Nowadays, people cannot get away from social media. Social media is a part of the life of the wider community today, from teenagers to the elderly, many of which use social media to fill their spare time. Trends in the use of social media from various circles of society have many functions, such as news updates, online communication tools, sharing (data, images, and voice) without having to meet face to face. The impact of all social media use, this study aims to select the most popular social media used based on function, interest, or interface. This study uses the Promethee II method as an analysis of social media selection decisions with the results of calculations using Excel 2019. The alternative criteria objects in this study use popular social media such as Instagram, Whatsapp, Facebook, Line, and Telegram. The research method uses the stages of data collection, namely the survey method, distributing questionnaires to respondents to provide responses to the most popular social media assessors.

AbstractBackgroundProblematic social media use (PSMU) has received growing attention in the last fifteen years. Even though PSMU has been extensively studied, its internal structure is not fully understood. We used network analysis to evaluate which symptoms and associations between symptoms are most central to PSMU – as assessed by the Generalized Problematic Internet Use Scale-2 adapted for PSMU – among undergraduates.MethodNetwork analysis was applied to a large gender-balanced sample of undergraduates (n = 1344 participants; M = 51.9%; mean age = 22.50 ± 2.20 years).ResultsThe most central nodes in the network were the difficulty of controlling one’s own use of social media, the tendency to think obsessively about going online, the difficulties in resisting the urge to use social media and the preference for communicating with people online rather than face-to-face. This last element was strongly associated with a general preference for online social interactions and the feeling of being more comfortable online. The network was robust to stability and accuracy tests. The mean levels of symptoms and symptom centrality were not associated.ConclusionsDeficient self-regulation and preference for online communication were the most central symptoms of PSMU, suggesting that these symptoms should be prioritized in theoretical models of PSMU and could also serve as important treatment targets for PSMU interventions.

Journalism is a term that has been used to describe the act of gathering and reporting news, either through the print media which includes newspaper, magazine or through the broadcast media to mention television, radio broadcasting system and recently journalism has been extended throughout the world through unrestricted use of social media, whereby the act of gathering and disseminating of news is done without restraint. Conversely, one important thing to note about journalism is the ethics that enhance the profession, its notes worthy to know that any information that is disseminated via any media should be ethically standard. The new media has on a large scale given the opportunity to a whole large number of people to practice journalism without them knowing the ethics that guide the profession, which is affecting the dynamics of the profession. Therefore this study is based on assessing the impact of a new communication system on journalism; whether social media promote the ethics of journalism profession and to know if social media journalists are in compliance with the journalism code of ethics in their dissemination of news and information. In this research, the survey method was adopted and the north-central geo-political zone, Kwara state to be précised was selected for the study.

Over the last few decades, stakeholders’ growing attention towards social and environmental issues has challenged universities’ traditional accountability boundaries, imposing the adoption of innovative reporting tools that facilitate stakeholders’ engagement in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices and performances. Against this backdrop, online communication tools, such as websites and social media platforms, have gained momentum as a pivotal means to increase dialogue with the myriad of stakeholders, especially during the pandemic period, as it has dramatically reduced physical interactions. Based on these premises, this study aims to dive deep into the use of social media to communicate CSR strategies in the university context by exploring the case of the University of Salerno. To this end, all posts published by the University of Salerno’s official Twitter account from 2015 to 2021 have been extracted and analyzed. Accordingly, the degree of interactions with stakeholders and the communication direction and balance level have been examined based on Carroll’s pyramid. Findings show a higher level of engagement for CSR posts and, in particular, for the philanthropic dimension. Results also highlight that, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Salerno has empowered CSR disclosure through Twitter. The methodology adopted could be replicated for other universities to understand better how public universities use social media to involve a broader range of stakeholders in their CSR practices.

AbstractPhysical distancing is intended to mitigate the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. However, the impact of a decrease in face-to-face contacts on non-physical social contacts of older people remains unclear. In particular, we focus on intergenerational contacts that are especially relevant for older people’s mental health. Our analyses rely on an online quota sampling survey conducted in France, Italy and Spain during April 14–24, 2020. We considered the subsample of individuals aged 50 + (N = 4207). We calculated post-stratification weights based on official statistics and used logistic regressions to analyze how changes in intergenerational contacts differed by socioeconomic factors and to what extent non-physical contacts (via phone, social media, etc.) have compensated the reduction in face-to-face contacts. Finally, the change in digital devices’ use has been explored as a consequence of both decreased physical intergenerational contacts (PIC) and increased non-physical intergenerational contacts (NPIC). We found that about 50% of older people have increased their NPIC during the first lockdown. Younger individuals, those with medium level of education, and those economically better off displayed higher probabilities of increased NPIC as compared to their counterparts. NPIC increased especially for individuals whose face-to-face contacts decreased, particularly so if this happened with respect to contacts with children. A large share of older people has increased their use of video calls and instant messages, while only some increased the use of social media. These findings are relevant to understand how intergenerational contacts changed during the pandemic and may be central to better plan future outbreak responses.

In the 21st century, the sophistication of technology is increasing rapidly, without us realizing that social media is becoming our daily social needs. Social media poisons all people regardless of gender and sees age restrictions, from men and women and young children to adults. Social media is a place or place to socialize between one person and another through virtual without any time and distance restrictions. Socialization through virtual can be done in a media message, phone media, even virtual face-to-face that only requires an internet connection and tools such as gadgets, MacBooks, laptops, etc. Such sophistication has a significant influence on our lives. There are so many activities that we can do through social media, with easy access, so that anyone can use it. However, such sophistication makes parents neglect the development of their children. And reduce interaction or social activities in the community. Based on these problems, this study aims to provide information, understand further and answer questions regarding the definition of impact, the definition of social media, impact of social media throughout the 21st century, and proper use of social media. Such influences can be positive and negative influences. The method research used is descriptive qualitative with literature review analyzed from information 20 journal articles with a range of 2019-2021. The results of this study are the facts of the use and influence of social media that occur in today's life. This research has limitations, namely, only limited to the daily media use in Indonesia and the impact that arises.

Despite increasing use of social media and the potential benefits for people with social anxiety (SA) disorder, little is known about the online experience of people with SA. Our study aimed to investigate the occurrence of cognitive and behavioral processes during a series of online and off-line Facebook (FB)-based tasks among individuals with high and low levels of SA. Sixty-one undergraduates with low or high SA were asked to use FB in a laboratory setting, to make an FB post, and to imagine three ambiguous FB scenarios. Participants with high SA reported higher anxiety throughout the study with an interaction effect, indicating greater relative increases in anxiety for those with high SA over low SA across tasks. The high SA group were more likely to negatively interpret the ambiguous FB scenarios than the low SA group. They also reported using more safety-seeking behaviors and having more negative thoughts. The findings suggest that the cognitive and behavioral processes that characterize socially anxious face-to-face interaction are also evident in online communication. Suggestions are made for the clinical implications of such findings.

: Social Media includes different forms of online communication from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, podcasts, YouTube etc and has advanced how information is exchanged. A notable use is engaging on Twitter at medical conferences, both for those attending the conference and the global audience who are not able to attend. It is also increasingly used as an educational tool similar to elearning. The objective of this paper is to: 1) highlight the impact of using Twitter at cardiovascular congresses as an interactive platform for active learning as compared to passively listening to a presentation; 2) present perspectives from not only clinicians, researchers but also patients on how this information is interpreted; 3) provide recommendations for conference organizers for best practice live tweeting to share the information and knowledge beyond those in attendance; with potential for not only engagement but also educating our global community..

ABSTRAKEra digital telah mengubah gaya hidup masyarakat menjadi pengguna media sosial. Penggunaan media sosial menjadi meningkat dalam menyebarkan berita maupun dalam mencari berita. Informasi pariwisata dan berbagi pengalaman berwisata sering dilakukan oleh wisatawan melalui media sosial yang memicu ketertarikan calon wisatawan untuk berkunjung di suatu destinasi. Penelitian ini menganalisis dampak media sosial dan word of mouth terhadap over-tourism dengan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan alat analisis Smart PLS 3. Metode survey digunakan untuk menyebarkan kuesioner kepada 106 mahasiswa yang menggunakan media sosial dalam mencari informasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa media sosial dan word of mouth berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap over-tourism. Artinya semakin banyak pengguna media sosial serta pelaku word of mouth memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan jumlah wisatawan yang mengakibatkan terjadinya over-tourism. Pemangku kepentingan pariwisata harus mengelola media sosial dengan baik supaya tidak terjadi kesalah-pahaman baik dari pemberi informasi maupun penerima informasi, karena media sosial merupakan salah satu cara dalam membangun hubungan dengan wisatawan dan calon wisatawan.Kata Kunci: media sosial, word of mouth, over-tourism, pariwisata, wisatawanABSTRACTThe digital era has changed people's lifestyles into social media users. The use of social media is increasing in spreading the news as well as in searching for news. Tourism information and sharing of travel experiences are often done by tourists through social media which triggers the interest of potential tourists to visit a destination. This study analyzes the impact of social media and word of mouth on over-tourism with a quantitative approach using the Smart PLS 3 analysis tool. The survey method was used to distribute questionnaires to 106 students who used social media to find information. The results of this study indicate that social media and word of mouth have a positive and significant effect on over-tourism. This means that more and more social media users and word of mouth actors contribute to the increase in the number of tourists which results in over-tourism. Tourism stakeholders must manage social media well so that there are no misunderstandings from both information givers and recipients of information, because social media is one way to build relationships with tourists and potential tourists.Key words: Social media, word of mouth, over-tourism, tourism, tourists

The rise of social media and continuous technological advances have had a significant impact on how people communicate. Social media sites include social networking sites like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, and any website that allows social interaction. Many studies have been conducted on the impact of social media, but this study is specifically based on the impact of social media on social gatherings in Dhaka. The primary objective of this study is to examine how the virtual world reshapes the way of social gathering. In this study, an online survey was administered to find out the level of engagement of social media during a social gathering. The researcher collected a total of 120 respondents using the purposive sampling method. Findings suggest that social media intensely affects social gatherings. Despite respondents' awareness of the decrease of face-to-face communication as a result of social media, more than 74 percent of respondents continue to use social media during a social gathering. Use of social media sites found to be harnessing the quality of conversation. While technology facilitates instant communication, it also harms regular interaction.

This study is entitled (Effect of social media in political change in Sudan - A field study from the point of view of activists in the movement in the state of Khartoum 2021 Type of study: Descriptive study is the methodology used is the survey method. Objectives of the study: Disclosure of the reasons that make the Sudanese citizen accept the use of social media and Identification of the most important means of social communication used by members of the study, to know the impact of social media in the political change in Sudan. The most important results: the use of social media by activists has led to the response and conviction of the users of the Sudan need for political change. The study showed that ignoring members of the ruling power of the influence of social media helped the political change in Sudan. confirmed the study members on the impact of the use of social media by users has helped to detect the types of corruption within the members of the ruling authority in Sudan The study showed that the means of social communication was able to highlight the names of opponents of the policy of the ruling power, who convinced the recipients with the inevitability of change.
