INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH AND PRACTICE CONFERENCE “HUMANITARIAN COOPERATION IN THE EURASIAN SPACE. EXPERIENCE AND PROSPECTS. DEDICATED TO THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIS”

The publication covers the international research and practice conference, which was held online on the 17th of November of 2020 with the participation of employees of the Institute of Post-Soviet and Interregional Studies at the Russian State University for the Humanities, as well as representatives of the scientific community of the CIS. The conference was dedicated to the thirtieth anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (8 December 1991). The participants discussed the most relevant issues of humanitarian cooperation in the Eurasian space, including interuniversity partnership, interaction of leading research centers in the Commonwealth countries, the preparation of joint educational and methodological guides and programmes and other projects that would facilitate the formation of the unified Eurasian information space and speed up the processes of social and cultural (humanitarian, broadly speaking) integration. Issues related to studies of Russian language in post-Soviet states, as well as to preserving the national traditions and international representation thereof, were discussed in close conjunction with the issues of humanitarian integration. Special attention was paid to subjects concerned with preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War, including cooperation between search teams and arranging international search and commemorative projects on the territory of post-Soviet states. The conference participants also raised issues related to security in the post-Soviet states as well as to joint solutions to such acute challenges for the Commonwealth as illegal migration and drug trafficking.

The Russian State University of Justice in 2020 has started the implementation of the Research and Practice Project «Conciliation procedures in civil and administrative proceedings». In 2020–2021 the Project is housed in Podolsk town court of the Moscow Region. The present article provides information on the progress and first results of Project implementation. The article makes an emphasis on practical aspects of the issue. The author analyses and overcomes challenges which occurred during the implementation of the practical part of the Project and mediation procedures on litigation cases.

The article focuses on the comparative approach in teaching German as the second foreign language simultaneously with Czech as the first foreign language at the Russian State University for the Humanities. The bachelor program “Slavistics and Central European studies: languages, culture and literature of the Czech Republic and Austria” at the RSUH has some unique features: from the first year of this program students learn simultaneously two foreign languages: Czech as the first foreign language and German as the second one, therefore, they often make mistakes in German due to the influence of their mother tongue, Russian, as well as English, learned at school, and Czech. If the teacher of German has a good command of the Czech language, he or she can use some similarities between German and Czech that have appeared due to their long-term language contact and convergent evolution. The prepositional government of some Czech and German verbs is one of these similarities that distinguish them from the Russian language. And many mistakes are made by students in their target languages due to the verbal government of Russian. But with that said this language transfer could be avoided or reduced if we show that plenty of German and Czech verbs have analogous verb government. In order to check this statement, we have made a set of exercises (substitution drill and translation “Czech – German”, “German – Czech”, “Russian – Czech, German”), which contained four couples of German and Czech verbs with prepositional government. The testing of these exercises on seven second-year-students of the RSUH has shown that such exercises could help students to focus on Czech-German grammatical similarities and reduce the influence of the Russian language.

The International research conference “Rumyantsev readings–2009” held on April 21-23, 2009 in the Russian state library was attended by over 290 people from various cities and regions of Russia and from the state-participants CIS. The theme of Conference of this year was “Historical and cultural traditions and innovative transformations of Russia. Educational responsibility of libraries”. The conference presented a unique book project on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of M.V. Lomonosov – “Lomonosovskaya Library”.

The article is devoted to L.I. Strakhovsky (alias Leonid Chatsky; 1898—1963), a Russian writer and poet of the first wave of emigration, and his poetry and prose reflected in foreign publications of his works in Russian. Returning to our culture the name of this author, now half-forgotten in his homeland, and introducing this name into literary studies, the article tries to reveal the thematic and stylistic diversity of L.I. Strakhovsky’s poetry and prose. The research’s object is foreign publications of L.I. Strakhovsky’s artistic works in separate books, almanacs and periodicals published in Belgium, Germany, Canada and identified through collection catalogues of leading Russian libraries (the Russian State library, the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russia Abroad) and library resources that display foreign Russian-language publications by L.I. Strakhovsky. The article highlights and analyzes the main stylistic (symbolism, acmeism, “junior acmeism”) and thematic (autobiographical, English, mystical) components of L.I. Strakhovsky’s works, reveals the components’ individual features, the originality of their constancy and mutual influence. The main of these features is that L.I. Strakhovsky’s works can be stylistically periodized on the basis of the author’s increased propensity to cyclize his works though without creative evolution in the usual sense and with the stable nature of his working throughout his life. To review the publications and analyze the nature of L.I. Strakhovsky’s works, the article draws on the context of Russian and emigrant literature of his era, creatively associated with L.I. Strakhovsky and its main figures, and notes his literary and cultural influence.

The present article is dedicated to the problems of the organization and planning of scientific and research work of students of the University in English classes, gives grounds for the purposes and tasks of such competence-forming activity as part of the “Oriental studies” speciality program, the Russian State University for the Humanities. The article analyzes these competences, as well as forms and methods of their formation and development. The author presents demarcation of scientific knowledge and gives its characteristics: using most general qualities of a subject, objective reasoning, argumentativeness, results verifiability and reproducibility, consistency, practicality, capability to change, anticipating the future, making forecasts, methodological reflection. The author tried to analyze the reflexive component of scientific and research work of students in more detail. The article presents possible reflexive positions in the interaction between the teacher and the student and shows the dynamics of this interaction, i.e. gives a hierarchy of positions which the student can occupy in the educational process depending on how independent they are in their activity. The article also highlights the content of scientific and research work of students of the University in English classes on the basis of work with foreign texts in the macro-discourse for the “Oriental studies” speciality. The given foundations of the organization and content of scientific and research work of students have been regularly used in English language classes, as well as in optional forms of scientific activity. The students have shown good results and passion for this kind of work, which confirms the correctness of this approach.

In this article, the author sets out to investigate the principles of teaching schoolchildren how to work with word concepts during Russian language and literature lessons, including distinction between the lexical meaning of the word and the concept, creation of the image of a word concept (on the example of the concept "face"), visualisation of concepts, textocentrism. The identification of these principles is based on the analysis of scientific publications and accumulated pedagogical experience. The concluding part of the article correlates classroom activities of working with word concepts with the content of Russian state exams in the 9th and 11th forms.

Professor Lyudmila Lapteva made a significant contribution to the Slavic Studies in Russia. Many of her students became renowned historians, so one can talk about the phenomenon of «Lapteva’s school». The conference in question became one more proof of it.
