The national defense eoucation act of 1958, briefly referred to as NDEA, authorized something over one billion dollars in Federal aid over a four-year period. “In the swinging sweep of its 10 titles it touches—and returns to touch again—every level of education, public and private, from the elementary school through the graduate school. Its billion dollars, though authorized for a dozen separate programs, have been authorized for a single purpose-that every young person, from the day he first enters school, should have an opportunity to develop his gifts to the fullest.”1 It is quite clear that Congress recognized how exceedingly important is superior instruction at the elementary level as well as in high school and college. The Act concerns itself with the finding and encouraging of talent, the improving of teaching, and with the furthering of knowledge itself. This Act includes the instructor of arithmetic.

Cyberspace has become the most popular carrier of information exchange in every corner of our life, which is beneficial for our life in almost all aspects. With the continuous development of science and technology, especially the quantum computer, cyberspace security has become the most critical problem for the Internet in near future. In this paper, we focus on analyzing characteristics of the quantum cryptography and exploring of the advantages of it in the future Internet. It is worth noting that we analyze the quantum key distribution (QKD) protocol in the noise-free channel. Moreover, in order to simulate real situations in the future Internet, we also search the QKD protocol in the noisy channel. The results reflect the unconditional security of quantum cryptography theoretically, which is suitable for the Internet as ever-increasing challenges are inevitable in the future.

E-commerce, which has been a very prominent issue with the help of current developments in information and communication technologies and worldwide prevalence of the internet, has been intensively used considering the benefits for both customers and businesses. Tourism businesses, which demand to be successful in such rapidly changing competitive business environments, attempt to develop e-commerce applications in order that they can compete with their competitors and make use of new opportunities. It is emphasized that despite the various benefits of e-commerce, it might also bring the end of some sectors, which have not developed essential arrangements and infrastructures for this virtual environment. It is estimated that the need for package tours, tour operators and travel agencies will decrease in the future depending on the growing interest in the independent travel, the number of searches that people make on the internet search engines and tendency to act in accordance with the travel programs. The primary aim of this study is to figure out how much travel agencies in EskiĢehir use the e-commerce, the positive and negative effects of e-commerce on travel agencies and how e-commerce is perceived by agency administrators and employees. Besides, this study aims at determining the relationship among the perceptions of these employees and their performance. Within the scope of this research, 61travel agencies operating in EskiĢehir were selected and a survey consisting of close-ended questions applied to these business administrators and employees. The results revealed that almost all travel businesses have a web site, and the most important reason why they use the internet is easy accessibility and getting new customers. Employees think that use of e-commerce will not have any negative effect on the future of their businesses. According to results of correlation analysis, there was significant relationship found between employees‘ perceptions about the effects of e-commerce use on businesses and their performance in which they are employed.

What is the future of copyright and authors’ rights in the light of what is being called “the digital information society?”It is generally recognised that the law responds to a given situation: if the legal fraternity doesn't take the time to observe and understand what is actually happening, it will be almost impossible to ascertain where and what the problems are. Only by careful observation can the lawmakers suggest possible solutions and appreciate their value.

Background/Context Much science education reform has been directed at middle and high school students; however, earlier experiences in elementary school may well have an important impact on young people's future science literacy and preparation for possible STEM careers. Purpose/Objective This study explores the relationships among fifth-graders’ perceived learning opportunities in school science, their perceptions of self in science, and their desire to take more science courses in middle and high school. Research Design To directly address concerns about the reproducibility of results of small educational studies, this study explores whether results from one sample are replicated in a second, different sample. The fifth-grade students from two different samples of public elementary students in California (Sample 1: n = 363; Sample 2: n = 327) completed surveys about students’ perceived school science experiences, sense of themselves as science learners, and aspirations to learn more science in the future. The analyses of both samples included regression analyses to explore the relationship between science self-perceptions and wanting to take future science classes, as well as whether students’ perceived opportunities to participate in science activities might influence the relationship between self-perceptions and wanting to take more science in the future. Findings/Results There were positive and significant relationships between both school science learning opportunities and wanting to take more science courses, and science self-perceptions and wanting to take more science courses. Analyses indicate that both factors need to be considered when predicting who is eager to learn more science. These findings were consistent across both samples and were robust even after including student-level and school-level and controlling for the nested structure of the data. Conclusions/Recommendations Findings highlight the importance of fifth-graders’ self-perceptions in understanding the effects of science learning opportunities on their desire to learn more science. Thus, school science opportunities may be necessary but not sufficient for increasing student interest in learning more science. Since teachers have influence on both learning activities and a student's sense of self as a science learner, the results underscore the importance of preparing elementary teachers to foster student desire to learn more science in the future.

In two studies, students answered questions about their earliest memories from childhood and either elementary school and high school or college and yesterday. Visual sensory impressions were present in all childhood and almost all later memories. Sound aspects were more frequent in memories from high school and college than in those from childhood. Earliest memories from yesterday almost always included internal sensations. Recollections were rated as more accurate, complete, and verbalizable as events occurred later in life. Memories from childhood, elementary, and high school were thought about, found useful, or shared equally frequently. Yesterday's events were less likely shared, but, if shared, enhanced social relationships.

With the rapid growth of smartphone use, problematic mobile game use among youth has become an increasingly salient social concern in South Korea. In this study, we empirically explored the relationship between parenting behavior and adolescents' problematic mobile game use. On the basis of the developmental perspective, we focused on students in 3 different age groups (N = 1,018: elementary school, n = 401; middle school: n = 333; high school, n = 284) and observed noticeable differences according to age group. According to the hierarchical multiple regression results, overexpectation was positively related to problematic mobile game use in all 3 age groups. However, affection was negatively related to problematic mobile game use only in the elementary school group, and monitoring was negatively related to problematic mobile game use only in the high school group. Implications of the findings are discussed.
