PALABRAS CLAVE: materia, psique, espíritu, idealismo, materialismo, filosofía de la mente, Lucrecio, Santayana    ABSTRACT  Santayana’s philosophy of mind could explain the origin of the human animal from out of the order of matter. The social functioning of the body/brain nexus that has allowed it to survival implicitly carries with it the opening up of a new realm —it is but it does not exist— traditionally designated in a variety of ways: soul, conscience, mind. When this realm is explained from a materialist point of view, both its origin and its untarnished specificity are understood —highlighting even the gleam of the spirit, so attractive to poets and mystics. In this manner, a large portion of the paradoxes found in the philosophy of mind could be avoided.    Keywords: matter, psyche, spirit, idealism, materialism, philosophy of mind, Lucretius, Santayana

AbstractThis paper introduces the notion of ‘cognitive’ institution and discusses its relevance to institutional economics. Cognitive institutions are conceptually founded on the philosophy of mind notion of extended mind, broadened to also include the distinctly social, institutional, and normative dimensions. Cognitive institutions are defined as institutions that not just allow agents to perform certain cognitive processes in the social domain but, more importantly, without which some of the agents' cognitive processes would not exist or even be possible. The externalist point of view of the extended mind has already had some influence in institutional economics: Arthur Denzau and Douglass North first introduced the notion of institution understood in terms of ‘shared mental models’, and relatedly philosopher Andy Clark introduced the notion of ‘scaffolding institution’. We discuss shared mental models and scaffolding institutions and go a step further by showing that the notion of cognitive institution can capture more fundamental and salient aspects of economic institutions. In particular, we focus on the market as an economic cognitive institution.

Purpose: to compare target, style, methodological, historical and socio-political features and determine the possibilities of mutual application of various approaches to the development of dance education in China and Ukraine. Material and methods. The review included articles on the peculiarities of historical development, methodological aspects, the dance influence on health of people of different ages and different social status. The review also included articles on the peculiarities of the social and political aspects of dance art in China and Ukraine. The analysis of literary sources was carried out by working with scientific articles that are presented in the databases "Web of Science", "Scopus", "Pub Med" and others. Results. The features of Chinese dances that can be applied in Ukraine have been identified: 1 - the practice of mass dances on the streets and squares of cities; 2 - the inner orientation of the dance art towards unity with nature, towards the self-expression of people of their feelings, emotions, experiences, towards achieving harmony through movement; 3 - increased attention to the psychological preparation of dancers; 4 - high attention of researchers to the influence of dancing on the mental and cardiological health of people of different ages; 5 - high number of articles, published in rating journals. The features of Ukrainian dances, which can be applied in China, have been determined: 1 - the development of speed-power qualities of dancers; 2 - implementation of an individual approach, which is currently beginning to develop in Ukraine. Conclusions. The combination of Ukrainian speed-power dance and Chinese inner focus on harmony of body and soul, on unity with nature will create a qualitatively new approach to the development of dance art in general and to the process of teaching dance. This study is the first from the point of view of a comparative analysis of the process of teaching dance in China and Ukraine in terms of historical, socio-political, methodological, substantive aspects, as well as the impact of dancing on the body of the practitioners.

This chapter discusses feminist theories of embodiment. The theories provide a general account of the relations between bodies and selves. The philosophy of embodiment extends outside the social and political sphere to engage with debates in philosophy of mind/body, where attention to embodiment has extended beyond a simple reductionist picture of the relation between mind and brain, to consider an embodied self, embedded within an environment. The formation of embodied subjectivity as constitutive of the self, to which feminists have paid such careful attention, and the persisting interrogation of the appropriate way of understanding biological and social embodiment, has links with these debates. Feminist theorists discussed in this chapter argue that naturalising frameworks need supplementing with phenomenological, poststructuralist, and psychoanalytic ones for a complete understanding of the embodiment of the female human body.

The human person is not a static being, he must be understood as a dynamic being, in constant development. Its continuous evolution concerns both the psychological structure (intelligence, character, emotion) and biological infrastructure (or body) and the social superstructure (or society). From an objective angle, the being is as far as the body is seen. From the point of view of the soul, however, the being never stops at the frontier of the body. It is not only us, but also the family in which we were born, the marriage we have established, the profession we have, the class and the nation we belong to, etc. The present paper aims at the development of the personality from the perspective of the family, the school and the Church, as fundamental factors of education. The importance of such a topic lies in the practical approach by researching the current phenomenon of education in terms of the factors mentioned. The interest for this topic was born from the interdisciplinary psychological and theological approach. The two fields of research have in common the issue of the human being, one emphasizing its social role, the other emphasizing its spiritual dimension.

Palabras Clave: VIH/sida, representación, crónicas, enfermedad crónica, cuerpo, subjetividad Abstract: Through the reading of the chronicles on HIV / AIDS by Marta Dillon and Joaquín Hurtado, I analyze how these authors narrate the chronic coexistence with the HIV that imposes on them the learning of new ways of managing life and self-representation. I study the texts by Dillon and Hurtado not only as therapeutic strategies to deal with the impacts on bodies and emotions that the diagnosis brings but also as political strategies in order to change the social perception of the disease as a chronic condition. Through the rewriting of the body, inherent to the chronic evolution of the disease, the authors question the unproductivity or incapacity of the subjects affected by HIV and the limits between the self and the other (virus), health and illness, all in the context of the contemporary medicalization of bodies and subjectivities. Key words: HIV/AIDS, representation, chronic disease, chronicle, body, subjectivity

Abstract: At the neoliberal globalization it is assumed that the theories, private practices and policies set to solve the urban issues are universally valid and efficient, independently from the geography, demography, history, development level, culture and physical configuration of each city. This could be justified by an alienated vision of this process, a vision that is widespread among the social stakeholders. However, in the long term and thanks to the uneven global village concept of capitalism and its different impact on the territories, social structure, cultures, systems and urban morphologies, they have lead to heterogeneities and inequities that make theories, practices and policies implemented in several countries and multinational organisms unenforceable, inefficient and adverse for undeveloped regions around the world. Its implementation reproduces the development delay, contradictions, inequity and inequality that they analyze or avoid. We advocate the decolonizing of urban theories, practices and policies for Latin America and for building them from a critical point of view that takes into account the reality and needs of our population. Keywords: Latin America; globalization; theory; politics; colonialism.

This article makes the case for examining war from what Stephanie Bunn calls a ‘making point of view’. Makers and their material production of and for war have been neglected in our accounts of war, security and international relations. An attention to processes of making for war can reveal important things about how such processes are lived and undertaken at the level of the body. The article focuses on the particular phenomena of martial craft labour – the recreational making of ‘stuff’, including hats and pillowcases, by civilians for soldiers. To explore embodiment within this social site, an ethnographic method is outlined that enables the reading of objects as embodied texts, the observation of others in processes of making, and the undertaking of making by the researcher. Analysing embodied registers of aesthetic expression and the social values that attend such crafting for war reveals how this making is a space through which intimate embodied, emotional circulations undertake work for liberal-state and military-institutional logics and objectives, obscure violence, normalize war, and produce the military as an abstract social cause. Beyond the immediate empirical focus of this article, a much wider political entanglement of violence, embodiment and material production necessitates a concerted research agenda.
