India as an emerging economy deals with troubles in literacy due to factors like shortage of quality academic institutions and unsuitable curriculum. Digital Technology is accredited as something which can bridge the gap between quality institutions and individuals and make learning more engaging.Indian Government has made use of technology in the best possible way and launched Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA)‡ under its Digital India initiative. It has been initiated to make at least one individual from each household digitally literate so that they develop the skills which will be needed to link with the rapidly growing digital world. This scheme aims to target the rural population including the disparaged sections of society like minorities, Below Poverty Line (BPL), women and differently-abled people.The use of technology in education has transmuted the whole system of education. This paper is aimed at exploring the changing state of literacy in India after introducing PMGDISHA.* Prime Minister Rural Digital Literacy Mission

The development of the digital world can be used to further enhance the ability to find, use, summarize, evaluate, create and communicate information using digital technology. Digital literacy also with digital information literacy is the ability to understand and use information from a variety of digital sources. This article was motivated by difficulties in the implementation of student literacy and PEDAGOGY at the University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. The fact of the current internet users has increased and the majority of the teenager. Internet usage by teenagers vary, not just used to looking for academic information, but also to build relationships through social networking sites. Therefore, this article will discuss the reality of the implementation of digital literacy in FKIP University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo.

The digital world has taken over the traditional ways of communicating. Because of the need to view information and relay the information in a quick yet simple way, communicating through digital technology is the wave of the future. Students are captivated by digital technology and it seems to be an active way to promote learning and or concepts that might have been difficult to relay without the influence of digital technology. Any information used on a computer or disseminated on a computer is known as digital technology. Digital technology can enhance the level of creativity and distribution of information (Digital Literacy, www.icliteracy.info). The purpose of this effort is as follows: 1) give a basic review of the literature on mentoring and digital technology; 2) provide mentoring experiences that relay effective mentoring styles; 3) promote a discussion on the uniqueness of each mentoring experience; and 4) discuss implications and recommendations to enhance learning.

This project explores how lower class individuals living in a small rural Japanese community employ digital media in their daily lives and how this use of technology shapes their sense of self. Drawing from ethnographic research, it considers the locally specific ways in which individuals have embraced digital technology and how the technology’s “imagined affordances” intersect with their cultural, regional, and class identities, both locally and in relationship to national and global contexts. It argues that despite community members’ active use of digital technology, numerous barriers (both imagined and actual) continue to limit their ability to fully engage in digital culture and discusses how these barriers lead to a sense of simultaneous connection and disconnection from both urban contexts and an imagined global community. It concludes that more carefully situated local accounts of digital praxis are a necessary step toward developing a deeper understanding of the digital world.

The article conceptualizes the problem of the place and the role of technology in the life of humanity and its significance in today’s society. The analysis is based on the plays written in the 2000’s by Jesus Campos Garcia, one of the most beloved modern Spanish playwrights. Campos Garcia’s theatre is always closely linked to relevant socio-cultural problems and represents the playwright’s comprehensive introspection towards how specific the influence of modern technology – primarily digital technology – on modern life is; his self-consciousness. An exemplary work in this respect is his existential drama “Naufragar en Internet” (1999) followed by Campos Garcia’s essay “La tecnología como metáfora” (2004), in which, early into the era of active computerization he addresses the questions of the correlation between the real and the virtual; the influence of technology on everyday life and the opening up of possibilities; the existential fears and aspirations of humanity – the fear of non-existence, thirst for immortality, etc. – reflected in modern technology. The present topic is further developed in the playwright’s later works (“[email protected]” 2008; “...y la casa crecía”, 2016).

Introduction. Information literacy and digital literacy skills have become increasingly important capabilities in the digital world, as such it is of the utmost importance to assess how individual’s literacy skills impact people’s intention to use digital technology. Method. In this paper, based on the current literature, we design our research and through an empirical study conducted in Finland and Italy, we examine how these skills impact the decision of university students to use digital technology. Analysis. Data was analysed through a novel method (fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis). Results. The fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis results show that students in these two countries differ from one another and factors influencing the intention to use digital technology vary among students. For Finnish students’ digital literacy and for Italian students’ information literacy were important factors. Conclusions. The results of this paper contribute to the information and digital literacy research and provide unique insights and practical implications.

With the onset of the digital era, the classroom's teaching and learning process has also shifted. The use of technology makes it easy for lecturers and students to access various information and references on the internet. However, not all of the information and concerns come from reliable and credible sources, so it is necessary to select and sort out the references used. This research's background determines students' ability to find and utilize and evaluate the credibility of information to be used in their writing. Although most students can use digital technology in their daily lives, they have difficulty determining whether the articles or texts from the internet come from credible sources or just subjective opinions that are not strong enough to be used as references in the 2018 class. Students' skills have an impact on the search for reference sources when they write scientific papers. The preliminary observations on students of 2018 and 2019 have shown that some students stated that they were very familiar with information technology and accessed the internet skillfully. Some had difficulty finding the required references. The output of this research is a guide for checking the credibility of references and articles published in journals so that the public can refine the findings of this study by providing contributive input. If the results are positive, it means that they can be applied to other courses in other classes as well.

Indonesia has recognized the growing demand for information technology, with the most rapid adoption of this technology being amongst its young people. Within the perspective of a balanced knowledge information society, the adoption of technology is crucial for improving social development in developing countries and is considered a particularly important tool in education. The education sector is well-placed to harness the potential of ICT for the millennial generation in these societies. Based on a survey of students enrolled in a university in Jakarta, this study attempts to identify the learning and development opportunities available through digital technology by exploring both how university students in Indonesia use this technology, and how they experience and perceive the benefits of digital learning. In particular, we examine how their access to and use of technology is associated with their digital literacy and their perceived usefulness of ICT. In general, Indonesian university students are actively engaged in a number of diverse activities online, including educational activities, which in turn result in increased online learning outcomes. A better understanding of the role of digital literacy and learning environments and effective use of technology for learning can provide important insights into education and technology use in Indonesia and similar contexts.

Educational use of technology is regularly assessed, and results often show a gap between educational policies and what is actually practiced. This chapter will help clarify how teacher educators experience the changing educational contexts due to the digital revolution, how their meaning-making shifts, and how outside forces influence those processes. The results are based on comparative international studies. Central for this study is practitioners’ professional digital competence, their attitudes towards digital technology and the use of digital technology in education. We found that the influence and contribution of digital practice is carried out quite differently across the globe. Our research questions were: How do practitioners experience teaching in a rapidly changing context? How do attitudes change due to top-down governing of education? and What motivates teacher educators to implement digital technology?
