ABSTRACT Theobald first described Culex nigripalpus in 1901 from St. Lucia Island of the Lesser Antilles. It is a Neotropical mosquito species that is documented throughout Central and South America, the Caribbean, and the southeastern USA. Reports within the last 3 decades show the species has expanded its range farther into North America and is not only being discovered sporadically but appears to be establishing itself in several states, of which data are underreported and difficult to find. Five female specimens were collected—4 on October 13 and 1 on December 6, 2017—at 3 separate sites in the city of Suffolk, VA—2 in a BG-Sentinel 2® trap, 3 in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention light traps—during routine mosquito surveillance; subsequent collections were made in 2019 and 2020. These findings represent the 1st record of Cx. nigripalpus in the state of Virginia and the most northeastern records in the USA. An updated mosquito species checklist for the state of Virginia is provided. Additionally, this report serves to update the records of North Carolina to 28 total counties reporting Cx. nigripalpus. These new records, along with other reports and published studies, show this species now documented in 201 jurisdictions in 16 states of the USA. As recent literature on this species is scarce, we provide a review of the bionomics, defining morphological characters, and an updated US distribution map.

ABSTRACT Collections of mosquitoes were conducted for the surveillance of species of medical importance in the state of Morelos, Mexico, in June 2017. Species collected included Mansonia (Mansonia) dyari, which was identified using morphological characters and cytochrome c oxidase I DNA barcoding. Although 3 species of genus Mansonia have been previously reported in Mexico, this is the 1st confirmed record of Ma. dyari in Morelos State, where no Mansonia species had been recorded. Historical records of Ma. dyari and Ma. indubitans in Mexico were reviewed. Therefore, this record increases the number of mosquito species occurring in Morelos to 46. The specimens collected in this study were deposited in the Culicidae collection of the Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro, Unidad Laguna.

This study provides the first record of Uroderma magnirostrum Davis, 1968 from the state of Sergipe in the Brazilian northeast, based on the capture of two specimens, one male and one female. The morphometric data and morphological characters were consistent with those recorded for the species at other Brazilian sites. This record extends the distributional range of the species within South America approximately 220 km eastwards.

An entomological survey was carried out in the municipalities of Juchique de Ferrer and Colipa in the north-central area of the State of Veracruz, Mexico, where some human cutaneous leishmaniasis cases have been recorded. These sampling efforts were undertaken to identify potential vectors of Leishmania species in that area. A total of 123 specimens were obtained, corresponding to one species of the Bruchomyiinae genus Nemapalpus Macquart, and six species of the Phlebotominae genus Lutzomyia França. Additional morphological characters of the poorly known male of Nemapalpus dampfianus Alexander and a description of Lutzomyia leohidalgoi sp. nov., based on male and female characteristics, are presented with illustrations. This is the first record from Veracruz of Nemapalpus dampfianus Alexander, Lutzomyia serrana (Damasceno & Arouck) (species group Verrucarum), Lutzomyia (Psathyromyia) cratifer (Fairchild & Hertig), and Lutzomyia (Helcocyrtomyia) oppidana (Dampf). Lutzomyia (Lutzomyia) cruciata (Coquillett) and L. (Psathyromyia) shannoni (Dyar) are anthropophilic species already known from Veracruz.

Here we report the first record of genus Cryptonanus in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. One specimen (MZUSP35409) was captured in an Atlantic Forest fragment and was identified by morphological characters and molecular analysis using cytochrome‑b (MT-CYB) and von Willebrand Factor (VWF). Phylogenetic reconstructions based on VWF sequences positioned our specimen into the genus Cryptonanus, and the shortest genetic distance of MT-CYB was estimated between our specimen and an undescribed specimen from Piauí. Our record increases the genus’ geographic range approximately 350 km from Cotia and Ibiúna municipalities, São Paulo. The genus Cryptonanus remains taxonomically poorly understood.

INTRODUCTION: Knowledge concerning the fauna of Culicidae in the Brazilian Amazon States contributes to current understanding of the bionomics of the insects collected and makes it possible to observe changes in the fauna over time. METHODS: The Culicidae were captured with a BG-Sentinel® trap in extra-domiciliary area of two rural regions of Porto Velho in June and July of 2007 and 2008. RESULTS: A total of 10,695 Culicidae was collected, belonging to nine genera: Coquillettidia, Culex, Mansonia, Psorophora, Aedes, Aedeomyia, Anopheles, Uranotaenia and Wyeomyia. CONCLUSIONS: The presence of Mansonia (Mansonia) flaveola was recorded in the State of Rondônia for the first time.

ABSTRACT During August–November of 2018, mosquito collections were conducted with the intention of monitoring the presence of arboviruses in Durango State, Mexico. Species collected included Psorophora (Janthinosoma) ferox. In Mexico, 24 species of the genus Psorophora have been previously reported, whereas in the state of Durango, only 2 species have been reported: Psorophora (Grabhamia) columbiae and Ps. (Gra.) signipennis. This is the 1st record of Ps. ferox and the subgenus Janthinosoma in Durango. With the addition of Ps. ferox to the list of mosquito species found in Durango, the number of mosquito species occurring in the state stands at 31.

Subject. The military-industrial complex is one of the core industries in any economy. It ensures both the economic and global security of the State. However, the economic security of MIC enterprises strongly depends on the State and other stakeholders. Objectives. We examine key factors of corporate culture in terms of theoretical and practical aspects. The article identifies the best implementation of corporate culture that has a positive effect on the corporate security in the MIC of the USA, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan ans China. Methods. The study employs dialectical method of research, combines the historical and logic unity, structural analysis, traditional techniques of economic analysis and synthesis. Results. We performed the comparative analysis of corporate culture models and examined how they are used by the MIC corporations with respect to international distinctions. Conclusions and Relevance. The State is the main stakeholder of the MIC corporations, since it acts as the core customer represented by the military department. It regulates and controls operations. The State is often a major shareholder of such corporations. Employees are also important stakeholders. Hence, trying to satisfy stakeholders' needs by developing the corporate culture, corporations mitigate their key risks and enhance their corporate security.

The purpose of this article is to describe the conditions in which the Armenian Apostolic Church entered the epoch of the reign of N. S. Khrushchev, which began in 1953. The article can be divided into two parts: first one gives information about the number of parishes in the territory of the Soviet Union and beyond, and about the structure of the Armenian clergy in the USSR; the second one sets out the problems that existed in the Armenian Church and discusses their causes. Research methods - description and analysis. The value of the study lies in the use of previously unpublished documents of the State Archive of the Russian Federation and the National Archive of Armenia. Based on the results of studying the materials, the main problems of the Armenian Apostolic Church in 1953 are: financial deficit, the conflict of Armenian Catholicosates and the eagerness of USSR and the USA, that feuded with each other, to use the Сhurch for their political purposes.
