Non-profit organisation financial failure has been a prevalent problem in developed and developing economies. Such incidences bring adverse effects to the reputation of the non-profit organisation in question and the third sector as a whole, especially if the organisation in question is significantly large in size, leading to possible knock-on effects such as disruption to society, litigation, loss of investor confidence in the economic environment, and a worsening of a country's ranking under the Corruption Perceptions Index. This chapter examines past financial failures amongst non-profits and reviews past literature on attempts to predict non-profit failures before they occur. Finally, it proposes an additional governance-related factor to be taken into consideration when considering potential financial distress amongst non-profit organisations. Suggestions for further research are made accordingly.

The objective of this paper is to set out the key components of a development strategy for Pakistan. A fundamental premise of our analysis is that the world economic environment is changing dramatically and a development strategy today must position itself to take advantage of the changes taking place. The paper is divided into five sections: First, we provide a brief review of Pakistan’s experience with development strategies so far. Next, we discuss the changes that have occurred, or are taking place in the global economy, which have strategic relevance for Pakistan. In the third section we look at the current situation in Pakistan with regard to the potential drivers of growth, based on the earlier discussion of the global developments. In the final section key elements of an alternative development strategy for Pakistan are outlined.

This article deals with probabilistic and statistical modeling of managerial decision-making in the economy based on sample data for the previous periods of time. For better definition, the study is limited to Markowitz’s models in the problem of finding an effective portfolio of the field in the third information situation. The third information situation is a widespread decision-making situation and is characterized by the fact that the decision-maker sets, according to his opinion, are a linear order relation on the components of an unknown probabilistic distribution of the states of the economic environment. Often, from the point of view of the decision-maker, the components of an unknown probability distribution of the states of the economic environment must satisfy a partially reinforced linear order relation. As a result, the use of traditional statistical estimates turns out to be impossible, while the following question arises, which is practically not studied in the scientific literature. In this case, what formulas should be used to find statistical estimates and, above all, estimates of unknown probabilities of the state of the economic environment? As an estimate of an unknown probability distribution, we proposed to use the Fishburne sequence that satisfies all available constraints, while corresponding to the opinion of the decision maker and the linear order relation given by him. Fishburne sequences are a generalization of the well-known Fishburne formulas. It is fundamentally important that any Fishburne sequence satisfies a simple linear order relation, and under certain conditions, a partially strengthened linear order relation. Particular attention is paid to the entropic properties of generalized Fishburne progressions, which represent the most important class of Fishburne sequences, as well as the use of generalized Fishburne progressions to take into account the opinion of the decision maker. Such a scheme for estimating an unknown probability distribution has been developed, which makes it possible to achieve the correctness of probabilistic and statistical modeling, as well as appropriate consideration of the opinion of the decision-maker, uncertainty and risk.

Nowadays, under the great background of increasingly fierce competition and more refined social division of labor, there are more advantages for the furniture enterprises to resort to the third party logistics. In order to improve the development level of the third party logistics, furniture enterprises should provide macro guarantee, determine correct logistics ideas, set up professional third party furniture logistics enterprises, and select appropriate third party logistics mode.

ABSTRACTThis article analyses and contrasts recent attempts by the governments of Britain and France to devise an industrial strategy for the next two decades, prompted by, and in a bid to come to grips with, the uncertain international economic environment. It is in three main parts. The first part comprises a brief resumé of the main features of industrial policy in the two countries over the last two decades. The next section examines the main features of the new industrial strategies being put together in each country, based on the so-called ‘industries of the future’, supplementing (rather than replacing) other forms of selective intervention. The third part discusses the problems involved in attempting to devise and launch strategies based on picking industrial ‘winners’. It suggests that if, as French experience seems to show, technocratic dictatorship is the price of success, this is a price which most industrial democracies would be unwilling to pay.

Abstract The present scientific paper is the third part and continuation of the indepth scientific study of the developed system of engineering economic indicators, where the authors obtain results from the scientific research presented in a series of works on the development of the nanotechnologies and advanced materials industry in science and entrepreneurship in Latvia. Part three determines the crucial scientific indicators of the development of nano-field at the macro, micro, and meso development levels of the economic environment in Latvia. The paper provides the interaction of new identified indicators of nanofield in terms of further scientific and practical activities. Latvia is analysed in comparison with other countries in the world.
