The sudden shift to distance learning caused by the COVID-19 virus emergency has posed a serious challenge to schools. This article presents a successful model for applying the STEM approach in science education at the Alexander Georgiev-Kodzhakafaliyata Primary School in Burgas. In the conditions of synchronous distance learning in MS Teams environment, students conduct experiments with handy tools and materials at home, during online classes or as homework assignments, then describe the experiments in presentations and share them with their classmates during the project week ( April holidays and at the end of the year). The application of STEM home laboratory combines knowledge from different disciplines, diversifies and facilitates learning, enables learning by doing things, which most stimulates the curiosity of students. Thus, they casually acquire skills for planning and conducting a scientific experiment, generating hypotheses and reasoning, measuring results and formulating conclusions. At the same time, soft skills for teamwork, creative and critical thinking, presentation skills are formed and upgraded.

This study aims to look at educators' strategies, ideally in distance learning (online), because when the Covid-19 pandemic appears everything has changed, educators make new strategies in fostering critical thinking in early childhood during a pandemic that hits the whole world, or which is called Covid-19. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach in the form of a case study method to gain knowledge about educators' strategies in developing critical thinking skills in early childhood. Subject selection. Data collection was carried out by using an interactive model with data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. The results showed that first, during the Covid-19 pandemic children studied at home using distance learning (online); second, there is a strategy from early childhood educators in developing critical thinking skills as long as children learn via long distance (online), that is, children are invited to continue playing while learning even at home, providing an understanding that children are required to wear masks when outside the home, children must use hands sanitizer or washing hands while playing and after playing, explaining to children why they cannot play activities outside home.

Currently more attention is paid to natural science education in Lithuania. It is being encouraged to learn in green environment, diverse learning environments are established, however, it is also necessary to enhance teacher natural science literacy, to orientate education process into deeper learning. This article discusses, how to realise insect topic in primary school. French experience is also used for this. Use of insects for teaching purposes can be very beneficial, because students can perform long term observations and experience a lot. They: 1) observe insect development and analyse different stages (egg, larva, pupa, adult; stage length; death and what were the causes of it; environmental conditions: humidity, light, temperature, food, behaviour and so on); 2) develop critical thinking: look for the answers to emerging questions, compare and collate, find similarities and differences, solve emerging problems; 3) develop positive attitudes regarding nature, overcome fear and prejudice (an insect cannot be another animal, isn’t it, therefore it is more important to understand what makes insect so interesting and significant). Insect topic, as any other, can be interesting, useful for students getting to know animate nature, if it is directed towards students’ knowledge and understanding, ability, critical thinking and value attitude education. Teacher, undertaking educational or project activity about insects has to seriously prepare, think out in advance, what part of activity is going to take place in natural environment and what in the classroom, what educational spaces are going to be created or exploited, to read a lot on that topic, to prepare students’ activity sheets. Keywords: animate nature, project activity, primary school, science education.

In today's globalizing world, more and more people claim that academic knowledge is not sufficient for the success of the individual in life. Definitions of so-called hard and soft skills have been formulated. The article discusses the main accents related to the so-called soft skills and the opportunities for development of children from pre-school and primary school age.The term "soft skills" (soft skills) is used in pedagogical theory and practice and the term context competencies. They are part of the key competences for human success at every stage of his development. Soft skills include: communication, tolerance, reassurance, mutual assistance, empathy, teamwork, leadership, negotiation, decision-making, creativity, etc. Important factors for their formation from the earliest age are the family and educational institutions, which are an essential part of the child's life.Soft skills are defined as a combination of social skills, communicative skills, character, attitude, career features, emotional intelligence, etc. They can help people to orientate in the environment, to work well with others, to achieve their goals. They are complementary to other skills such as technical, professional, academic, called "hard skills".Pedagogical literature and practice seek appropriate technologies to describe the ways in which soft skills complement the so-called "hard skills" that are technological requirements for a particular activity the student is trained to perform. Soft skills are largely leading in shaping the personality of the individual. Of particular importance for the future realization of the growing generation is that besides the academic and technical skills, key social skills are also formed. The role of soft skills is increasingly appreciated by the increasing need for individual competitiveness and the globalization of the modern world. Having a number of social qualities always has the advantage of having the same academic knowledge or technical skills. The environment in which the modern generation is growing and developing is dynamic. Children are surrounded by a huge amount of information that reaches them through different channels and regardless of their desires. Their life skills are essential when the movies they watch have unrealistic ideas and the messages and challenges of social networks and peers are attractive and accessible. Children need to be prepared to deal with the "traps" of life, to have critical thinking, to master their emotions and their relationships with others, to be able to express their ideas and defend their position with arguments. In support of the lessons learned of the need to develop “soft” skills from an early age, it is imperative that UNICEF suggests that schools introduce a module of ten important skills that children can form. These include life skills such as self-awareness, decision-making, problem solving, creative thinking, critical thinking, empathy, dealing with emotions and stress; as well as soft skills such as communicative and interpersonal skills.Unfortunately, the trend that is observed is that schools primarily focus on academic knowledge. This is due to the fact that an important factor achieved success in different types of assessments. The lack of a social educational element leads to a number of problems in adolescents - aggression, associalization, lack of communication skills, etc.

The Covid-19 pandemic, which began to spread in Indonesia since March 2020, has made many activities to take place at home. The government asks all Indonesians to work from home, worship from home, and learn from home. This is done so that the virus does not spread and cause even greater casualties. Learning from home is one way to prevent students from the dangers of the Covid-19 virus. Starting from the level of early childhood education to higher education are required to carry out distance learning using technology assistance such as video calls with Hangouts, Zoom, Skype, and Webex. Future Stars Preschool also has to do distance learning using the video call method and each parent is asked to prepare their child at home so they can take online classes with written material that has been prepared in advance. Parents are also asked to take photos of their children doing homework to be emailed and the materials that have been done are sent to school at the end of the period. Schools must determine what video call application to use so that each child can take part in distance learning, as well as the method of delivering material to each child. The applications used should be easy and not burdensome for parents, and also the delivery or processing of materials can be easier for early childhood children.

The problem of introducing distance learning in primary school is actualized by the development of social networks and Internet technologies, which open unlimited horizons for their application in educational activities. In addition, the introduction of quarantine in Ukraine requires primary school teachers to find ways to effectively master the program material. Among such ways is distance learning. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the specifics and possibilities of organizing the educational process in primary school with the use of distance learning. In the process of scientific research methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization and systematization were used. Distance learning in primary school is defined as a form of organization and implementation of the educational process, in which the subjects of learning (teachers and students) in the online mode carry out educational interaction in principle and mainly extraterritorially. In the context of reforming modern Ukrainian education, a number of e-platforms have been created for the organization of distance learning for primary school students. An effective commercial platform for distance learning is the service "My Class", which contains online courses from 1st to 11th grade, which contain lessons that integrate theoretical (test presentation of content) and practical (individual tasks that can be solved independently of each other, a block of tasks that need to be solved sequentially, guidelines) blocks. Result. Emphasis is placed on the requirements to be met by a primary school teacher when organizing distance learning in primary school during the quarantine period and it is suggested to advise parents who will work remotely with junior students in the initial stages of distance learning, gradually transferring activity to children.

The widespread prevalence of COVID-19 pandemic has affected academia and parents alike. Due to the sudden closure of schools, students are missing social interaction which is vital for better learning and grooming while most schools have started online classes. This has become a tough routine for the parents working online at home since they have to ensure their children’s education. The study presented was designed to explore the experiences of home learning in times of COVID-19. A descriptive qualitative study was planned to explore the experiences of parents about home learning and management during COVID-19 to get an insight into real-life experiences. Purposive sampling technique was used for data collection. Data were collected from 19 parents falling in the inclusion criteria. Considering the lockdown problem, the data were collected via Google docs form with open-ended questions related to COVID-19 and home learning. Three major themes emerged after the data analysis: impact of COVID on children learning; support given by schools; and strategies used by caregivers at home to support learning. It was analyzed that the entire nation and academicians around the world have come forward to support learning at home offering a wide range of free online avenues to support parents to facilitate home-learning. Furthermore, parents too have adapted quickly to address the learning gap that have emerged in their children’s learning in these challenging times. Measures should be adopted to provide essential learning skills to children at home. Centralized data dashboards and educational technology may be used to keep the students, parents and schools updated.
