This empirical study sought to investigate the grade 12 economics learners’ perceptions of opportunities to learn imperfect market structures in selected schools in the Francis Baard District of Northern Cape. A quantitative research approach was employed, where a questionnaire was administered to 253 Grade 12 economics learners from three schools in Galeshewe. The questionnaire was based on four Opportunities to Learn (OTL) variables; content exposure, content emphasis, quality of instruction, and instructional resources. Data were analysed through excel 365 and then through SPSS. Overall, the study showed that little or no opportunities to learn were being created for learners to master the concept of imperfect market structures. This study is significant because it helps to make known to both the learners and teachers, the factors influencing learners’ learning outcomes related to imperfect market structures. Learners must also be encouraged to exhibit a positive attitude towards the subject, while the economics teachers should put in the required effort to improve the learning outcomes in schools.

Kinship, family composition and household dynamics among siblings are developed positively or negatively in early life right through adulthood. Hence, the purpose of this paper is highlight the importance of family environment in influencing sibling relationship, with emphasis on sibling rivalry. Determining the factors that contribute towards sibling competition is important in counselling and assisting individuals with family issues. From a quantitative research approach, the findings showed that sibling relationships are problematic and has led to jealousies and prejudices especially if parents take sides. Family ties depend on happy sibling interactions which indirectly affects socio-economic developments as social ills are resolved. In ameliorating these private and sensitive issues among family members, the holistic society will benefit psychologically and happiness as well as a better quality of life will be attained.© 2016. This chapter explores the possibility of adopting a data-driven approach to connecting teacher-made assessments with course learning outcomes. The authors begin by describing several key concepts, such as outcome-based education, curriculum alignment, and teacher-made assessments. Then, the context of the research site and the subject in question are described and the use of structural equation modeling (SEM) in this curriculum alignment study is explained. After that, the results of these SEM analyses are presented, and the various models derived from the analyses are discussed. In particular, the authors highlight how a data-driven curriculum model can benefit from input by curriculum leaders and how SEM provides insights into course development and enhancement. The chapter concludes with recommendations for curriculum leaders and front-line teachers to improve the quality of teacher-made assessments.

This research article is the result of a scientific approach that combines guided discovery models to describe the increase of curiosity and student learning outcomes in science subjects. The research approach uses quantitative research with Nonequivalent control group design. The subjects of the study were fifth grade of 76 students of SDN Cibedug, Bogor 2016/2017. The data collection instruments used consisted of observation techniques, scale questionnaires, and test of learning outcomes. The result data showed curiosity and learning result of significance value less than 0.05. Analysis of learning result data obtained t-count value of 3.389 and t-critical at 5% significance level is 0.1992. Thus, t-count> t-table (3.389> 0.1992) which means there is an influence from the scientific approach combining the guided discovery model to the learning outcomes. The average posttest increase of experimental class curiosity was 52.00 while control class was 46.2. The research conclusion of a scientific approach combining the guided discovery model in the field of IPA lesson studies has an influence on learning outcomes and improves the curiosity of elementary school students.

Frontier markets, particularly the Moroccan financial market, are characterized by a narrowness of market, inability to absorb erratic price fluctuations and the low liquidity of securities that encourage investors to herd and imitate those who have all the information about the market. A quantitative research approach was used to analyze the existence of herding n Moroccan stock market. The daily data used in this study concerns the period from 04/01/2010 to 29/12/2017 and contains the daily returns of the MASI and a total of 43 traded stocks. Statistical and econometric methods such as multidimensional scaling and Cross-sectional absolute deviation were used. Subsequently, after the regression models were examined, findings indicated that the first stocks with the highest similarity to the index return are BMCE, BCP, IAM, ATW and CMSR, and the first stocks with the highest dissimilarity are PAP, IBC and SNP, This will have to allow investors to choose profitable alternatives and avoid those that present a possible risk. The results did also show the existence of herding in the Moroccan stock market both upward and downward. This finding was supported by the clear existence of a non-linearity between market performance and CSAD measurement, which confirms the prediction of a non-linear inversion relationship between CSAD and 𝑅𝑚. This could be due to the low level of transparency that prevails in frontier stock exchanges and reduces the quality of their information environment, which leads investors not to react rationally and to draw information from the transactions of their peers.
