Thirty-two TWC QPM hybrids were selected based on genotype × environment (G × E) interaction and stability. The experiment was conducted in three locations with differing conditions. TWC QPM hybrids were tested under nitrogen deficient and nitrogen sufficient fertilization at the Padjadjaran University Faculty of Agriculture Experimental Station, Jatinangor, Sumedang from March until July 2004. Another set of TWC QPM hybrids was tested under sufficient nitrogen fertilization at a high altitude location in Pangalengan from June until October 2004. Each experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with two replications with 32 TWC QPM hybrids and two check cultivars, i.e. Bisi-2 and Pioneer-7. Bartlett’s homogeneity test was applied to error derived from analyses of variances of every location. Combined analysis was done since error was homogenous for all observed characters. The combined analysis showed that there was G × E interaction for seed weight per 10 plants. Preliminary METs in West Java successfully selected newly developed TWC QPM hybrids based on stability and interaction between G × E. These hybrids are QPDMR-8-BCP1 and QPDMR-8-BCP2 for wide adaptive cultivars and QPDMR-35-BCP1, QPDMR-26-BCP1, QPDMR-8-BCP1, QPDMR-1-BCP2, QPDMR-8-BCP2, QPDMR-10-BCP2 and QPDMR-15-BCP2 specific adaptive cultivars.

Establishing and maintaining turfgrass in the shade is one of the most challenging problems facing turfgrass managers and home owners. A greenhouse study was initiated to determine the shade tolerance of centipedegrass [Eremochloa ophiuroides (Munro.) Hack.], carpetgrass [Axonopus affinis Chase], and selected St. Augustinegrass [Stenotaphrum secundatum (Walt.) Kuntze] cultivars (`Floratam', `FX-10', `Seville', and `TR 6-10'). Plants were grown under artificial shade (85% polypropylene shade cloth) and full sun. Actual percent shade (%shade={PAR under shade/PAR under sun}*100) was determined by measuring photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) under shade cloth and full sun adjacent to the shade structure using a quantum sensor. Pots were arranged in a completely randomized block design with four replications. All turfgrasses, except `TR 6-10', had a significant reduction in total dry weight in the shade compared to those in the sun. `TR 6-10' had the highest root, leaf, and total dry weight in the shade. `FX-10' had the lowest root, leaf, and total dry weight in the shade. Plants grown under the shade treatment compared to those in the sun resulted in an average decrease in stolon number of 13 and in total stolon length of 170 cm. In the shade, `Floratam' and `Seville' had the longest stolon internode lengths, while `Floratam' had the longest in the sun. There were significant differences for leaf length between the shade and sun treatments, except for carpetgrass and `FX-10'. `Floratam' and `FX-10' had differences in leaf width between the sun and shade.

Background: Sunnhemp is a very important green manuring crop. The crop is utilized for various purposes like reducing soil erosion, improving soil properties and recycling plant nutrients. The knowledge regarding the crop is still not exploited, due to lack of research in this crop. So, the present study was conducted to know the extent of genetic diversity present in the crop. From the divergence analysis, it may be concluded that the genotypes belonging to different clusters separated by high estimated statistical distance may be used in the hybridization programme for developing high green biomass yielding sunnhemp varieties. Methods: A field experiment was conducted at the research farm of Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari, Gujarat with thirty sunnhemp genotypes to know the extent of genetic diversity by D2 analysis in a randomized block design during late Kharif 2017.Result: The analysis was conducted for D2 analysis and was concluded from D2 analysis that, the characters viz., days to 50% flowering, fresh weight of root nodules per plant, fresh weight of plant, root nodules per plant, leaf length, root length, dry weight of root nodules per plant, C: N ratio, internodes per plant, plant height and stem diameter contributed towards the genetic divergence. Traits like primary branches per plant and leaf area didn’t contribute towards genetic divergence. The thirty genotypes were grouped into seven clusters following Tocher’s method (Rao, 1952). The cluster III was largest having eleven genotypes. Cluster IV and cluster II was second largest which contained seven and five genotypes respectively. Cluster I and cluster V contained three and two genotypes respectively Cluster VI and VII had only one genotype. The intra cluster distance was more in cluster III and the inter cluster distance was maximum between cluster V and cluster VII.

Abstract Medicinal plants often used is pegagan (Centella asiatica). Due to the benefits of pegagan, it is important to know the growth of this plant in detail, in this case, the growth of tendrils, which is, of course, related to biomass production. Plant materials are needed that are guaranteed production levels and quality by applying recommended cultivation. This study was proposed to understand the influence of phosphorus on the growth of pegagan tendrils. This research was conducted using a single factor with six levels of P2O5 fertilizer dosage with a non-factorial randomized block design repeated 3 times. The 6 levels of fertilizer dosage are 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 kg P2O5/ha. The treatment of phosphorus (F) at 3-12 WAP did not reveal a prominent influence on the number of the primary tendrils; however, phosphorus's application affects the growth component of the primary tendril length in acid soil conditions. Pegagan can still grow well even though the land conditions are very acidic.
