Purpose. The purpose of the article is to analyze and systematize the views of social and political thinkers of Galicia in the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries. on the right and manner of organizing a nation-state as a cathedral. Method. The methodology includes a set of general scientific, special legal, special historical and philosophical methods of scientific knowledge, as well as the principles of objectivity, historicism, systematic and comprehensive. The problem-chronological approach made it possible to identify the main stages of the evolution of the content of the idea of catholicity in Galicia's legal thought of the 19th century. Results. It is established that the idea of catholicity, which was borrowed from church terminology, during the nineteenth century. acquired clear legal and philosophical features that turned it into an effective principle of achieving state unity and integrity. For the Ukrainian statesmen of the 19th century. the idea of catholicity became fundamental in view of the separation of Ukrainians between the Russian and Austro-Hungarian empires. The idea of unity of Ukrainians of Galicia and the Dnieper region, formulated for the first time by the members of the Russian Trinity, underwent a long evolution and received theoretical reflection in the work of Bachynsky's «Ukraine irredenta». It is established that catholicity should be understood as a legal principle, according to which decisions are made in dialogue, by consensus, and thus able to satisfy the absolute majority of citizens of the state. For Galician Ukrainians, the principle of unity in the nineteenth century. implemented through the prism of «state» and «international» approaches. Scientific novelty. The main stages of formation and development of the idea of catholicity in the views of social and political figures of Halychyna of the XIX – beginning of the XX centuries are highlighted in the work. and highlighting the distinctive features of «national statehood» that they promoted and understood as possible in the process of unification of Ukrainian lands into one state. Practical significance. The results of the study can be used in further historical and legal studies, preparation of special courses.

Resent research has shown that electroencephalography (EEG) theta/beta ratio (TBR) in cases with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has thus far been reported lower than that in healthy individuals. Accordingly, utilizing EEG-TBR as a biomarker to diagnose ADHD has been called into question. Besides, employing known protocol to reduce EEG-TBR in the vertex (Cz) channel to treat ADHD via neurofeedback (NFB) has been doubted. The present study was to propose a new NFB treatment protocol to manage ADHD using EEG signals from 30 healthy controls and 30 children with ADHD through an attention-based task and to calculate relative power in their different frequency bands. Then, the most significant distinguishing features of EEG signals from both groups were determined via a genetic algorithm (GA). The results revealed that EEG-TBR values in children with ADHD were lower compared with those in healthy peers; however, such a difference was not statistically significant. Likewise, inhibiting alpha band activity and enhancing delta one in F7 or T5 channels was proposed as a new NFB treatment protocol for ADHD. No significant increase in EEG-TBR in the Cz channel among children with ADHD casts doubt on the effectiveness of using EEG-TBR inhibitory protocols in the Cz channel. Consequently, it was proposed to apply the new protocol along with reinforced beta-band activity to treat or reduce ADHD symptoms.

T. S. Eliot was the founder and editor of the Criterion, a literary and cultural review with a European focus that was published during the interwar period. The Criterion functioned as a platform for intellectuals with a shared perception of European culture and European identity. It was part of a network of European periodicals that facilitated an intellectual exchange between writers and thinkers with a common orientation. Examples of other reviews in the Criterion network were the Nouvelle Revue Française from France, La Fiera Letteraria and Il Convegno from Italy, the Revista de Occidente from Spain (edited by José Ortega y Gasset), and Die Neue Rundschau, the Europäische Revue, and the Neue deutsche Beiträge (edited by Hugo von Hofmannsthal) from Germany. In this article, I investigate the specific role the Criterion network of reviews and intellectuals played as an infrastructure for the dissemination of ideas about European culture during the interwar period. I also discuss the content of these ideas about the ‘European mind’. As to the latter, I suggest that Eliot positioned himself as well as his magazine in the European tradition of humanist thinking. Unfortunately, the Criterion’s ambition for a reconstruction of the European mind would dissipate as the European orientation of the 1920s was displaced by the political events of the 1930s. Eliot and his Criterion network expressed a Europeanism that has often been overlooked in recent research. The ideas discussed in this network remain interesting in our time, in which discussions about European values and European identity are topical. What is also highly interesting is the role cultural reviews played during the interwar period as a medium for exchanging such ideas.

In the recent years, the world economy has undergone an enormous transformation. It can be noted that it is not only based on industry, but also on knowledge. Achieving a competitive advantage by regions is further focused on investing in fixed assets, but, what is also important, in human capital. At present, a factor that is increasingly important in achieving competitiveness is the ability to use intangible resources. Expenditures on education and research, investing in people, their knowledge and skills are an essential precondition of raising competitiveness. In the case of a highly qualified staff, it allows the efficient introduction of new technologies and the creation of new directions for its development. The competitiveness of the regions is influenced, inter alia, by human talents, knowledge, entrepreneurship, initiative and own resources to improve living conditions. Human capital is thus a key determinant of the competitiveness of regions in Poland. Therefore, the priority of this article is to analyze the impact of selected components of human capital on the competitiveness of regions in Poland in the years 2007-2014. The article is both theoretical and empirical. The first part reviews the literature closely related to the topic of the work. The second part includes a statistical analysis and a construction of a panel model estimated by the method of least squares. GRETL program was used for calculations. Imię autora*:

The  purpose  of  the  research  is  to  analyze  and  improve  the  structure  of  the  composition  and constructive  means  of  costume  design  for  future  mothers  through  the  prism  of  the  historical perspective of its development. In the process of doing the work used modern methods of research: literary analysis, historiography, systematic structural, morphological analysis and classification of artistic and composition elements. On the basis of literary and visual-graphic sources, an analysis of the evolution of constructive-technological means of creating clothes for pregnant women in the European tradition of the 15th-20th centuries is carried out and systematized design solutions for certain historical periods to satisfy the ergonomic, utilitarian, hygienic functions of the respective costume,  the  creation  of  psychological  comfort,  as  well  as  the  provision  of  social,  artistic  and aesthetic  functions. Next was the structuring  of composition and constructive means of creating comfortable clothes for pregnant women. Analysis of composition decisions was carried out on the basis of both historical and modern costumes. It was investigated that the use of the principles of transformation in pregnant clothes increases the versatility of products and extends the life of the work. The scientific novelty of research lies in the fact that for the first time a system analysis of the means of shaping and artistic expressiveness in designing special clothes for pregnant women was carried out based on an analysis of the evolution of the shaping of this type of costume in a historical context. The article explores a paradox in Zola's writing: the resistance to advances in scientific theory by the author of Du Progrès dans les sciences et dans la poésie (1864), as the first of many such assimilations of scientific progress and artistic trends. This is exemplified by the challenge posed to his Naturalist aesthetic by Michel-Eugène Chevreul's seminal De la loi du contraste simultané des couleurs (1839), popularised during the period of Zola's most sustained art criticism. This radical revision of the science of optics is increasingly accommodated in contemporary painting, from 1880 onwards, at the very moment of Zola's disenchantment with Impressionism. Although L'Œuvre, his novel of 1886, is set in the Second Empire (consistent with the historical limits of Les Rougon-Macquart), Zola inserts into his narrative the theory of complementary colours, the awkward anachronism notwithstanding, to explain his fictional painter's creative impotence. In relation to the latter, the article looks in detail at the genesis and textual details of a key passage in the novel in which Zola's irony at the expense of Chevreul's theories is almost explicit. At least as telling is his response to unsolicited advice about them: ‘J’ai plus de confiance dans l'observation directe que dans la théorie’. One could hardly conjure up a more succinct summary of Zola's unreconstructed approach to the science of painting which simultaneously testifies to his own principles of representation.

This chapter surveys the large body of Fitzgerald’s critical writing, only a fraction of which has been collected and is currently in print. This body of work includes more than fifty book, film and theatre reviews for Punch magazine, more than twenty essays on European art, literature and culture for World Review (the periodical that Fitzgerald co-edited in the early 1950s), and more than 200 reviews of fiction and biography in British and American newspapers, as well as introductions for books and editions, travel essays, art criticism, literary essays and journalistic sketches. The chapter considers the nature of Fitzgerald’s critical sympathies, priorities and tastes, and the marked stylistic continuities between her criticism and fiction. In particular, the chapter notes Fitzgerald’s fascination in her critical writing with what would become two of the most distinctive features of her own writing: a searching appreciation of the psychological and social interplay between fictional characters, and a prose style apparently without art.

Analytic theology differs from other forms of theology primarily in its methodology: its ambitions, its style, its conversation partners, and so on. This is where the most interesting differences between analytic philosophical discussions of the divine attributes and contemporary theological discussions of that topic are to be found. The main positive thesis of this chapter is that the most distinctive features of the approach to divine attributes that one finds in the analytic philosophical literature are simply instances of more general distinctives of analytic theology. The chapter focuses on some of the distinguishing features of the way in which the topic of divine attributes is approached in analytic philosophy of religion as contrasted with the way(s) in which many contemporary theologians are inclined to approach it. The end result is a clearer picture both of the nature of analytic theology in general and of the distinctive character of an analytic approach to the topic of divine attributes.
