The ability of mathematical connections possessed by students can be seen from the ability of students to compile math problems. This study aims to determine the type of mathematical connection made by elementary school students in problem-posing activities. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method. The participants were 34 fifth grade students (male =16 female =18) of one of the public elementary schools in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara. Data were collected from the results of student work and interviews. The analysis was carried out qualitatively according to the indicators of the complexity of the problem through problem posing learning. The results showed that there were four types of mathematical problems and their relatedness that occurred in student problem-posing activities, including (1) unsolvable math problems, (2) incorrectly solved math problems, (3) neglected math problems contextual information, and (4) mathematical problems that have complexity and relevance. Based on these results, it can be recommended for further research to determine strategies to improve students' mathematical connections in problem-posing activities.

Many students in elementary school make mistakes when solving math problems, especially misconceptions. This is caused by a lack of mathematical material understanding, students are lazy to open mathematics books or notes, and students are lazy to do assignments given by the teacher. This study aims to analyze the mistakes of fifth grade elementary school students in solving HOTS math’s problems based on Newman. This type of research in this research is qualitative research. The data collection techniques include tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study were data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of the study, the mistakes made by fifth grade students of SDN 02 Mojorejo Kota Madiun were reading errors, comprehension errors, transformation errors, process skill errors, and answer errors. end (encoding error). The most frequent mistakes made were misunderstanding and process skills errors. Some of the factors that cause students to make mistakes are students who are not familiar with HOTS math problems, students do not write down what is known and asked from the questions, lack of mastery on the material of volume shapes, and students are not careful in answering math questions

Purpose: This study describes the development of a violence prevention educational program for elementary school children using empathy (VPEP-E) that teachers can use during class. Methods: Hoffman's theory of empathy and Seels and Richey's (1994) ADDIE model were applied to develop this program. Results: The developed program consisted of eight sessions: "Orientation/definition of violence and empathy", "Types and boundaries of violence", "Look into my feelings", "Say it with a facial expression", "Preventing non-empathic violence due to social prejudice", "Preventing physical violence", "Verbal and online violence prevention: empathic conversation", and "I can do well: review of the whole curriculum". The program was evaluated by 15 elementary school teachers, who considered it to be easily accessible to elementary school students. The final VPEP-E, which will be provided in eight times for 40 minutes each for fifth-grade students, will provide a basis for preventing violence by fostering empathy. Conclusion: We expect the developed educational program to be effective in preventing violence among elementary school students. However, further research involving children from various age groups is needed.

AbstractThis study was motivated by the importance of mathematical connection ability for elementary school students. It was necessary to develop an instrument that suitable the indicators of mathematical connection ability to understand the students' mathematical connection ability. The goal of this research was to develop an appropriate mathematical connection ability instrument for primary school students. This study was applied using Research and Development. The participants were 34 third-grade students at an elementary school in Purwakarta, SDN Nagrikaler, chosen through purposive sampling. The instrument was an essay test consisting of six open questions about whole numbers. The indicators developed in composing questions were related to the mathematical connection ability, namely connections inter topics in mathematics, other subjects, and everyday life. The questions were made beforehand in the expert judgment, then tested to see the validity, reliability, difficulty index, and discrimination power index. The validity test analysis indicated that six items on the instrument were valid, the reliability of the test instruments was very high. Meanwhile, the difficulty level was classified as difficult and moderate, and the discrimination power was also categorized as good and very good criteria. Thus, those six developed questions could be applied to measure mathematical connections in the topic of operations of whole numbers for second-grade elementary school students and were suitable for further research instruments on similar subjects and variables even at different times and places.AbstrakPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan koneksi matematis bagi siswa sekolah dasar.
