The research underlying this paper is descriptive qualitative research conducted through three stages, the pre-field stage, the stage of field-work, and the data analysis stage. The subjects in this study were six students of grade seven Islamic Junior High School or Madrasah Tsanawiyah Yaspi Labuhan Medan with two subjects capable of good mathematical communication, two subjects with sufficient communication skills, and two subjects with less communication skills. Subject selected through purposive sampling. Based on the research, were obtained: first, there is a positive change in the ability of students to communicate mathematics after being given joyful learning based on the context of Malay culture; second, the process of student answers shows that subjects are better able to communicate mathematical questions after being given joyful learning based on Malay cultural context. Furthermore, this research recommended that teachers can use joyful learning based on cultural contexts by presenting problems related to local culture as an alternativelearning.

This study aims to describe the ability of communication and problem solving of mathematical students in the material quadrilateral and triangle in class VII in one district of MTs Bandung. This type of research is qualitative research with phenomenology model which aims to interpret communication ability and ability to solve the mathematical problem of students. The subjects of this study were 24 students for communication skills and 25 students for math problem-solving skills. The result of data analysis shows that the mathematical communication ability of grade VII students in one MTs in Kabupaten Bandung is still relatively low with the highest percentage being in the low communication ability qualification which is 37.5%, while for students who have ability is get percentage equal to 29,2% and for students with high communication skills get a percentage of 33.3%, while for problem-solving skills in class VII is quite good with the highest percentage in qualification students with high problem-solving ability with a percentage of 44%, while for qualified students who ability is getting percentage by 40%, and for low qualifications only got a percentage of 16%.. Keywords: mathematical communication ability, mathematical problem-solving ability

This study aims to find out between students with high, medium, and low self-esteem in term of better mathematical communication. This type of research is quantitative research. The data analysis technique used was one-way variance analysis with inequivalent cells. The collection of students' mathematical communication data was obtained from the score of mathematical communication tests, and the data of self-esteem was collected through questionnaires. The subjects of this study were the eighth-grade junior high school students in Ponorogo with the high, medium and low schools categories. The results of this study indicate that students with high self-esteem possess better mathematical communication skills compared to students with moderate self-esteem and students with low self-esteem. Students with low self-esteem are having the same level of mathematical communication skills as students with moderate self-esteem.

The purpose of this study was to find out how the mathematical communication skills of students in solving the problem of flat building of class VII triangles in one of the SMP in the city of Cimahi. Data collection uses written tests for 33 students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research that is analyzing students' difficulties in solving mathematical communication skills on indicators stating everyday events and lowering the quadrangular flat building area formula of grade VII students of junior high school. The results of this study can be concluded that there are 6.06% (2 students) who have excellent mathematical communication skills, 93.94% (33 students) have good mathematical communication skills and 0% (no students) who have communication skills mathematically is not good at problem 1 which indicator states everyday events and decreases the formula of quadrilateral flat building. This is due to the lack of ability of students to communicate their ideas so that they cannot solve problems in the given questions and even if asked they can only smile and be quiet.

Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan penemuan terbimbing untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan komunikasi matematis serta mendeskripsikan kualitas hasil pengembangan perangkat tersebut. Kualitas hasil pengembangan ditentukan berdasarkan pada kriteria dari Nieveen, yaitu valid, praktis, dan efektif. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan diadaptasi dari model Dick dan Carey. Adaptasi model Dick dan Carey menghasilkan 3 tahap pengembanan (define, design, dan develop). Subjek uji coba dalam penelitian ini adalah 60 siswa kelas 8 SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. Instrumen yang digunakan antara lain lembar validasi, lembar penilaian dari guru dan siswa, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, serta tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dan komunikasi matematis. Analisis data kevalidan dan analisis data kepraktisan masing-masing dilakukan dengan cara mengkonversi data kuantitatif berupa skor hasil penilaian menjadi data kualitatif berupa nilai standar skala lima. Analisis data keefektifan tes ketercapaian kompetensi dilakukan dengan cara menentukan persentase ketuntasan minimal, sedangkan analisis tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dan komunikasi matematis ditentukan peningkatannya.  Hasil validasi ahli, penilaian dari guru dan siswa, observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, dan hasil tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dan komunikasi matematis siswa memberikan bukti bahwa perangkat pembelajaran telah memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif. Developing instructional kits using the guided discovery to increase creative thinking and mathematical communication skills AbstractThis research is aimed to produced learning kits using guided discovery approach to increase the creative thinking and mathematical communication skills and to describe the quality of the result of the development. The quality of learning kits determined based on Nieveen’s criteria, those are valid, practical, and effective. This research is development research adapted from Dick, and Carey model. The modified of this model resulted 3 stages of development steps (define, design, and develop). The subjects of this study are 60 grade 8 students of Muhammadiyah Junior High School 3 of Yogyakarta. The research instruments were validation sheet, assessment sheets from teacher and students, learning observation sheet, and critical thinking and mathematical communication skills test. The validity and practicality data analysis were done by converting the actual score into qualitative data with standard scale of five. The effectiveness of data analysis was done by determining the percentage of minimum completeness, while the analysis of critical thinking skills and mathematical communication tests determined the improvement. The results of experts’ validation, assessments from teachers and students, learning observation, and critical thinking and mathematical communication skills test, provide the evidence that the learning kits are valid, practical and effective.

Abstrak Komunikasi masuk dalam salah satu keterampilan abad ke-21 di framework PISA 2018 yang akan diukur. Selain itu tujuan pembelajaran matematika menurut Permendikbud bahwa salah satunya siswa mampu mengkomunikasikan gagasan serta mampu menyusun bukti matematika dengan menggunakan simbol matematika. Sehingga guru di tuntut untuk meningkatkan komunikasi siswa khusus di masa pandemi sekarang yang menerapkan pembelajaran secara daring (online). Sehingga tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mendeskripsikan kesulitan guru dalam membantu perkembangan komunikasi matematis siswa selama pembelajaran online. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif jenis Fenomenalogi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara via wa dengan 12 guru SMP Sumatera Selatan. Analisis data yang digunakan ialah Miles dan Huberman dengan tahapan (1) pengumpulan data;(2) reduksi data dan penyajian; dan (3) menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada beberapa kesulitan guru dalam membantu perkembangan komunikasi matematis siswa yaitu : pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran, kondisi siswa dan ekonomi serta teknis pembelajaran online. Kata kunci: Komunikasi Matematis, Pembelajaran Online Abstract Communication get into one of the 21st Century skills in Framework PISA 2018 to be measured. In addition, the purpose of learning mathematics according Permendikbud is one of them is able to communicate ideas and able to compile mathematical evidence using with mathematical symbols. So, the teachers are demanded to foster student mathematical communication especially in current pandemic that implementations online learning. Therefor, the purpose of this study is describe teacher’s difficulties in fostering student mathematical communication during online learning. This study is qualitative research type of phenomenology. Data collected through interview WA with 12 teacher in South Sumatera. Data analysis use Miles and Huberman namely : (1) data collection (2) data reduction and  presentation; and (4) Draw conclusions. The result show that there are several teacher’s difficuly  in fostering students’ mathematical communication i.e : implementation of learning process, student conditions and techonology, economics. AbstrakPewarisan budaya menjadi langkah kecil untuk dapat terus melestarikan budaya di suatu daerah. Namun, perkembangan teknologi terkadang mampu menggeser upaya pewarisan budaya tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pewarisan budaya keterampilan dalam pembuatan kerajinan marmer melalui kegiatan “manjing”. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif melalui studi fenomenologi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tiga tahap yakni (1) reduksi data, (2) display data, dan (3) penarikan kesimpulan. Penentuan keabsahan data dengan menggunakan teknik perpanjangan waktu penelitian dan triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan manjing dilakukan secara rutin. Proses pewarisan dilakukan oleh pengrajin marmer junior mulai dari upaya mengamati, menirukan, dan mempraktekkan hal-hal apa saja yang dilakukan oleh pengrajin marmer senior. Proses pewarisan budaya difokuskan pada kreativitas pembuatan kerajinan marmer. Upaya ini terdapat unsur pembelajaran di dalamnya, dalam konsep pendidikan kemudian proses ini termasuk dalam ranah pendidikan informal.AbstractCultural inheritance is a small step to be able to continue to preserve culture in an area. However, technological developments are sometimes able to shift the effort of cultural inheritance. This study aims to describe the process of cultural inheritance of skills in making marble crafts through "manjing" activities. This research uses qualitative research methods through phenomenology studies. Data collection is done through observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Data analysis was performed using three stages namely (1) data reduction, (2) data display, and (3) conclusion drawing. Determination of the validity of the data by using research time extension and triangulation techniques. The results showed that the Manjing activities were carried out routinely. The process of inheritance is carried out by junior marble craftsmen from the effort of observing, imitating, and practicing what things are done by senior marble craftsmen. The process of cultural inheritance is focused on the creativity of making marble handicrafts. This effort has an element of learning in it, in the concept of education then this process is included in the realm of informal education.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika berbasis masalah yang berorientasi pada kemampuan komunikasi dan prestasi belajar matematika yang mempunyai kualitas baik yang terdiri atas rencana pelakanaan pembelajaran (RPP), lembar kerja siswa (LKS), tes kemampuan komunikasi, dan tes prestasi belajar. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan. Prosedur yang diadaptasi tersebut meliputi tiga tahap yaitu studi pendahuluan, desain produk, dan pengembangan produk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran matematika yang dikembangkan masing-masing memenuhi kriteria valid dengan kategori “baik”. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan praktis dengan hasil penilaian kepraktisan oleh guru pada kategori “baik”, kategori “sangat baik” berdasarkan respon siswa dan kategori “sangat baik” berdasarkan hasil observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan efektif berdasarkan ketuntasan belajar siswa. Persentase siswa yang tuntas pada tes kemampuan komunikasi matematika mencapai 84,38% dan pada tes prestasi belajar mencapai 81,25%.Kata Kunci: perangkat pembelajaran, pembelajaran berbasis masalah, kemampuan komunikasi matematika, prestasi belajar Developing a Problem-Based Learning Instructional Kit Oriented to Junior High School of Mathematical Communication Skills and Learning Achievement AbstractThe research aims to produce a good quality problem-based learning mathematics instructional kit oriented to mathematical communication skills and learning achievement consisting of lesson plans, student worksheets, communication skill test, and learning achievement test. This study was a research and development. The procedure of this model consisted of three steps are define, design and develop. The result shows that the mathematics instructional kit is valid with a “good” category. Learning kit that has been developed was practically shown by results of practicality votes by teachers in category “good”, “very good” category based on student’s responses and “very good” category based on the observation of learning implementation. Learning kit that has been developed was effective based on student’s learning mastery. The percentage of students who achieved the mastery level in communication test is 84.38% and in learning achievement test is 81.25%.Keywords: instructional kits, problem-based learning, mathematical communication skills, learning achievement

This research is motivated by the low mathematical communication skills of junior high school students in the city of Bandung Regency. This study aims to determine the comparison of the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students in the city of Bandung regency between the learning usingmodels Think Talk Write. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design involving two groups and randomly selected classes, at the beginning and end of the study the two classes were given a test. The population in this study were junior high school students in the city of Bandung Regency, while the sample consisted of two randomly selected classes. Obtained class VII A (experimental class) given themodel Think Talk Write and class VII B (control class) is given a scientific approach. The instrument used was a 5-item mathematical communication ability description test, then theability scores mathematical communication students'were analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics using the help of SPSS 21 software. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there were differences in the achievement of students' mathematical communication skills using models Think Talk Write with students who used a scientific approach.

Based on preliminary observations, it was found that the people in Nias Islands,North Sumatra province had used medicinal plants for a long time and had inheritedthem from generation to generation. So that many people still use medicinal plants.This study aims to determine the types of family medicinal plants used by thecommunity, how to mix or process family medicinal plants, and public perceptionsof family medicinal plants. This research is a type of qualitative research withdescriptive methods with 125 respondents. Collecting data by observation,interviews, documentation. The data analysis technique uses three stages, namelydata reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. Fromthe research results, there were 23 plant species used by the community in NiasIsland as Family Medicinal Plants. The method of concocting family medicinalplants varies greatly, depending on the type of plant and disease, the people ofSambulu village have good perceptions about family medicinal plants. Suggestionsare expected to maintain the habit of using medicinal plants, and also teach them tochildren or young people.

Mathematical communication skills are one of the competencies that students must have in the 21st century.  This study aims to anylize and describe students’ mathematical communication skills in terms of self efficacy on the polyhedrons material. The research used descriptive qualitative methods. The subjects were 9 grade students of An nashichah private junior high school selected purposively.  Data was collected through online test, questionnaires and interviews using WhatsApp. The data analyzed through 3 stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results showed that the students’ mathematical communication skills were low. When viewed from students’ self efficacy, high self efficacy students have high mathematical communication. Meanwhile, low and moderate self efficacy students have low mathematical communication skills. The use of Whatsapp media is not able to support students mathematical communication skill and self efficacy. The tachers need to design learning media to help students improve their mathematical communication skills and self efiicacy.
