Holistic education is a concept whose assumptions speak of the whole educational interactions of an exogenous and endogenous nature. The text postulates the thesis that it is possible to view the various areas of knowledge, including mathematics, holistically. Two views show arguments that confirm this possibility. The need to adapt mathematical education to students’ cognitive levels, work in small groups or openness to beauty, as well as fascinating examples of mathematical descriptions of phenomena in nature are basic needs of early classes math education. They also develop competencies relevant to the holistic approach to education, enabling the building of coherent mathematical knowledge in the minds of students and their understanding of the mathematical nature of the world.

You have already heard this afternoon of the work of two organizations that have been and are actively interested in the improvement of mathematical education. You have also had presented to you programs for adapting mathematical instruction to the needs of two rather recent types of school organization. It is apparent from this afternoon's discussion alone that the teachers of mathematics here and throughout the country are alive to their opportunities and their responsibilities. They realize the great service to society which they can perform by selecting from the vast store of mathematical knowledge those elementary methods and processes that are of widest use in the modern world, organizing them into coherent courses, and presenting them effectively to their classes. It is apparent to the careful observer that existing mathematical courses have not been constructed with due regard to the relative importance for the general student of the different mathematical methods and principles that are available for instruction in school and college. Our courses have been arranged primarily for the benefit of those who will continue their mathematical education. That they do contain much material of great use to the general student arises from the fortunate circumstances that most of the processes in elementary mathematics have some important applications in the world of to-day. But the conscientious teacher of mathematics will not allow his good fortune in this respect to paralyze his initiative. If we can add considerably to the usefulness of our courses by reorganizing them, by all means let us do it. It is certainly our duty and it should be our pleasure.

Abstract Emerging understanding of gender-specific religious persecution in some of the world’s most difficult countries for Christians offers timely insight into complex dynamics in which the church and missions have too often been unwittingly complicit due to limited visibility of the components contributing to these wounds. Fresh research into these deeply wounding global phenomena stands as both a warning and a pointer towards an avenue for effective ministrations by churches and Christian ministries that are working in the most severely affected areas of the world. Drawing on the latest trends identified by World Watch Research, outcomes of the Consultation for Christian Women under Pressure for their Faith, a contemporary case study from Central African Republic, and a biblical narrative, we will explore practical opportunities for a holistic approach to bring preparedness, healing, and restoration for communities under severe pressure for their Christian faith.

Water is indispensable to sustain life and livelihood, and rivers serve as major reservoirs of water in manyparts of the world. River Yamuna is the major tributary of the River Ganges in India and is considered to be among the most polluted rivers of the world. The Yamuna Action Plan (YAP) is one of the largest river restoration projects in India and is initiated to clean the river. YAP is a bilateral arrangement between the governments of India and Japan, and consists of three Actions Plans-I, II and III. YAP-III is currently under execution with some of the major projects being the construction of the new Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) at Okhla, rehabilitation and upgrading of WWTPs at Kondli and Rithala in the Delhi region. The impact of YAP-III with regard to these major projects on the reduction of the pollutant load reaching the river and cost-benefit has been evaluated in the current study. Findings from the study indicated that major projects such as construction of a new WWTP at Okhla (124 MGD) can effectively reduce the pollutant load by 283 kg/MGD of wastewater at a cost of Rs. 1161 crores while the rehabilitation project at Rithala (Phase I) can reduce the pollutant load by 92.5 kg/MGD wastewater at a cost of Rs. 300 crores. The present study indicates the need to evaluate projects in terms of cost-benefit analysis in addition to the economic and environmental evaluation for effective action. A holistic approach towards treatment of pollutant load in the river and prevention of further pollutants from reaching the river is required in addition to community awareness and participation for sustainable river water management.

There is hardly a country or a government in the world which all its citizens are of the same race or ethnic background, speak the same language or follow the same religion. Indeed, there is one majority in most countries in the world which have the same history, culture, language, religion and nationality. Besides, there are some small groups in those countries that have their own ethnical, lingual and religious characteristics called minorities. The religious minorities which are part of each society are citizens of that society and as a result, they have the rights and promises like other citizens in the same society. Religious minorities have always been given special attention in holy Sharia of Islam and they have lived next to Muslims during centuries and, consequently, they have had rights and promises. One of the privileges given to the religious minorities is their legal independence for taking civil action by religious minorities. Such issue has been considered by legislator in different laws in Iran. So that it necessitates an analysis of its principles and conditions for taking civil actions concerning the approved laws in legal system of Iran. The present paper aims at shedding some lights on the same subject.

This article represents an analysis of efficiency of Ukrainian democracy within the framework of three popural indices of democracy – The Economist Democracy Index, Freedom In the World index and Polity IV. Comparative analysis shows the core factors which bring three different democratic concepts, used in the indices, to the integral unity. Finding correlation between factors of Ukrainian democracy, measured in the indices through a certain time period (2006-2018), helps getting integral look at the problem of non existent universal theoretic base for understanding democracy. The basic idea of the analysis, represented in this article, shows that different factors, used by indices in measuring democracy, do not evenly correlate in practice, though they represent holistic approach to the essence of democracy. Choosing specific theoretical approach of understanding democracy makes it hard for indices to fully measure real democracy. This analysis aims at searching correlation in different basic factors of democratic models, used by indices with different approaches. As the result of the analysis the article ranks a number of basic factors, used in three popular indices of democracy, according to the strength of correlation of these factors with other factors of the index they represent and with the final score of the index. Integral choice of the basic factors, which correlate with the change of Ukraine’s democratic trends according to the three indices, covers several dimensions of democratic model. Ukrainian democratic trends in the specific time period (2006-2018), as the analysis shows, from integral point of view correlates the most with the changes in electoral process and pluralism, civil liberties and legal restrictions of the executive power. Political culture, political participation and individual rights show weak correlation with Ukrainian democratic trends within the period of time, chosen for the analysis.

In Egypt, the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT) is treating cultural heritage in a holistic approach whether regarding the diversity of themes of cultural heritage or in the case of museums, the presence of objects in the different museums both within the country or abroad (a sort of global virtual museum). The establishment of CULTNAT marks a unique experience in the application of the latest innovations in the world of telecommunications and information technology towards heritage issues. CULTNAT’s main mandate is to document the various aspects of Egypt's tangible and intangible cultural heritage as well as its natural heritage.

This study intended to rediscover the concepts of mathematical induction and to develop a learning module that can make the students be more appreciative of mathematical induction. Specifically, this investigation aimed to measure the levels of knowledge and attitude of students towards mathematical induction. Guided by the ADDIE (Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation Evaluation) instructional systems design framework, the researchers employed the descriptive method and purposively chose 8 mathematics students whose attitude and cognitive levels were to be assessed using valid and reliable research instruments (α’s of 0.85 and 0.86). Findings revealed that the revisitation of the concept significantly increased the cognitive level but such intervention did not improve the attitude level of the students.

Keywords: Math education, mathematical induction, revisitation, attitude, cognitive, mathematics students, Philippines

Based on cultural history, we seek answers in the pertinent official documents, especially in the Teaching Programs. The study shows for the effective teachers of the First Republic a general formation, with the necessary knowledge to teach, lacking in great measure, the knowledge to teach mathematics. The changes that occurred in the Programs sought to support the purpose of primary education, without providing the training to teach, since this is not its purpose.Keyword: History of Education. I think it is fairly well understood by most people interested in international health that the major underlying problem throughout the world is overpopulation. In my article it was not my intent to emphasize any one particular problem, but rather to give an anecdotal survey of my experience abroad. To think that merely solving the population problem will solve all of the world ills seems to me to be a naive approach. Each section of the world differs ill relation to its basic needs.

The purpose of this column is to promote the use of focused breathing and singing as access points to improved student self-awareness in the general music classroom. Singing is a holistic activity with the healing potential to improve and transform many traumatic life experiences endured by our students. Similarly, mindfulness breathwork is a holistic approach used to enhance self-awareness in the moment and can reduce anxiety. Both pursuits have the potential to help students overcome difficulties of fear, stress, and anxiety. Both practices expose participants to new ways of understanding themselves and the world around them while creating important access points to mindfulness and self-awareness.
