There are various feeding methods of antenna like as coaxial probe, coupling, parasitic elements, and impedance matching. This paper adopted the microstrip line method as the feeding method of the antenna. The high frequency structure simulator is used to analyze the characteristics of the T-shaped microstrip antenna with various patch dimensions. In comparison with the basic microstrip antenna, this proposed T-shaped microstrip antenna with 40.38 % of patch dimensions has the optimum characteristics of resonant frequency, return loss, and radiation pattern at 2.0 GHz band.

Abstract: The evolution of wireless communication system has led path for innovative antenna design specifically in wideband antenna for WiMax application. In this paper design and simulation of microstrip wideband circular patch antenna array operating between 2GHz to 4Ghz is presented. The circular patch antenna is designed to operate at 3GHz line feed and the ground is itched to achieve required wideband characteristics. The simulation is carried out in EM Flow solver, High Frequency Structure Simulator software. For a single patch antenna, the return loss, lesser than -10dB throughout the bandwidth. Later an antenna array is operating between 2GHz to 4GHz frequency is designed and simulated. The return loss is lesser than -12dBi throughout the band and a peak gain is 14.7dBi. Keywords: Microstrip Patch Antenna (MPA), High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS).

Abstract In this study, it is aimed to demonstrate the effects of the feed line position on the operating frequency, return loss and bandwidth of the rectangular patch microstrip antenna. For this purpose, a compact-sized antenna that can operate at 2.4-2.45 GHz frequencies is designed in High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) program. Then, the position of the feedline is changed horizontally and vertically, and its effects are observed. The results obtained after the modificaions are given and discussed. It is stated that the feed line position is a very important parameter that affects the basic characteristics of the antenna.

This paper represents new generation of slotted antennas for satellite application where the loss can be compensated in terms of power or gain of antenna. First option is very crucial because it totally depends on size of satellite so we have proposed the high gain antenna creating number of rectangular, trapezoidal, and I shape slots in logarithm size in Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) structure. The structure consists of an array of various shape slots antenna designed to operate in C and X band applications. The basic structures have been designed over a RT duroid substrate with dielectric constant of 2.2 and with a thickness of 0.508 mm. Multiple slots array and shape of slot effects have been studied and analyzed using HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator). The designs have been supported with its return loss, gain plot, VSWR, and radiation pattern characteristics to validate multiband operation. All the proposed antennas give gain more than 9 dB and return loss better than −10 dB. However, the proposed structures have been very sensitive to their physical dimensions.

This work presents a simulation of two different feeding techniques of microstrip patch antenna for 28GHz, 5G applications. The antenna fed by inset feed line and coplanar feed line. The simulated results using High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) shows that both the reflection coefficient of less than-10dB have been achieved over a frequency of 28GHz; demonstrate a gain of 7.96dBi and 5.72dBi for the inset feed line and coplanar feed line, respectively.

A CPW-fed defected substrate microstrip antenna is proposed. The proposed antenna shows wideband applications by choosing suitable defected crown shaped substrate. Defected substrate also reduces the size of an antenna. The radiating patch of proposed antenna is taken in the form of extended U-shape. The space around the radiator is utilized by extending the ground plane on both sides of radiator. Simulation of proposed antenna is done on Ansoft’s High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS v. 14). Measured results are in good agreement with simulated results. The prototype is taken with dimensions 36 mm × 42 mm × 1.6 mm that achieves good return loss, constant group delay, and good radiation characteristics within the entire operating band from 4.5 to 13.5 GHz (9.0 GHz) with 100% impedance bandwidth at 9.0 GHz centre frequency. Thus, the proposed antenna is applicable for C and X band applications.

In this work, a simulated study was carried out for designing a novel spiral rectangular patch of microstrip antenna that is used in ultra-wideband applications by using a high frequency structure simulator software (HFSS). A substrate with dielectric constant of 4.4 and height 2.10 mm (commercial substrate height available is about 0.8-1.575 mm) has been used for the design of the proposed antenna. The design basis for enhancing bandwidth in the frequency range 6.63 - 10.93 GHz is based on increasing the edge areas that positively affect the antenna's efficiency. This design makes the designed antenna cost less by reducing the area of the patch. It has been noticed that the bandwidth of the antenna under this study is increasing to 4.30 GHz or 61% compared with 3.6% for the standard rectangular microstrip antenna with the same dimensions of the proposed antenna. The antenna also maintains the voltage standing wave ratio of 1.09 at resonant frequency 7.07 GHz, return loss -27.07 dB, and the amount of impedance in real and imaginary parts 51.5Ω and 3.3Ω, respectively.

Design of Concentric Circular Antenna for Multiband Applications should be presented in this paper. In this paper the concentric circular antenna has been designed and propound and then operates at S, C, X, Ku, K, Ka and Q bands. In order to improve the radiation characteristics the concentric slots are introduced. The designed antenna operated at a frequency from 1 to 40 GHZ for return loss -10dB. The designed antenna substrate length (L1) and width (W1) are 34 mm x 36 mm and it coated with FR4 epoxy material. The line capacitance and inductance of circular patch are increased by use of concentric circular slots. The concentric circular antenna is studied and simulated to operate at seven different frequencies at 3.43GHZ, 7.63GHZ, 10.51GHZ, 15.98GHZ, 24.58GHZ, 30.28GHZ and 35.67GHZ. The concentric circular antenna uses HFSS v.13.0 (High Frequency Structure simulator) for design and simulation purposes.

AbstractIn this paper various shapes of DR antennas excited by common feed have been proposed and successfully implemented for wideband applications. Proposed structures are Hemispherical, Arrow-shaped and Triangular DRA, while common excited feed is inverted trapezoidal conformal patch. These shapes of DR offer significant optimization in several parameters such as impedance bandwidth, peak gain and bandwidth per unit volume of the antenna. By using inverted trapezoidal patch feed mechanism an impedance bandwidth (VSWR<2) of about 63 % for hemispherical shape, 66 % for arrow shape, and 72 % for triangular shape DRA has been achieved with maximum bandwidth per unit volume. Proposed wideband DRAs i. e. triangular, hemispherical, and arrow shapes of DR antennas cover almost complete C-band (4 GHz–8 GHz) frequency spectrum of microwave. The average peak gain within the operating band for hemispherical, arrow, and triangular shape DRA are about 5, 5.4, and 5.5 dB respectively. A comparative analysis of proposed structures for various antenna parameters has been analyzed by HFSS (High-Frequency Structure Simulator) and validated by experimental results.
