Media must get control in order that the practice is not authoritative. In the context, when it is defined in on individualist form, it tends to produce information without considering the norm. In the individualist characteristic, the information spread massively with the tendency for thick interest. To find out literacy activities in this chaotic era, research was designed using qualitative descriptive methods to uncover the minds of literacy avtivists in the information chaos era.  The aim is to find out the form of literacy in accordance with the chaotic conditions of information and literacy activities in growing public awareness in information management. The results showed that literacy forms were carried out through the introduction of media (media knowledge) concerning the credibility of the media and recognizing the nature of mainstream and non-mainstream media. Another form is digital literacy and management of public information. Meanwhile, to raise public awareness is done by producing digital content in anticipation of hoax news, making fact check content, media practices through radio broadcasts and websites, introduction to news construction.

Today’s societies live in a world where the media construct reality, which also affects each individual media user. Children and their parents spend most of their time with digital media and contents. Therefore, researchers emphasize the importance of digital literacy of media users. They analyse new phenomena, challenges and risks associated with the anthropological, cognitive and social development of children and young people. An important role in media and digital education is played not only by teachers and schools, but also by parents and family. The aim of this paper is to present and analyse the theoretical approaches to digital media literacy, so-called digital parenting, and to interpret the results of the latest research in Croatia devoted to the digital habits of parents, their attitudes towards parental mediation strategies as well as to their satisfaction with the programmes of media literacy in the education system.

Internationally, the level of public awareness of carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) technology remains low. The mainstream media have a salient influence in shaping the debate on CCS's implementation and its risks. This paper presents the results of analysis of print media coverage of CCS worldwide between August 2009 and June 2010. A total of 1138 articles from the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum were reviewed and analysed. The majority of these articles were balanced or neutral in tone and lacking in technical detail. Fifteen key themes were identified. Two of these emerged the most frequently across all sources: CCS pilot and demonstration projects, and funding issues. This suggests a pattern of media curiosity over how financial support for CCS is provided and what results are occurring at pilot and demonstration efforts. Cross-regional key risks included: Time, cost, and implementation issues; technical validity; and storage capacity issues.

The scientific article contains a survey on digital media literacy of Universitas Airlangga students which was conducted with the aim of knowing the understanding of students from all universities in Indonesia regarding digital media, and to find out how high the individual level of competence of students in Indonesia is in digital media literacy, as well as to find out the factors what influences the level of competent individuals regarding digital media literacy. This research was conducted using a descriptive survey method and using descriptive statistical data analysis techniques to analyze the research data. The results of the study revealed that: 1). The understanding of students in Indonesia regarding digital literacy is in the medium category, 2). The competent individual level of Indonesian students in digital media literacy is at the basic level, 3). The factors that influence the level of competent individuals related to digital media literacy are mainly family environmental factors.

Abstrak:Media massa mengalami perkembangan yang pesat, selain menyampaikan informasi kepada masyarakat media juga memiliki tugas mendidik publik melalui literasi media. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat peranan program reporter on campus dalam upaya menumbuhkembangkan literasi media khususnya di kalangan mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa program reporter on campus sangat menunjang kemampuan mahasiswa baik dalam aspek teoritis maupun aplikatif.Kata Kunci: Radio, Reporter on Campus, Mahasiswa JurnalistikAbstract: The mass media experienced development fastly, in addition to conveying information to the media community also had the task of educating the public through media literacy. Using qualitative descriptive method, this study aims to see the role of on campus reporter program in an effort to develop media literacy, especially among students. Digital technology is becoming increasingly enmeshed in the everyday practices of cooking and eating (see Lewis 2018; Kirkwood 2018). In negotiating the increasingly complex web of culinary information online users need to remain vigilant about the voices and perspectives they turn to for food and nutrition advice. In examining which online sources are trustworthy, this paper adds to the scholarship that highlights how the growing industrialisation of food negatively impacted food literacy (Pollan 2006; Vileisis 2008). In relation to digital food media, Lewis (2018, 214) argues that “food citizens increasingly require a critical media literacy…”. This is important considering that consumers are more likely to turn to the media than nutrition professionals for advice (Contois and Day 2018, 16). This paper builds on Lewis’ (2018) calls for greater critical media literacy Through textual analysis of online news and popular commentary, this paper examines the two Australian case studies of Australian celebrity chef Pete Evans and fraudulent wellness advocate Belle Gibson. These examples highlight risks associated with online culinary information and provide contrasting perspectives on credibility and trustworthiness. Evans leverages mainstream media exposure and experience as a chef to establish credibility for his online channels where he explores his alternative culinary views more extensively. Gibson’s reputation meanwhile was established through achieving grassroots fame online for supposedly beating cancer through shunning conventional treatments. Understanding how trustworthiness or authority is established and negotiated, and particularly how these characteristics work between legacy and online media are important in developing critical media literacy around food.

Internet memes are now part of mainstream media culture. On social media, each day memes are created, consumed, and shared by millions of people. Advertising agencies create their own memes to promote brands and products. However, memes are also integral to subcultures on 4chan, Reddit, and Tumblr, where most memes originate from. These subcultures battle the mainstreamization of memes to protect the independent media making practice of memeing from outsiders, who they call ‘normies.’ Their weapon of choice are so-called ‘dank memes,’ which are self-reflexive internet memes that criticize mainstream memes and memeing. This critique is a form of visual vernacular criticism, which is highly understudied, especially in regard to digital metapictures such as dank memes. The question this paper wants to answer is: how are dank memes made and employed to reclaim the independent media making practice of memeing from mainstream and marketing culture? The focus lies on specific pictorial practices that counteract the popularization and commercialization of internet memes. To explore these counter-practices, the paper proposes a methodology that combines media philosophy with practice theory to stress that digital metapictures themselves such as dank memes hold knowledge about the media practices that mainstream memes are made of, and about how to counteract them. To explore this media knowledge, examples of the meta-meme $2 are closely examined in the context of the subreddit r/dankmemes. The conducted picture practice analysis suggests that dank memes oppose image macros, while being criticized themselves as mere shibboleths to meme culture.

The purpose of this study is to increase the interest in reading from the problem of low interest in reading in grade 2 elementary students, with several factors of problems from low interest in reading and low reading skills of students are still lacking, the rise of types of entertainment such as playing games and watching TV so as to influence the attention of students choosing not to read. Researcher develop digital literacy learning media based on educational games by developing students to be able to play puzzles and read. With the media design created by Researcher, namely the collaboration between writing, images, and sounds, it is very important in communication and conveying messages to students, if students still do not know the word, they can see pictures and sounds that can help children in visualizing stories in reading. Researcher designed this media so that students can be interested and motivated and more enjoyable in digital literacy. Researcher used a type of development research (R&D) and a qualitative descriptive approach to percentage. For data analysis techniques that have been conducted consists of preliminary studies, product development, validity tests and conclusion drawing. The results of this study after analysis of the data of the assessment of material expert validation test by 100% and media experts by 84.2%, with the results have been qualified and eligible to be tested after improvement according to the advice of experts.

This article discusses how media convergence, as a new era of media in welcoming the industrial revolution, is not working properly. The purpose of this study is to explain how the media today still often create content with profit priority. By using Vincent Mosco's political economy theory and case studies on local media with national networks, the author tries to unravel how the media performs its functions. As a result, even though the media has developed more advanced with the era of digital media, the media is still often used for political interests or other interests through the titles or news content they make. To anticipate this, the general public should equip themselves with the capabilities of media literacy and digital literacy, so that they  cannot choose a media that is suitable for consumption in the era of industrial revolution 4.0 where the media has developed into digital domain.

Together with the growing level of the digitalization in the field of multimedia, also convergence of media, information and digital literacy have been growing up. In case of the traditional mass media, it was important to have skills to use the media content in a critical, aware and selective way. Nevertheless, in the era of the Internet and extended availability of information in the digital form, the importance of information and digital technologies literacy also grows. It regards to some extent the technical ability to use particular technological solutions, but also forming aware and active consumers and authors of the media content. The main goal of this paper is researching the relation between forming the media literacy as a component of human capital, and the realization the European Union’s targets in the area of building a knowledge-based economy. On the basis of the subject-matter literature and other source materials a hypothesis, which classifies the media education as a key process during creating a single European information space, shall be verified. In the first part of the paper, the author concentrates on presenting the dependence between human, personal and social capital. Next, on the basis of the European definition of media literacy, the author examines capabilities of achieving progress in the field of media education in terms of the present European audiovisual policy.

The article is devoted to an overview of the structure and educational content of online courses on the Prometheus platform, which used for increasing level of info-media literacy of users.It is noted that the rapid technological and information development of society increases the ability of society to exchange information between participants in communication, the formation of new relationships between users, access to large amounts of data. It was found that the consumer often forms an idea of the real world with the help of the media. However, the information offered to him is not always true, which has negative influence to thoughts and behavior of the consumer. Therefore, the realities of the information society actualized purpose for acquiring special competencies related to a critical attitude to information. Modern man must be able to search for the necessary information, recognize fakes, be resistant to manipulative influences.Media education helps to solve the problem of increasing the level of media literacy among consumers of information. It was found that this category is a necessary component of the educational process in higher education, is implemented through appropriate technologies and tools, training and electronic educational resources.One of the means of media education is the platform of mass open online courses. It was found that Ukrainian-language educational platforms provide the principle of open education, are free and accessible to any user.The article reviews three media literacy courses on the Prometheus online platform. Describes the structure and analyzes the educational content of the courses «Media Literacy: Practical Skills», «Media Literacy for Educators», «Access to Public Information: from A to Z». It is noted that they all contain different educational material, provide testing, viewing video lectures lasting 5-15 minutes, have the same navigation bar. After successfully passing the tests for each of the courses, you can get an electronic certificate.In the future, we expect to obtain and analyze empirical data on the impact of online media literacy courses on the level of info-media literacy of higher education students.
