<p>The study aimed to find out the level of competence and training needs of Barangay Health Workers (BHW) of Davao City. The study utilized the descriptive-correlation and comparative research designs involving 270 BHWs and 15 BHW district presidents, conveniently selected as respondents of the study. A Visayan-translated questionnaire was constructed and tested for reliability for easy understanding by the respondents. The study revealed that majority of the respondents are middle-age adults, female, married, Roman Catholic, high school graduates, had 6-10 years of service as BHW and are city-paid. They are fairly competent on the different areas for training and development in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes. The respondents identified all areas for training and development as “highly needed” wherein, the healthcare of children in terms of nutrition is rated the highest. On both the level of competence and training needs urgency of the respondents, there is no significant association on their demographic profile. Furthermore, there is no significant relationship between the training needs urgency and the level of competence of the respondents. Finally, District 9 was found to be consistently “not competent” in all areas of competency while District 12 was found to be “not competent” only in the areas of Skills and Attitude. Although the rest of the districts were found to be fairly and moderately competent, training is still needed in all districts.</p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>Health, training needs analysis, Barangay Health Workers, descriptivecorrelation and comparative, Davao City, Philippines</p><div> </div>

The rise of Manny Pacquaio in 1998 revived the popularity of boxing in the Philippines. But such popularity is only limited to men because women are still not interested in boxing as a sport. With this, the researcher identified the knowledge of female university students about the nature, rules and trainings in boxing and its relationship to the interest of female university students in boxing. This study employed a descriptive-correlation design wherein 394 female students became the respondents coming from the four universities in Davao City. The survey questionnaire was validated by experts in the field of sport, and reliability tested with an internal consistency correlation value of 0.67 and a Cronbach’s value of 0.88, respectively. Based on the result, most of the respondents had knowledge about the training in boxing but they were not interested in boxing as a sport. No significant relationship was found between the knowledge and interest of the respondents in boxing.<div> </div><div> </div><div><strong>Keywords:</strong> Boxing, women boxer, Manny Pacquiao, Descriptive-correlation, Cronbach, Davao City, Philippines</div><div> </div>

The main objective of the study was to determine whether there is a significant relationship between the students’ perceptions on the use of portfolio assessment and their performance in Trigonometry. The respondents were 100 students from St. Mary’s College of Bansalan, Davao del Sur. The researcher employed descriptive correlation and used a researcher-made validated survey questionnaire for data gathering. Results revealed that the students’ perceptions on the use of portfolio assessment were not significantly related to their performance in Trigonometry. Thus, there are other factors that contributed to the performance of students in Trigonometry. It is recommended that school administration and teachers should take further initiatives to make a continuous move on implementing portfolio assessment in college instruction especially in Trigonometry subject and students should maintain or improve their performance by doing desirable study behaviors and learning strategies. Other academic performance-related variables like study habits, learning strategies and academic related skills should be studied.<div> </div>

Networking is a marketing method which a company taps agents to reach potential customers that could not be contacted by traditional online or offline marketing methods. Being an agent in this kind of marketing endeavor can be challenging. It is evident that many college students have become networkers of various distribution companies in Davao City. Considering that schooling is always demanding and that the students are in a dilemma as to which activities should be prioritized, the researchers were prompted to explore the experiences of college students as networkers. In particular, the study focused on the marketing mix the entrepreneurial students utilized to attain their objectives vis-à-vis the motivation and the difficulties they encountered. The 12 study participants were identified through snowball sampling. In-depth interviews were conducted and recorded interview results were transcribed, categorized, and themes were identified through the emergent approach. Findings of the study revealed that the commodities, which were typically marketed by networkers through direct selling included nutraceutical such as dietary supplements, and herbal products. Networkers attributed their success to the sufficient and appropriate trainings and workshops they participated, observance of favorable business practices, the highly motivated team they belong to, the effectiveness of product they endorse and the appropriate integrated marketing communication they utilized. High student satisfaction is attributed to a high learning experience. This study was conducted to know the level of the learning experience of the University of the Immaculate Conception – Information Technology Education (UIC-ITE) students in their elective subject, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) using SAP Business One (SAP B1). It utilized the descriptive-indirect method with the use of the self-made survey questionnaire. Four areas have been focused of the said survey questionnaire which were: SAP Business One as (1) a subject, the student (2) a software tool, (3) confidence level in terms of applying for an SAP-enabled company and taking an SAP Certification Examination lastly, (4) their technical concerns. Results showed that respondents had a high to very high learning experience on the said subject using SAP Business One. Despite the fact that students were satisfied with their learning experience, third year students found to be more satisfied compared to the fourth year. As a recommendation, for students to have a high learning experience of the subject, they may be thoroughly exposed to hands-on activities for them to give meaningful learning experience of the software application. Furthermore, the researcher had found that there was a need to emphasize on the MRP module lecture and to employ focus group discussion (for future researchers) to validate the results and findings of the present study.<div> </div><div><strong>Keywords: </strong>Information technology, SAP Business One, learning experience, enterprise resource planning, descriptive–indirect, University of the Immaculate Conception, Philippines</div><div> </div>

<p>The growing population of Davao City entails more people would need the services of the police. It is therefore necessary to determine the job performance of Police Desk Officers, particularly in the views of those who have personally brought concerns to police stations. This quantitative study using descriptive survey design involved disseminating questionnaires among 30 Holy Cross of Davao College community members. Results showed that formal reports and complaints that reach police stations in Davao City are more common among females than males. The community commonly fall victims to property crimes than person crimes, alarms and disturbances. Among the police stations in Davao City, Sta. Ana Police Station receives most of the complaints from HCDC community members. The HCDC community perceived the performance of police desk officers in selected police precincts of Davao City as good. No significant difference was found in the perception of the HCDC community on police desk officers’ job performance when they are grouped according to sex, reason for contacting the police, capacity in contacting the police and police station. Therefore, these factors do not influence the job performance of the Davao City Police Desk officers. Results implicate that regardless of complainants’ background and the police station reporting to, police desk officers provide almost the same service. Generally, police desk officers are attentive, reliable, responsive, competent, well-mannered and fair.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Keywords:  </strong>Job performance, police desk officers, police officer, quantitative, descriptive, Holy Cross of Davao College, Davao City, Philippines</p><div> </div>
