Antecedents of Family Conflict in Uganda

The purpose of this study was to explore the antecedents of family conflict in Uganda. A qualitative approach was used in this study. A sample size of 139 participants provided data which was subjected to content analysis. Results revealed that the core themes associated with family conflict are finances and priority of resources. Further findings show that differences in tastes and interests, selfishness and lack of communication played a key role as causes of family conflicts. The implication of this study is that finances and priority of resources are antecedents of family conflict in the context of Uganda. Therefore, the antecedents of family conflict that emerged from this study can be understood, defined and analyzed through the lens of social identity theory. Future research may include conducting quantitative studies with a particular demographic using the themes that have emerged from this study.

       This study examines codes of conduct of women in carrying out their life according to the Qurtubi text by TGH. Alimuddin Praya West Nusa Tenggara.  As the Islamic text from which values of women conducts based on hadits and the exemplars of Siti Fatimah, the daughter of the Muhammad Prophet, the text has been referenced as the core value of teaching for the society.  This study used content analysis where themes and constructs of morale were focused from the text. The study used is a qualitative approach with descriptive analytical method, namely a method that expresses the actual situation in the text. Data were collected using documentation techniques, interviews and content analysis.  The results show the code of conduct of women is conveyed through dialogue and actions experienced by the character depicted in the TGH Qurtubi text of Alimuddin Praya Lombok West Nusa Tenggara. The description of the action includes three codes, namely: 1) codes of conduct of women that depict social goodness, 2) codes of conduct of women that describe acts of conflict, and 3) codes of conduct of women that describe the attitude of guard and maintain.  This teaching implies that codes of conduct of the women indicate the attitude to develop understanding, actions or the nature of maintaining positive norms that are not contrary to the values ​​of religion, culture or customs that apply.

Aims: The critical task of positively identifying membership of the communities with which we work prior to initiating programs of research purporting to represent said communities is often forgone and treated as self-evident. This study demonstrates undertaking this task at the outset of a program of research by gathering member self-definitions of a relational, online and face-to-face community- the Fighting Game Community.Methods: Borrowing from social identity theory in social psychology, this study uses a prototypic approach and thematic content analysis with 319 open-ended descriptions of “good players” and “bad player” deviants.Results: In general, having a growth mindset and winning games were the most crucial amongst divergent themes. Of equal interest, definitions were not consensual across the community; some directly conflicted with one another. These definitions represented a community with fuzzy boundaries, that exists more as a multi-layered tapestry than a black-and-white unit with sharply delineated boundaries.

The Covid-19 pandemic outbreak had a devastating effect on the economic sector in Indonesia, especially in the tourism sector. This study aims to reveal the impact Covid-19 on the Indonesia tourism sector especially the virtual hotel operation.  This research uses a qualitative approach and content analysis as data mapping of Indonesia online media content. Nvivo-12 plus software is used to manage and analyze the data. The results of this research pandemic covid 19 outbreaks have an impact on the economy of Indonesia and affect startup virtual hotel operations (especially Airy rooms) to the point of closing operations in Indonesia. This research provides some insight into future research opportunities in the new normal conditions in tourism sector operation

This research aimed to analyze the relevance of dismissal of friday prayers in circular letter of south sulawesi governor number: 451.11 / 2057/2020 during covid-19 pandemic from the perspective of maqāṣid al-syarī’ah. This research is library research using a qualitative approach and content analysis techniques. The results of the research conclude that the substance of the circular letter is relevant to the principle of maqāṣid al-syarī’ah which is the core philosophy of the formation of Islamic law in presenting the benefit of mankind in the world and the hereafter, both from the aspect of maqāṣid al-kulliyyah (universal) and maqāṣid al-juz'iyyah (partial) especially maqāṣid in obeying a leader. Therefore, the emergence of the phenomenon of counter attitudes from some people and even preachers towards the policy should not occur.

Purpose When plans fail, the form of making it happen leads to improvisation in practice, which is not sufficiently approached yet in the project management (PM) field. The main reason for the lack of research is that improvisation is predominantly seemed in a negative perspective. Due to the relevance of improvisation in the PM field, the purpose of this paper is to investigate how and why improvisation is applied in the PM context. This research address two questions: which are the key topics and studies linked with improvisation in the PM context?: how do the origin factors and the purpose influence improvisation in PM context? Design/methodology/approach A systematic literature review was carried out through the merging of bibliometric analysis and content analysis. The systematic literature review aims to identify and synthesize the research on the theme, applying structured, transparent and replicable procedures for each phase of the process. These studies focus mainly on the identification of literature standards based on publication reviews. The sampling process follows the flow summarized in Figure 1. The searching process was based on two selected databases, the Web of Science and Scopus. The search strings applied were: (improvisation OR bricolage) AND “project management.” Findings The evolution of publications has shown the existence of a growing interest in the articles relating to improvisation and PM in recent years. The literature on improvisation in the PM context, allows to identify the key related constructs, origin factors and purposes. It also identifies the core relation among these constructs. The understanding of the effect of origin factors on the key related constructs was achieved. Improvisation appears not only as a strategy for adapting when dealing with urgent demands, but also as a team skill. Research limitations/implications As a limitation related to the research methods adopted, their exploratory nature is acknowledged, implying some subjectivity in the content analysis of the surveyed sample. The databases, search strings and selection criteria may also have narrowed the research sample. This study shows a lack of research on knowledge management, experience and resilience that can be a drive for future research. Other interesting insights for future research are that some origin factors are more related with some related constructs than others. Practical implications As practical implications, project practitioners can better understand how improvisation is related to PM. The results can bring insights to professionals such as to explore improvisation in uncertainty and complex environments, and to improve aspects like adaptation, intuition and innovation needs. Improvisation can be understood as a way to improve project results considering that it is a mechanism of management in the face of the inherent environment pressure and is related to ones who have experience and is not necessarily a consequence of lack of planning. Originality/value This paper contributes to the current literature in two ways. First, there is in-depth understanding of the literature on improvisation in the PM context, which allows to identify the key related constructs, origin factors and purposes. Moreover, it identifies the core relation among these constructs. Second, understanding of the effect of origin factors on the key related constructs was achieved.

We argue that environmental communication within the Malaysian media landscape is influenced by Islamic beliefs and teachings. Although Islam has a great influence on environmental communication in Malaysia, it is an area underexplored by past studies. We conducted a content analysis on two mainstream Malay media outlets, namely Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian, for a six-year period (2012-2017) in order to investigate the types of Islamic values which were represented in the environmental articles published by both newspapers. We also conducted interviews with 11 journalists from both newspapers to determine the purpose of using Islamic values in environmental articles. The result of content analysis discovered that tawhid (unity of God) is the most common Islamic value used in Utusan Malaysia’s environmental articles, while in Berita Harian, iman (faith) is the value which most commonly appears. In the interviews, journalists from Utusan Malaysia described that the value of tawhid is used the most in the environmental articles as it is one of the core values in Islam, while the journalists from Berita Harian explained that iman has been used the most as this value is an intrinsic part of the readers’ lives. However, most of the interviewees stated that the main challenge for them came from the need of the journalists themselves to have a great understanding of both Islam and environment. It is hoped that the findings of this study could serve as a reference for future research in the area of Islamic environmental communication. This chapter describes the need for and development of a taxonomy of workplace diversity. It also examines the taxonomy’s implications for understanding and predicting diversity outcomes at work. The context of diversity research is described, along with a problem the field is facing concerning consensus for a practical, operational definition. A seven-dimension taxonomy grounded in Social Identity Theory was developed by reviewing contemporary literature on diversity in the workplace. Preliminary research found that each of the seven dimensions of the taxonomy were present in 78 critical incidents describing work-relevant diversity scenarios. An instrument, the Workplace Diversity Inventory, has been developed and administered in order to empirically examine the seven-factor model of the taxonomy. Implications and directions for future research are discussed.
