The Grobogan Regency Government, apart from constructing and maintaining weir buildings and dams that function to divide irrigation water, also continues to strive in developing the Secondary Irrigation Area Network. However, until now the handling of the construction and maintenance of the Irrigation Network carried out by the Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning of Grobogan Regency has not been able to be carried out optimally because there are several obstacles faced, including limited geographic / spatial-based data and information that is accurate as a tool for know the location of the Irrigation Network infrastructure and the supporting buildings for the Irrigation Network. The purpose of this research is to implement a Geographical Information System (GIS) application using the ArcGis program, to compile an information system in the form of a data base for the Irrigation Area network and to determine the priority for the maintenance of the Irrigation Area network using the following parameters: how much area is the Irrigation Area network irrigated, how long is the irrigation area canal damage and how much it costs to maintain the irrigation network The inventory data of the irrigation area network is obtained from the Irrigation and Raw Water sector of the PUPR Service of Grobogan Regency, this data is in the form of existing irrigation area network data, As-built Drawing images from the implementation results and photos of the location of the irrigation area network.

Krueng Baro Irrigation Area is one of the irrigation areas which is focused on increasing food crop productivity in Pidie District. To support the existence of the irrigation, of course, it must be supported by a well-organized irrigation system, so an effective irrigation network management system is needed through the O M program. O M activities require a truly real value or cost figure which is the result of the search for irrigation networks known as the real operation and maintenance demand value. The physical condition of the Krueng Baro Irrigation Network if viewed from the results of the irrigation network inventory still has many obstacles that hamper the fulfillment of rice water needs, including physical damage to buildings and irrigation channels. The evaluation of irrigation network performance is the first step in the preparation of the real operation and maintenance demand value, the rate of performance of the Krueng Baro Irrigation Area network is 68.06% (BWSSI, 2017) which falls into the less category and needs attention. This study aims to identify Irrigation Network O M activities and the real operation and maintenance demand value Krueng Baro irrigation. The research method is in the form of observations / field observations and documentation to obtain the existing conditions of irrigation networks which subsequently identify O M plans and preparation of the real operation and maintenance demand value. After the preparation of the real operation and maintenance demand value was obtained the output of the value of the real cost requirement in carrying out routine operations was only 0.53% (IDR 529,180,000.00), Routine Maintenance 6.52% (IDR 6,510,464,300.00), while for Periodic Maintenance is very large, namely 92.95% (IDR. 92,764,196,192.00) compared to the overall total cost (IDR. 99,803,840,492.00). In order to achieve the full O M Plan and the real operation and maintenance demand value Krueng Baro Irrigation Network due to the limited budgetary budget so is divided into a 5-year priority program plan reference to Minister of Public Works and Housing Regulation No. 12 / PRT / M / 2015 with the first year priority carried out on the main building which greatly influences performance and function of the irrigation system such as turnover of intake doors, olak ponds and upstream weir sediment excavation and some buildings and channels that have been destroyed and not functioning on the carrier channel.

Rapid and fast-growing developments have increased the demand to build more facilities and buildings in Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). In accordance with this statement, newly or senior students including lectures in UTHM finds it difficult to locate their accurate location or destination which causes their wastage of time and energy. Thus, studies on locating building using Geographic Information System (GIS) application were conducted. The main aim of this study is to develop a web based GIS application as a proper and effective solution which is intended to minimize the problems in locating buildings and facilities within main campus of UTHM. The objectives of this study are to develop a database for UTHM main campus buildings where it will be used to analysis building locator information and developing the database into a web-based application. The database system is designed using QGIS where geospatial and attribute data were used to create a database as a dataset to run the application. This application known as Campus Building Locator (CBL) was designed with suitable information such as block name, building name and block image to show building’s location and facilities. Questioners have been distributed to analysis the effectiveness of CBL based on users feedback. Based on the result obtained, 58% of the users strongly agree that CBL is a user-friendly application and 67% of users also strongly agree that the information provided as mentioned before is sufficient enough to locate building or facilities around the campus area. About 58% of users are satisfied with the components and features provided in this application where it attracts the user to use it more often for their search. Overall, CBL will introduce new searching approach, a very useful medium and standard references to all UTHM occupants.

Along with the rapid development in the Internet network technology and the constant improvement in the GIS technology as well as the urgent demand for geographic information sharing and mutual operation application, WebGIS has become a hot issue in the field of the GIS application. WebGIS has made up for the traditional limitations of the GIS application, thus making GIS achieve the function of true information data sharing. In such case, it accelerates the process of informationalization of the city fundamental geography. Therefore, it has strong promotion and the application value.

One of the major issues in agricultural machinery aids program from the central government is the difficulty to access information regarding distribution of the machines. Therefore, it is important to design and develop an application that provides the information about location of the four wheels and two wheels tractors distributed by the local, provincial, and central government in Maros Regency. The aim of this study was to develop a Geographical Information System that can be used to locate and map the agricultural machinery distribution. So far the data collection process is still done manually. This system need to be replaced with a system that makes it easier and efficient to map the distribution of hand tractors and four-wheel tractors. The tools used in developing the GIS application were Android Studio software and Google Maps API. The system developed can be easily maintained and data can be updated in real-time by an administrator and accessed by anyone through a login procedure.

Working with contemporary, monolithic desktop Geographical Information Systems can be laborious and confusing, especially for non-experts. An alternative for a more user friendly approach to spatial data edition and spatial analysis may be an “app-based” web application that is offering single tasks for the user—“micro applications”. In this paper, a method for determining such “micro applications” based on user stories is presented and applied to a specific use case—the case is centered around an Austrian Governmental Institution that digitizes and edits infrastructure data. The results of this process are implemented in an app-based web application. To measure the impacts of the app-based approach, we evaluate the user experience of the app-based approach in comparison to a desktop Geographical Information System offering the same functionality. For the measurement of the user experience, we used a focus group. The group had to accomplish tasks with the desktop Geographical Information System and with the app-based web application. To measure their user experience, we employed the tool AttrakDiff. The app-based web application achieves significantly better results in terms of user experience. This result is confirmed in a discussion panel carried out afterwards. Test persons responded that positive aspects of the app-based web application were the easy and intuitive handling and reduced user interface that helps the users to focus on their tasks without any distraction.

The main objective of Medreonet is to share and exchange data, expertise, experiences and information on bluetongue (BT), African horse sickness (AHS) and epizootic haemorrhagic disease (EHD). In this context the web-based database and geographical information system (GIS) application is the most suitable tool to provide a friendly environment that is easy to use by the different actors involved in the project. The web-based database and GIS application has been developed using ESRI software (release 9.0) (ArcIMS, ArcGIS desktop, ArcSDE), Java and Active Server Pages (ASP). Users can access the public web-GIS through a generic Internet browser and the information required (maps and data) are published by ArcIMS using web server technology. ArcSDE and an Oracle relational database management system (release 8i) (RDBMS) are used to store and manage spatial and alphanumerical data. The authorized users can input new information and data on their geographical area of competence directly online, using ASP and a web interface. The accuracy of the data entered into the information system (e.g. missing values, duplicates, incorrect data format, etc.) is guaranteed by automatic check procedures that operate dur­ing the updating of the centralized database. The database was designed to store all the epidemiological data deemed relevant by the experts and all the scientific results, when available, pro­duced during the project. In particular, the data collected cover three main sets of information which are displayed and spread through an interactive, dynamic mapping system:  – outbreak distribution, i.e. the geographical distribution of the disease by year and serotype at the regional level in the European Union (EU) and Mediterranean countries for BT, AHS, and EHD, respectively;  – serological surveillance results, i.e. geographical distribution of the true and apparent prevalence of infection based on the analyses of BT serological surveillance data;  – entomological distribution, i.e. geographical distribution of nine vector species by year and month, number of catch sites, number of catches, vector and maximum number of midges at the regional level in the EU and Mediterranean countries. Medreonet database and GIS application fulfill all the require­ments stipulated in the project; moreover the system is fully scalable and may adapt to future demands.
