Truong An Ward, Hue city. (2) To examine the association between physical, social activities and QOL among participants. Methodology: This study used cross-sectional study design. A total sample of 420 people aged 60 and above in Truong An Ward, Hue city were interviewd. The SF36 was used to measure the QOL of participants. Results: Percentage of the elderly taking part in physical activity were 66%. 49% reported having the habit of taking part in social activities. The majority of the elderly get their QOL level in three health fields, namely physical, mental and general health at above average. (56.0, 60.7 and 60.8 respectively). There were significant associations between physical activities, social activities and QOL among participants. Conclusion: The percentage of the elderly taking part in physical and social activities were still low. Besides, QOL of the elderly at the research location was not really high. It’s important to encourage the elderly taking part in physical and social activities to improve their quality of life. Key words: Physical activities, social activities, QOL, the elderly

Background:Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, autoimmune inflammatory condition that affects 0.5% of the adult population worldwide (1). Sedentary behavior (SB) is any waking behavior characterized by an energy expenditure of ≤1.5 METs (metabolic equivalent) and a sitting or reclining posture, e.g. computer use (2) and has a negative impact on health in the RA population (3). Sleep is an important health behavior, but sleep quality is an issue for people living with RA (4, 5). Poor sleep quality is associated with low levels of physical activity in RA (4) however the association between SB and sleep in people who have RA has not been examined previously.Objectives:The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between SB and sleep in people who have RA.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted. Patients were recruited from rheumatology clinics in a large acute public hospital serving a mix of urban and rural populations. Inclusion criteria were diagnosis of RA by a rheumatologist according to the American College of Rheumatology criteria age ≥ 18 and ≤ 80 years; ability to mobilize independently or aided by a stick; and to understand written and spoken English. Demographic data on age, gender, disease duration and medication were recorded. Pain and fatigue were measured by the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), anxiety and depression were assessed using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. SB was measured using the ActivPAL4™ activity monitor, over a 7-day wear period. Descriptive statistics were calculated to describe participant characteristics. Relationships between clinical characteristics and SB were examined using Pearson’s correlation coefficients and regression analyses.Results:N=76 participants enrolled in the study with valid data provided by N=72 participants. Mean age of participants was 61.5years (SD10.6) and the majority 63% (n = 47) were female. Participant mean disease duration was 17.8years (SD10.9). Mean SB time was 533.7 (SD100.1) minutes (8.9 hours per day/59.9% of waking hours). Mean sleep quality score was 7.2 (SD5.0) (Table 1). Correlation analysis and regression analysis found no significant correlation between sleep quality and SB variables. Regression analysis demonstrated positive statistical associations for SB time and body mass index (p-value=0.03846, R2 = 0.05143), SB time and pain VAS (p-value=0.009261, R2 = 0.07987), SB time and HADS (p-value = 0.009721, R2 = 0.08097) and SB time and HADSD (p-value = 0.01932, R2 = 0.0643).Conclusion:We found high levels of sedentary behavior and poor sleep quality in people who have RA, however no statistically significant relationship was found in this study. Objective: to determine lifestyle changes, such as physical activity, nutrition, and sleep in an Argentinean university population, caused by confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Cross-sectional study via web survey. 1021 the Argentinean university population (women, n = 645 and men, n = 376) aged between 18–70 years old was participate. Survey was utilized to measure participant physical activity behavior, nutrition, and sleep April to May 2020. Results: the main findings revealed that 4.3% of the sample showed obesity; the highest proportion of the sample stayed more than 6 hours in a sedentary status; 21.74% reported bad sleep quality; a reduction in good feeding pattern; and an increase in subjects who do not perform physical activity. According to socio-demographic and anthropometric factors, being a student (OR 2.19, CI95% 1.18 - 4, p= .012), overweight (OR 1.71, CI95% 1.19 – 2.44, p= .003), obesity (OR 4.45, CI95% 2.27 – 8.7, p< .001), and have been confined more than 45 days was associated with bad feeding. Likewise, low physical activity levels were associated with obesity (OR 3.2 CI95% 1.66 – 6.18, p= .001), being female (OR 1.61, CI95% 1.14 –2.28, p= .006) and get married (OR 1.72, CI95% 1.14 – 2.61, p= .009). Moreover, being a student was associated with poor sleep quality (OR 43.6, CI95%5.4 – 350, p< .001). Conclusion: This study suggests that confinement decreased healthy living habits such as good nutrition and physical activity and affected the quality of sleep in young subjects.  Resumen. Objetivo: determinar los cambios en el estilo de vida, como la actividad física, la nutrición y el sueño en una población universitaria argentina, causados por el confinamiento durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Métodos: Estudio transversal mediante encuesta por Internet. Participaron 1021 personas de la población universitaria argentina (mujeres, n = 645 y hombres, n = 376) de entre 18 y 70 años de edad. La encuesta fue utilizada para medir el comportamiento de la actividad física, la nutrición y el sueño de los participantes de abril a mayo de 2020.Resultados: los principales hallazgos mostraron que el 4,3% de la muestra presentaba obesidad; la mayor proporción de la muestra permaneció más de 6 horas en estado sedentario; el 21,74% informó sobre la mala calidad del sueño; una reducción de los hábitos correctos de alimentación; y un aumento de los participantes que no realizan actividad física. De acuerdo con factores socio-demográficos y antropométricos, ser estudiante (OR 2.19, CI95% 1.18 - 4, p= .012), el sobrepeso (OR 1.71, CI95% 1.19 - 2.44, p= .003), la obesidad (OR 4.45, CI95% 2.27 - 8.7, p< .001), y haber estado confinado más de 45 días se asoció con una mala alimentación. Además, ser estudiante se asoció con una mala calidad de sueño (OR 43,6, CI95% 5,4 - 350, p< .001). Conclusión: Este estudio sugiere que el confinamiento disminuyó los hábitos de vida saludables como la buena nutrición, la actividad física, y afectó la calidad del sueño en sujetos jóvenes.

The main purpose of the present study was to explore the associations of sleep duration and sleep quality with self-rated health. In this cross-sectional study, participants were 894 elderly individuals. Self-rated health, sleep duration, and sleep quality were self-reported. The associations were examined using multiple logistic regression analyses.After adjusting for sex, physical activity, smoking consumption, alcohol consumption, psychological distress, socioeconomic status, and chronic disease/s, sleeping <6 h (OR (Odds ratio) = 3.21; 95% CI (95 percent confident interval) 1.61 to 6.39), 6–7 h (OR = 2.47; 95% CI 1.40 to 4.36), 8–9 h (OR = 3.26; 95% CI 1.82 to 5.83), and >9 h (OR = 3.62; 95% CI 1.57 to 8.34) and having ‘poor’ sleep quality (≥5 points; OR = 2.33; 95% CI 1.46 to 3.73) were associated with ‘poor’ self-rated health. When sleep duration and sleep quality were entered simultaneously into the model, the same associations remained. Our findings provide evidence that both ‘short’ and ‘long’ sleep and ‘poor’ sleep quality are associated with ‘poor’ self-rated health. Thus, interventions that promote healthy sleep hygiene in the elderly are warranted.

Introduction: Stroke is a major cause of death and mortality worldwide. The sedentary lifestyle is a modifiable risk factor and the regular practice of physical activity can reduce the recurrence of stroke and its symptoms. Objective: To characterize the level of physical activity of post-stroke patients before and after the event. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional, analytical study. The population of the study consisted of patients diagnosed with stroke, in the chronic phase under treatment or that have already been discharged from the Physiotherapy School Clinic of FACISA in Santa Cruz-RN. The individuals were evaluated by the Modified Baecker Questionnaire for the Elderly (QBMI) that classifies the level of physical activity in: sedentary (-9), active (9 to 16), and athletes (+16). The normality of the variables was verified by the Shapiro-Wilk test. Wilcoxon’s test was used for comparative analysis of QBMI before and after stroke. Results: Nineteen patients participated (8 male and 11 female) with a mean age of 63 years, of these, 11 had systemic hypertension. Before, 3 were classified as sedentary (score mean: 5.34), 5 active (score mean: 12.254) and 1 athlete ( score mean: 27.04). After the stroke, 18 were classified as sedentary (score mean: 1.46) (p=0.001). Conclusion: There was a reduction in the participants’ level of physical activity, showing greater sedentariness after stroke, although physical activity is essential for secondary prevention of stroke.

Dementia is an acquired intellectual and memory dysfunction caused by brain disease, and is not associated with impaired levels of consciousness. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with dementia in the elderly at the Cakung District Health Center in 2020. This study is a quantitative study with a correlative descriptive research design with a cross sectional study approach. The population consisted of elderly patients who participated in prolanis activities at the Cakung District Health Center. Sampling using total sampling. The sample consisted of 60 respondents. Data analysis using chi square test. The results showed a relationship between age (p = 0.000), physical activity (p = 0.000) and dementia. Physical activity needs to be done by the elderly to inhibit the factors that accelerate the onset of dementia. Counseling and learning about physical activity in the elderly should be a program in providing health services to the elderly, especially to prevent dementia. Keywords : Dementia, Physical Activity

Abstract Background Child development has critical links to his ability to see and hear. When these senses are impaired, everything is impacted. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of visual and hearing impairments on physical activity and sleep quality in a comparison with the normal sighted-hearing children. Methods This cross-sectional study included 60 Saudi children (20 blind, 20 sensorineural deaf, and 20 sighted-hearing) aged 10 to 15 years old. The physical activity levels and sleep quality were assessed using a waist-mounted ActiGraph accelerometer. Results Children with sensorineural deafness were significantly more active (in step rate and activity rate) than the sighted-hearing group (p = 0.05 and 0.003, respectively). Sighted-hearing children and children with blindness had significantly more sedentary time than children with sensorineural deafness (p = 0.004 and 0.03, respectively). Sleep efficiency was significantly higher in children with sensorineural deafness than sighted-hearing children (p = 0.02). No significant difference was recorded in any of the sleep parameters when children with blindness were compared to the sighted-hearing or children with sensorineural deafness (p > 0.05). Conclusions The ActiGraph results revealed that children with sensorineural deafness were significantly more active and with higher sleep efficiency than sighted-hearing children. Children with blindness spent more time in sedentary activities and less time in moderate activities than children with sensorineural deafness. There was no significant difference in sleep efficiency when comparing sensorineural deaf and blind children.
